In addition to delivering great sound, the Yamaha RX-Z7BL home theater receiver minimizes the cable clutter going to your HDTV. Working as a control hub, it has 5 HDMI-HDCP inputs, 3 HD capable component inputs, and 6 video inputs with S-Video and composite jacks. It then sends the signal through the HDMI-HDCP output jack and to your TV. There are stereo input jacks to match all of the video inputs, plus 5 optical and 3 coaxial digital audio inputs.

You say you want to listen to radio or your iPod? No problem. There are dedicated inputs for those accessories, too. You can listen to XM radio and even crystal-clear, CD-quality HD radio! When you add an iPod docking station, the song titles from your iPod will display on the receiver’s front panel and on-screen display.

Setup is a breeze with the advanced YPAO automatic calibration system. After it checks the connection and phase of each speaker it sends out tones to automatically calibrate the output signals. You don’t have to do a thing! Yamaha’s professional experience with sound and speakers comes home in exquisite style. Hear it for yourself!

5 out of 5 eggsYamaha RX-Z7

Pros: Multi-zone/room set up. Can be controlled with iPhone/iPad yamaha receiver app.
Replaced an older Yamaha receiver.. sound quality is fantastic.
detactable power cord. binding post on all speaker connections. 1080p up-conversion using Pure Progressive de-interlacing chip.

Cons: Extremely heavy, will warp the shelf you place this receiver on (ie.. make sure it can handle the weight). Its very deep, so normal cabinets may not be able to support the receiver + the cable connects in back.
Makes a clicking noise when switch inputs. Previous Yamaha receiver was much quicker.

5 out of 5 eggsNice amp!

Pros: High quality amp section
Internet radio
Bi-amp capability
HD Radio
Web interface

Cons: HDMI 1.3a (no 3D support)
GUI is a bit primitive

Other Thoughts: This was on sale last week and was a bargain. The amp is better than a Yamaha 2095 that it replaces. Sound is noticeably more detailed, dynamic & clear, with the same speakers. The amp is heavy, 45-50 pounds, but you're getting a heavy duty power supply & amp sections which is to be expected for a top of the line amp. Anyway, the amp is higher quality than what most retailers carry.

The Z7 does not support HDMI 1.4, supposedly, which means it won't process or switch 3D video.

Yamaha has made several firmware updates available to address issues discussed elsewhere. I haven't seen any problems, but I upgraded it.

Internet connectivity is a definite plus. You can even control the amp using a web browser on an iPod. It seems limited, but kinda cool. Internet radio's neat too.

Note: Yamaha's new Aventage amps are coming out Sept. '10, with a few upgrades. They don't seem be different enough to justify waiting & paying more.

Still, this model's worth a serious look.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Yamaha always creates great products. I prefer them 10 to 1 over most brands.

Cons: Pricing is decent for the features, and quality. I do think it's a little overpriced. You do get what you pay for though when it comes to "Long Run" view.

Other Thoughts: The receiver I use in my house is not Yamaha, I have 14 years experience installing A/V. I have used a few of this exact models. All I can say is that the person who has "MAYOR" Problems obviously got a defective product, or could have damaged it themselves with software. I personally have never encountered this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied customer

Pros: Performace is excellent of Yamaha RXZ7 along with the Ipod Dock. Really love the network capability of the receiver. Bought the receiver from Newegg, they have excellent customer service who followed up to make sure all the issues were handled promplty and to my satisfaction.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: evaluated other brands of receivers and was not satisfied and finally had to settle on Yamaha RXZ7. It is worth the price spent on it.

3 out of 5 eggsThe most Critic review

Pros: SQ, Multizone, Clean and natural sound Power

Cons: You will need to update firmware to avoid mayor issues

Other Thoughts: After expending $2500, I contacted my dealer when I found 2 mayor issues with this Unit (Due to Software Bugs), 2 weeks later Yamaha released firmware 1.05 fixing the Power on/off issue, The next month, they released v1.08 which addressed the HDMI Blue vertical noise in its processing circuitry. The problems don't end here, firmware v 1.05 has created another bug with Rhapsody operation, that is why I contacted Yamaha support 1 month ago. Not help having replaced my unit. They realized (Yamaha) about this other problem. I was surprised how Yamaha is not very interested in Keeping the Z series trouble free. This is my opinion, What you should expect when you expend $2500 Dollars in a "Top of the Line Receiver"?. Sonically and other Features this Unit Rock, but not enough for a Z series receiver
