3 out of 5 eggsNot Good for DLNA

Pros: Plays 3d, Blu Ray and DVD discs as expected. Works well with online services such as Netflix.

Cons: The interface is not really up to date or user friendly. My biggest issue with this player was that it could not do DLNA from my NAS! The unit could see all the files but all were "corrupt or not supported". The same NAS stored videos worked on all other DLNA capable devices.

Other Thoughts: If you want it for 3D or Blu Ray Disks, Netflix etc. Or music CD's it is fine. If you want to stream home videos look elsewhere.

3 out of 5 eggsOdd problem, but happy it works!

Pros: Plays blu rays
Plays 3d blu rays (finally)
Everything worked

Cons: At first, it wouldn't play 3d blu rays. But then I did some tinkering in the settings and found that the blu ray player was manually set to 720p on a 46" tv. After fixing These settings to suit my hardware, it worked perfectly. I'm sure resetting (bottom of "Setup" in the main menu) will do the same thing.

Other Thoughts: I have and ethernet plugged into my player so I can't really tell you about the wifi but from what I've heard that it's terrible.

Bought my BD player to play blu rays only so I also can't give a first hand review on how it does with the streaming apps i.e Netflix, Hulu, ect, but again, others say it doesn't support enough streaming apps (for instance, the box says it supports Crackle but I've heard otherwise.)

I know I have said "heard" in my review many times, but I do this so you can be more informed of what you're buying and hopefully this will motivate you to do your own research before you purchase it.

4 out of 5 eggsSony Blue Ray

Pros: Works well, great price, fast shipping. Newegg Rocks. Had a issue with set up as it required a WEP Key and I had lost my password. A techie from Netgear (Router) retrieved it for me. Streams Netflix just fine. Got HDMI cable and 2 remotes. Fast response from remote. Very fortunate I had a techie check my entire computer and he found a breakdown in security on my system and a Root Kit had been implanted and 11 people had hacked into my computer and were using my internet. Got it all cleaned up and dumped 3,000 junk files, got rid of the moochers.

Cons: Instruction booklet is a little vague in some areas.

Other Thoughts: There are 2 sellers of the product for Newegg; one at 79.00 and the other at 64.00.

1 out of 5 eggsunworthy

Pros: Doesnot do what it is sold to do, so I can not say that I have any pros to comment about.

Cons: freezes up and keep giving invalid format reading frequently. I have a home network of movies and music, it drops my network and freezes up. I thought it was my HDMI cable or my network. Purchased a new HDMI cable and keep getting the same invalid format signal. I must cut off the player and restart it to get it to operate. I am not sure if want another model BX59 or not. My network signal is very strong in the area that it is located. I can only be the player that is losing the signal. does not movie on a consistant manner to be injoyable to watch movies. Is clamed to play the formats the I have saved my movies in.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure at this time if I want to return this player or chalk it up as a lesson learned??? A real disappointment at this time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: price, picture, wireless

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Our first blu-ray player. Wireless works great and it was easy to set up. Love how the remote auto-syncs with our Sony TV, so volume and other TV controls are available from our blu-ray remote. Very pleased with our purchase!

1 out of 5 eggsPiecer

Pros: It plays 3d blu-rays.

Cons: "Wireless Built" in does not function. Just give an error code. I don't see what was "refurbished" at all. It didn't even come in a plastic bag, just thrown in to the original box, it was covered in cardboard dust when I took it out of its box. I have bought a "factory refurbished" Sony in the past and it was completely redone, with plastic cling over the entire player as well as being inside plastic bags. I decided to just keep this piecer because I will have to pay shipping to get it replaced by Fast Ship. It will do internet hardwired with the Ethernet cable so I guess Ill have to just deal with it. I will never buy anything refurbished again.
