5 out of 5 eggsSounds Great!

Pros: It sounds great and is easy to set up. What more is there to say.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I purchased this because I didn't want to have to get in the attic and run speaker cables.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for adding to TV

Pros: Great addition to my new 42'' LED TV. This bar alone gives my whole house more than enough sound. Note that my house is very, very small and I am no audiophile so I will not comment on the quality, but i feel it is well worth the price paid.

Cons: Non, yet. Really like the simplicity and that I did not have to go wireless. I do not trust wireless speakers.

Other Thoughts: Does exactly what I wanted it to do for a price around where I was looking

5 out of 5 eggsPlain old happy

Pros: Ease of connection to any modern manufacturer's HD television with ARC and link capabilities. Great sound. Once set up forget it and use regular TV remote. Built-in AM/FM tuner a real plus.

Cons: Not really a negative but need to take a few minutes to configure the settings correctly.

Other Thoughts: I installed this sound bar at my elderly mother-in-laws house in an attempt to have great audio while not hindering her with multiple remotes.
I bought a brand new Sharp Aquos 52" LED TV and initially used the optical connection to the Sony sound bar. This was a bad choice because automatic on/off functionality doesn't work with optical input. Switched to HDMI (through ARC channel input of TV) and it was pure bliss. Everything worked exactly as I wished. I did turn off the auto standby setting and any other auto power options after finding a problem with system turning off after the tv was on a blank channel for some minutes and then not responding to the HDMI link. Bad stuff for an easily confused elderly person so I KIS'd it by making sure there would be no surprises as I lived 600 miles away.

Now grannie's old TV remote works just like it used to but with a new HD TV and great sound. She thinks me a genius.

4 out of 5 eggsSony Sound Bar

Pros: Great Sound. Convenient setup. The amp/sub unit has a nice glassy finish. If you have other Bravia sync products it's very convenient. Everything switch on and connects to the right input.

Cons: The integrated TV mount only works 40" and 46" TV. Larger TVs you will have to mount using screws in the wall. No ir receiver on the sound bar itself. If you do not have line of site to the Amp/Sub box or bravia sync you can't control the volume or switch inputs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound bar for a good price!

Pros: -powerful bass and clear mids/highs
-HDMI pass-through is pure genius, no more switching inputs on the tv to match the input on the sound system.
-variety of connections, many sound bars only have 2 or 3 inputs and are limited to only optical and/or RCA... but this system offers multiple HDMI, optical, coaxial digital and RCA inputs
-ease of setup, you don't have to run cords all over the room as with a 5+ speaker system
-sound bar comes with mounts to place it anywhere you would like

Cons: -you won't hear "true" surround sound (the trade-off of a sound bar vs. true surround system) because all of the speakers are in front of you... but you can definitely hear the separate channels of audio coming through the sound bar. Just keep in mind that your seating position in relation to the sound bar will affect the perceived surround effect.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this system to replace my previous Sony surround system after moving to a new house that has a vaulted/raised ceiling. There was no good, clean way to run the wires for the rear speakers in my living room, so I decided to go the sound bar route. This sound bar actually sounds clearer and is louder than the Sony 5.1 surround system (rated at 1000w) that I was using previously. This is surprising considering this system is only rated at 400w. I am using this sound bar in a fairly large living room with a 52" LCD and I was initially worried that it wouldn't be powerful enough, but as soon as I used it... those worries went away.
