Pros: Excellent sound. Excellent features such as the ability to re-assign the front buttons to different rear jacks. Excellent digital decoding optios: Does them all; Dolby - DTS 96/24 - PCM linear. ALL around terrific performer.
Cons: This is not a simple plug & Play box! I am well versed in electronics and write code for part time work... it took me three days to figure out how to set this beauty up! Why? EVERYTHING is adjustable! Every feature/parameter is programable! Distance to each speaker, subwoofer Main+LFE, subchannel, Main, all... Etc. This flexibility makes this a hands down winner, period! But if these terms are total greek, you may not like the sound out of the box! The instructions tell you what adjustment parameters are available, but NOT what each one means! That's up to you to know.
Other Thoughts: My satelite receiver has a digital optical output. This unit has an optical input that you can reassign to any front input selector. A "Tape/CDR" output allows for "line output" to an external amp. It also has a coax (RCA) digital input. The remote allows for sound/tone adjustment via a test signal, not live audio. The "graphic Equalizer" is 5 channel and is not remote accessible. They are: 63 - 250 - 1Kz - 4Kz - 16Kz. Not the shining Star feature. I use this as my every day Satelite radio/TV user. Great sound at lower volumes. (Use a good quality self powered subwoofer!)

Pros: This receiver has awesome sound! Even at lower volumes. I've always been very happy with JVC products and I am very happy with this receiver and I will defiantly buy JVC products again.
Cons: The only problem I have is that it only has one optic digital input. But they make switchers for them now so it is not that big of a deal anymore.
Other Thoughts: Keep the manual handy, there are many options on this receiver. I've had mine since May of 07 and I am still looking up what things do. (As of January 08).

Pros: It just works so darn good.
Cons: Not for 150$
Other Thoughts: Almost 30 years ago I spent about 5000$ on my stereo system. What a waist of $$ if i put it in stocks back then I might be able to buy a 1,000,000 system lol. Anyway im very happy with this system rignt now. Have it runing on my 20+ year old klipsch. If ya want to blow some $$ get a good speaker that will last a life time

Pros: excellent reciever for the price.. on sale 150 w/free shipping.. doesn't have all the bells and whistles of higher priced recievers but still has lots of great features for playing movies in digital or analog , cds, Fm.. takes a few minutes to set up EQ for the sound but thats part of fun !
Cons: am reception stinks..
Other Thoughts: Fm sounds great with enhanced antenna.. surround sound has really good separation.. 3D is really cool..I replaced my 18 year old onkyo that finally blew.. i'm imperessed with new reciever for the price. Using rebuilt 18 YO JBLs L60Ts with pure titanium tweeters..man would that be expensive nowadays..reciever has enough power to make them sound like they should..
