1 out of 5 eggsIncorrect Details

Pros: I have no clue, there was no reason to install this.

Cons: Labelled as Network Ready. It is not.

No Auto Calibration on N. american Models for some moronic reason.

Other Thoughts: Newegg idiotic Customer Service states they are unable to read Network ready "Yes" under details. They must be blind as well.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for a little over a year

Pros: Great sound, very powerful, pretty easy to use.

Cons: After one year and 2 months, after listening to music like normal, it shut off into protect mode. It has been over 3 weeks and it hasn't come out. Warranty is expired, so now I have an amplifier that can't do anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Cheap price, 7.1 channel, Easy setup for surround sound and configuring if you do not have the 7 speakers and 1 subwoofer. Like for me, I have only 5 speakers and a subwoofer and it was an easy setup and change from the default 7.1.

Cons: Have not found any yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Very capable receiver for the price. Didn't disappoint for a second bedroom. Running HTPC, blu-ray and HD-DVD player through it with no problems.

Good sound quality (not as good as a $1000 receiver, but not expected). Low distortion at low to moderately high volumes. Plenty of inputs.

Cons: Expecting to be able to run component input to HDMI output, but not able to without a converter.

Other Thoughts: Definitely recommended if you are looking for a low cost HDMI, 7.1 receiver. If you need an entry level surround, this is it.

3 out of 5 eggsNo conversion of Component/Composite video to HDMI

Pros: A good receiver for the price. Offers 4 HDMI inputs and assignable sources for the different inputs.

Cons: The manual shows that you can assign analog composite or component video signals to an input channel. It does not say that there isn't a converter inside to put those signals onto the HDMI output (check page 52 of the manual). You will need to buy a $40 external converter to make HDMI to input to the receiver. This is a major failure that's undocumented. Getting my inputs into a single HDMI for my TV was the reason for my purchasing this receiver. I wasn't expecting upscaling, just conversion.

The receiver functions fine otherwise. The main speaker output terminals use a strange connector that I dislike, but may be more common in today's audio products.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Receiver

Pros: Easy setup
Great sound
Very good FM Tuner
Lots of multichannel audio options

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought to play back Blu-Ray audio in a quad bedroom setup. It handles that quite well, and even has good simulated multiple channel for stereo recordings. And the video and HDMI handling are much better than expected for a receiver this inexpensive. Nice job, Sony!
