4 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Sets up easy! The microphone balances each of the speakers volume.
The GUI is easy to use.
RMA service is great

Cons: One of the HDMI ports broke after about 6 months of use. I sent it in and it got replaced in less than a week. Very good.
Doesn't give you control over the treble and bass.

Other Thoughts: Don't let the RMA scare you, if something goes wrong, which with many electronics they will, you'll get great RMA service.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a good choice

Pros: None.

Cons: Sound quality.
Remote control.
Pretty much everything.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for $179 and had to return this after 1 week.
Get a real receiver, this thing is a toy. In my opinion, this thing worth only $80.

3 out of 5 eggsOK, but Missing a Key Feature.

Pros: Compact
Simple setup
Great for a no-PC media center
* Internet radio
* PC media sharing
* FM radio
Good value (at the 77.5% discounted from list price I paid) - devoid of extraneous connectors and displays

Cons: Cannot combine HDMI video input with optical or coax audio input - you can't connect to PC using DVI+S/PDIF.

When switched off, uses a lot of energy (stays warm).

Class D audio is relatively low power and mid-fidelity by audiophile standards, but $175 HT receivers are also.

Digital broadcast FM radio not supported

Other Thoughts: Needed to update YMC-700 firmware to V 1.4 to get wifi and PC media sharing working.

Hope a future firmware update allows DVI video + S/PDIF audio input.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for a small receiver

Pros: Very small for an AV receiver.
WIFI internet radio
Reasonable on-screen menu

Cons: Has tendency to become un-responsive. Returned one and new one has the same issue. Needs power cycle to bring it back.

Other Thoughts: A good choice if you want small receiver. Obviously not worth the list price.

3 out of 5 eggslatest findings

Pros: Great concept.
Good audio when it plays a format it can decode.
Decent buy at $179.95 but definitley not worth anything near the original price of $899

Cons: Does not support windows 9.2 lossless codecs. How could this be labeled a true media player?
Discontinued item. Yamaha will not be producing anymore of these so I would not expect to see firmware updates.
IR sensors have issues.Turns on my TV when NEO powers on but does not properly auto turn power to my other sources after that!! (yes I have the option enabled to do this in the Firmware)

Other Thoughts: Didnt realise this did not stream video. I had planned to replace my Patriot PBO. I now have my Patriot PBO running into the neo hd. 19 codes for a Samsung LN52 TV and not one of them would control my TV. Luckily this thing has learning ability.
Im torn on whether to return this or not.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Great package. Works as advertised. Arrived quickly. Matched them with a Vizio TV from Costco and a Pinnacle MB 6000 5.1 speaker package. All works great. Like the addition of Pandora and internet radio. Wireless worked without any issues.

Cons: Menu's don't work so well with how I've used my Logitech Harmony. It's doable but awkward. That's the only negative. There may be a workaround, just haven't figured it out yet.

Other Thoughts: For the price it's perfect. That's why I gave it 5 eggs. Wish the menu systems was more friendly with my Harmony but for the price, I can't knock off an egg.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Unit...After Some Twiking...

Pros: Installed the unit with all HDMI cables and IR flashers. I have a nice 5.1 set up. Everything worked as advertised and the sound was impressive for such a small "receiver." It nicely set up my speakers with the YPAO microphone and I was surprised at how good it sounded with Blu-ray. HD DVR also looks and sound great. I have no issues with poor video. I do not like that you have to turn on the receiver to watch live TV every time. I don't need all speakers running to watch TV - all the time...may end up running an additional cable from the Directv receiver to the TV. Here's what frustrated me: I could not get the wireless feature going. Wireless set up should've been a snap but I couldn't get the unit to connect. I had the correct encryption identified, password, everything, but no connection. The receiver quickly picked up my wireless network during set up, but would not connect after logging in the password.

Cons: So, I could tell the wireless feature in the unit was working because it was picking up wireless networks nearby to include mine. messed around with the router, etc....nothing! So, I ran a Cat5 cable from my router to the receiver (between two floors) and connected just fine. I called Yamaha and they didn't have a clue. Called them again a day later and again, they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Once connected with the cable, I accessed Pandora and Internet Radio. It was a breeze and it sounded incredible (but i have nice speakers). I accessed radio stations all over the world. I am now really liking this unit! But went ahead and disconnected the cable and tried WLAN again. Nothing. Then, it occurred to me....connect through Ethernet (Cat5) again and try to do a system (network) upgrade. Maybe this will help with the doggone wireless issue.

Other Thoughts: So, I connected with the Cat5 cable again, went through the menus to "system upgrade" found an available update. It went through several upgrades, actually. Once done, I disconnected the cable and tried to set up again wirelessly. To my surprise - it connected IMMEDIATELY! I can't believe 2 different Yamaha support individuals could not think of that! It would seem to me it should be the first thing to check, but what do I know. I am now very happy with this unit even though I've only owned it for just a week (and just two with wireless functioning). Hope this will help others having wireless problems. It sure gave me a darn headache!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: easy to set up

Cons: cant handle sound at normal listening level for more than 15 mins at a time. shuts off on its own and have to unplug it and plug it back in every 15 mins.

Other Thoughts: I thought Yamaha made good audio products. I was very wrong.
