5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: I'm a bargain shopper so the main reason I choose this was because of the value. 7.1 at 5.1 prices and I'm comfortable with the name Sony. I probably didn't even need 7.1 because it's a small room this was bought for, but it's nice being able to get those two extra speakers. I certainly didn't need the 7.2 as the one subwoofer is plenty enough! I've paired this with Martin Logan MLT-2 and two kenwood bookshelves. The MLTs are in the 5.1 setup and the kenwoods are setup as front lows. So far, it is nothing but impressive! I got an ARC from TV to receiver and Wi-Di works, just wasn't able to get the bass. HDMI cable directly to the Sony Vaio Duo and it was rocking!
The remote was easy enough to figure out and the ports being labeled made it that much easier! No more "Which one do I hit to watch cable?" -- Uhhh the one marked cable/sat !

Cons: Cable Box, Xbox, Playstation and Duo use up all the HDMI ports.
It's heavy and produces heat like most any other receiver. For now anyway. At one point all music players were big and heavy, and now you can fit them in your pocket. Dare I dream that one day, these things will be the size of a WD Passport and it will all be wireless! Wireless speakers and wi-di connections?

Other Thoughts: Wi-Di failed to impress me. With 2-15 second delays between Duo and TV and the lack of BASS? Hopefully the future will provide better results.

60" LG Smart TV has an ARC HDMI port so made use of that so Wi-Di audio could pass through the surround sound. The test speakers gave sound to Sub, but program I was using for Karaoke failed to produce any bass. Rather than figure that out, I just plugged in a 25' HDMI cable because the time difference between doing something and it actually being done on the TV was unacceptable. Over the HDMI, everything was great!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks so far

Pros: I got this in April/May of this year so I've put it through a few paces.

I'm no audiophile and I don't have premium speakers so I can't be relied upon for sound quality reviews, but for features and manufacturing quality I can vote this one as pretty good. The system works and it has pretty much everything I was looking for in an A/V receiver.

Cons: Volume/speaker protection has kicked on a few times when I turned the stereo up a bit. I wasn't anywhere even close to the volume that would damage a speaker so I'm pretty sure this was inappropriate.

This model could also stand to have a bit better GUI (when the GUI mode is enabled, that is). The one it has is not attractive and not deeply functional either.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if there was a way to cut down on the number of AM/FM presets in the list so you don't have to cycle through 25 stations when you only have about 7 or 8 on your list (sometimes the wife strands the FM preset position deep into the un-programmed preset numbers, getting back to civilization is annoying and it would be nice to be able to solve the problem from the machine end rather than the wide end).

To be honest, the system may actually have this feature already but I haven't found it so far...
