5 out of 5 eggsGreat value, good sound!

Pros: This sub sits right in the sweet spot for extremely budget-tight but somewhat demanding listeners. I've used this sub so far to just replace an unpowered HTIB speaker. Turning the volume level to the half way point is good enough to provide powerful but balanced, clean bass in this simple setup. Having the volume control is essential to allow you to balance the bass to your preference. The unpowered speaker it replaced didn't have this option and basic HTIB setups don't really let you tweak the audio too much.

Cons: The spring-loaded wire connections seemed a little cheap, but I had no trouble with the connection. If you want any better, you're going to have to pay a lot more.

Other Thoughts: There are terminals for connecting more external speakers. You should know that these terminals will not provide any sound if you use the line-level RCA jacks. It will simply pass through any pre-amplified audio you connect to the high-level input terminals, and provide amplication only for the sub.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat Sub for cheep

Pros: hits hard for the price, excellent frequency response. it out hits my dads 15" sub in his theater. (although the 15" is not a high end sub either.) i would highly recommend this especially if you are looking to save a few bucks.

Cons: none, if you want a better sub your going to have to spend at least twice the price to find one.

Other Thoughts: it runs other speakers if you need that for your set up. though i have never done that so i cant tell you how good it works.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sub Made Even Better By The Price

Pros: This woofer has given me big, rich base that has turned a good five piece set of Polk audio speakers into a fantastic 5.1 Polk/Yamaha theater experience. I LOVE! my living room sound system and this sub was the "cherry on top". Additionally the price was well below other woofers I saw at the time, even some that had been used!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am not a RAGING audiophile but I do put in a lot of of homework when it comes to frequency range, RMS/wattage, size of the room in which the speakers were being installed, etc. This woofer sits in the corner and add to any music I put through it from classical to techno to metal to swing to jazz.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Quality

Pros: Easy to setup. Good quality bass. I especially like the button on the back to turn the bass down at night when the neighbors wouldn't want to hear it.

Nice looking unit and works well.

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: yamaha,

Cons: yamaha usually makes far superior products than this one. however the price justifies the build quality.
paid more elsewhere for mine.

Other Thoughts: this is a good enough sub for most uses. however this sub will not work well without cabin gain. large and open rooms need larger woofers, for a medium to large room, and for music use, a subwoofer in each corner is best, so 4 total, two at opposite corners of the room would also work well to eliminate nodes. at 100ea its a good buy.

5 out of 5 eggsCrisp, clean clear bass

Pros: This is an amazing subwoofer for the price. Yamaha makes great musical instruments and their speakers reflect that quality sound and build. Bass is very clear, crisp, and responsive, not muddled at all. I can attest that it sounds great sound paired with the new Yamaha RX-V373 AV receiver. I use it for music and theater sound placed in a medium-sized living room. Highly recommended.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsOk..........

Pros: Small, compact. Has through cable hookup so you don't have to have a dedicated sub out.

Cons: Not very loud. I'm using it outside to help my Pioneer speakers with a little more low end. Maybe outdoors is not ideal application for this model. Just a small patio area. Doesn't seem to be doing much for the sound. Not very impressed. But....for $99.00, ya get what ya pay for. Spend a few more $ and get something w/a little more power. Low frequencies take a lot juice.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value and Performance

Pros: I have this unit set up with my computer in conjunction with two Polk studio monitors and a Sony receiver. I use the system primarily for music and occasionally for gaming. I rarely have the volume very high; my emphasis is on clean, balanced sound across the entire dynamic range. Even so, I imagine it can get quite loud.

That said, this subwoofer serves its purpose perfectly. It's extremely responsive and provides a surprisingly rich, deep sound for a mid-sized unit. It also has quite a punch to it for things such as explosion sound effects or music with hard-hitting bass.

I also like the dual wiring options. I'm currently using the speaker-level input as my receiver is older and doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer output.

Cons: The side-facing port is a bit awkward. I ended up having to set up the subwoofer upside-down to get the port to fire in the correct direction for my layout. Certainly nothing worth docking a start for, though.
