2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 5 months...

Pros: Great surround sound, plays blurays and Netflix.

Cons: Worked for 5 months, now won't play any audio through the optical connection. Subwoofer was a little weak, but that was to be expected. Is now getting hung up on certain functions - Netflix takes 5 minutes to load, there's visible stuttering when navigating the interface, and the loading screen sometimes sticks around even while the movie has started playing. Will get stuck while switching inputs for 30 seconds or more.

Other Thoughts: I really like the system, but I prefer my technology to work for more than 5 months from date of purchase. The optical input was the number one feature I purchased this for - I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360 to do Netflix and blurays, and an HTPC to do everything else.

1 out of 5 eggsProblem on the System I purchased

Pros: Speakers, Blue ray works

Cons: Setup Display does not show up on tv. Device shoe up on tv screen for about 30 second and goes off for ever.

Other Thoughts: I completely disappointed with my purchase decision.

4 out of 5 eggsDon't worry about refurbished quality

Pros: Excellent price for refurbished unit.
No dings, scratches or other signs of previous use.
Rock solid performance.
Well designed remote.
Expected number and types of output choices.
Surround speaker system has excellent sound (I'm no audiophile though :-)
Good choices of apps for me (Amaz*n, Netf*ix, Vu*u).
Cable box optic audio passthru for HD audio.
Plays latest BD content.
WiFi easy to setup and connects well.
Uses a normal wired USB keyboard and/or mouse.
This player can be controlled from Galaxy S4 using WatchOn.
Dim blue power-on light not offensive in dark room.

Cons: Little slow to startup, even for a BD player.
Can't change order of menu lineups.
Can't delete any menu items.
Browser is a bear to use, even with a connected keyboard/mouse. Doesn't display most websites properly.

Other Thoughts: Not thrilled with Sony's unilateral control of my menus. Would like to change order of apps but can't.
Can't delete Sony's promotional apps either (when did Spiderman 2 come out???). WiFi is only 2.4GHz, but was easy to setup, and keeps connected at over 10Mbps with my Netgear (N900) router on a different floor over 50 feet away.
Haven't tried to use with wireless mouse or keyboard yet. Setting up accounts was easier than expected even without a connected keyboard.
No backlighted keys on the remote, and it can't be setup to control TV's other than Sony.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Home theater

Pros: Great sound, Easy setup, everything in player is working fine and fast, NFC and bluetooth works great and smart TV works fine. Overall it is worth buying. Like to give 4.5 stars for this product.

Cons: Surround speakers wire is not lengthy enough for 10*14 foot room, Also we cannot replace a lengthy wire for the surround speakers, Wires are connected inside the speakers, other than this everything is great.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good

Pros: Inexpensive, wifi, easy to use, good sound

Cons: No HDMI or Optical but i knew that when I bought it, not as punchy a bass as id like

Other Thoughts: Really good so far, pretty easy to setup, wifi is quick, better netflix quality than on my wii. There *is* individual speaker adjustment (despite a contrary review) a whole slew of nice options. Haven't played with NFC or Bluetooth yet.

1 out of 5 eggsAs awful as it gets

Pros: Price. That does not make up for the cons

Cons: No individual adjustments for the speakers. Not many options available at all. This is a plug and play setup for a college dorm. Not for somebody that has had good systems.Center and surrounds only work with BD/DVD encoded for 5.1.My last Sony system was way more flexible and I had hoped for more out of this.Get it for the kids to play Playstation but not anything else.Non-refundable so now I am stuck with a hunk of junk.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat system for the price

Pros: This is a great little system for the money - I am really impressed. I went from an older DTS/Pro-Logic system that was about 10 years old but high-end. We would use a HTPC with this system to view our home movies, pics, and our MP3 collection, as well as stream Netflix. This system has removed the need for our HTPC entirely as I have DLNA running on my file server with all our multimedia content. It natively plays all our AVI, MP3, MP4, and XVID movies without having to transcode (except for one). We are not using wireless but the wired connector. The sony app on our android device works great for operating the unit as well. I am driving my Polk audio speakers with this that are already wired into the walls without an issue. Also this issue connected properly over the HDMI cable to our Vizio LED LCD TV, but our TV doesnt support bi-directional audio so we have to feed audio from the TV to the stereo through the optical connector. Also has USB and SD cards on the front so you can play or view content stored from cameras or thumb drives.

Cons: No way this thing puts out 1000W, its not as near as powerful as my old system which was only rated at 400W. The subwoofer is NOT powered. The speakers (Left, Right, and Rears and Center) are tiny and seem very cheap. Not sure how good they sound since I don't use them. No HDMI input.

Other Thoughts: Firmware updates are received easily and quickly. The sub is NOT powered but has decent punch; good enough for our entertainment room of about 12x16. Navigation through our DLNA content is pretty easy and intuitive.

4 out of 5 eggsMore than I expected at this price

Pros: Beautiful, sleek system with 6 speakers and the unit itself. Subwoofer, Center, 2 forward and 2 surround speakers. I bought this as a refurb unit and it was packaged well and included all items that were originally provided. What really stood out were all the things this unit could do. I bought it for the internet ability. Netflix, Pandora, etc. However, it does much more than that. It basically makes your TV into a smart TV. You can basically surf the web by URL. This unit has so many features, I haven't even discovered them all yet!

Cons: The biggest con was the lack of any included cables. You would think that a HDMI cable would be included so you could actually hook this up to something. It wasn't. Neither was a digital sound cable, or even the RCA input cables. The RCA cables I could understand, but not the lack of a HDMI cable.

This unit sat for a week until I had time to run to the local tech store to buy these cables.

I do wish the listing was more clear that these cables were not included, and required to be purchased. Even more so, I wish the would of added them, even if it means increasing the unit cost by 5 bucks.

Other Thoughts: It's only been less than a month since I've owned this unit. But the sound is clear. The bass is deep and the subwoofer really brings out the action. It's plenty loud for my living room. And well worth the price.

Since I bought it for almost 1/3 less as a refurb, I am more than satisfied!
