5 out of 5 eggsGreat little unit.

Pros: Unit works great. Found my Wi Fi. I was able to sync to my I phone as a remote. You tube and Hulu plus work very well. I'm impressed. It even does a nice slide show from a memory stick.

Cons: Shipped in a wimpy box.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Great Blu-Ray and DVD player..Fantastic media player, replaces any Apple TV, Roku or any other media player..Why have more than one device when this is all you need? This device connects to EVERY PC on my network, plays almost every file type and is a breeze to use..PLUS I can use my Iphone or Ipad as a remote with the FREE Sony Remote app! Also has USB support for flash dives external hard drives. Just a great versatile machine.

Cons: Could not get Pandora to work but I gave up trying (too lazy) plus not really that crucial. I probably could have figured it out..

Other Thoughts: This is one stop shopping at it's finest..NO NEED for multiple devices, this does it ALL! Plus has amazonvideo, which most bluray players and media players do NOT support!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well for me

Pros: Refurbished and working well so far.

Nice and compact so it was easy to find a space in the cabinet with TV, and all the rest of the gear.

The refurbished price plus a Newegg further discount code made it cost effective for me to get started with BR DVDs.

Seems to play the regular DVDs that I tried without a problem.

Very fast delivery from Newegg! Surprised to find it so quickly.

Cons: Seems very slow bringing up the DVD and somewhat sluggish responding compared to my 2 non Blu-Ray DVD players.

Required going through the entire setup process before I got a usable picture on my 42" flat panel TV.

Doesn't come with the manual though that could be the case for even non-refurbished units these days. Be sure to go to the Internet and download and PRINT the manual.

The front panel controls are not easy for me to see and use since they are sort of hidden along the upper edge of the reflective black case.

The on screen displays for me anyway aren't very intuitive. The manual helps a lot!

Other Thoughts: A good first entry in Blu-Ray playing in a cost effective way. I have no experience with any other BR player so my comment about being sluggish may be the case with all brands and models of players.

Be sure to download and PRINT the complete manual. The correct size seems to be 4 pages per side on 8.5 x 11 paper. Use both sides to save paper.

I haven't tried the WiFi capability but it does see my router which is perhaps 65 feet away through several walls.

Haven't tried any further wireless use and need to remember my passwords for the router...

I tend to use DVDs checked out from our local library that has hundreds if not thousands. Only a few Blu-Rays there now but it's inevitable and I checked out several yesterday to be able to try several.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch Blu-ray for not much money!

Pros: Small footprint, built-in Wifi, easy to use remote control, nice job playing disks

Cons: I am not used to the Sony GUI and it's a little confusing compared to the other brands, so there is some fumbling around.

Other Thoughts: I will come back and write another review once I use this unit more. So far I am impressed with the picture and sound quality.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The low price for both a Blu-Ray player and essentially a Roku box all-in-one can't be beat!

Cons: Slow interface, lots of lag. This is the reason I deducted one star.

Other Thoughts: I received mine today and it was shipped in the original Sony packaging and seems to be brand new. Perhaps NewEgg has been reading these reviews?

3 out of 5 eggsStrike two

Pros: Although I purchased this unit refurbished, the functionality and overall use is exactly as advertised. This unit comes with built-in wi-fi, allowing it to have apps within the player. This was the main reason I opted for this player, as I would be able to watch blurays, stream netflix, prime, etc all in one unit.

Cons: The interface is basically the same as the PS3 so while I am extremely familiar with it, I have noticed quite a bit of lag. The on-screen keyboard layout is very annoying to use and I've given up on trying to use the browser a s not having a mouse or joystick makes navigating the screen very difficult.

Other Thoughts: Although it is not directly a problem with the player itself, I couldn't rate this higher than 3 stars because of newegg's logistics. My first purchase was a bad experience and I tried to stay away, until this deal popped up which was too good to pass up. And as expected, the packaging and shipping reminded me of why I stayed away from newegg. The player was simply shrink wrapped and put in the box they used to ship it, with only a thin piece of plastic protecting it. Upon opening the box, the player had a big crack ans one of the corners was broken. There was literally shattered plastic pieces falling out of the box. However, upon further inspection and use, the damage seems ro be purely cosmetic, so althoughit annoys me, I don't mind, since I wont be handling it and using the remote instead.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks like these have problems

Pros: Inexpensive, meets(?) my needs, almost exactly as advertised.

Cons: Quit during a disc playback, 6th I tried in it. I'm AMAZED it wasn't damaged in transit ... as others have said, plain brown box, no packing, not even held closed but by a loose shipping label. Not that a pair of AA cells is difficult to come by, but Sony does say they are included ... they are not.

Other Thoughts: Frankly, I bought this to TRY the streaming services ... lower $$ than a Roku. I went through those a little learning and it wasn't bad at all. Then I collected a few CD, DVD, and BluRay discs ... didn't play any thru until the 6th, a Diana Krall concert ... fine until ... until ... until ... IT LOCKED UP TIGHT AS A DRUM. Remote had no control, unit "buttons" had no control. I powered down and up and it seems to be working ... ??? I used to think of refurbs as BETTER than new, infant mortality out, but I'm wondering ... we'll see what the future brings.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage....never worked

Pros: Can't think of one.....I enjoyed the few minutes it actually worked

Cons: Doesn't work. Sometimes doesn't respond to power supply, other times will turn out but doesn't move past the start up screen. Looked at newegg's return policy, apparently I have to go through Sony the manufacturer. Well Sony wants a serial number which has been crossed off with a permanent marker on this device. Now I have to ship to sony at my own cost and hope they can fix it. To make things worse a disc i rented from Redbox is in stuck in there and I am getting charged daily!
