5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Receiver All Around

Pros: Great power output and feature list for the price that I paid.
Plenty of inputs: 4 HDMI, 2 composite, 2 component and 2 optical audio inputs.
It upconverts non hd, which is great.
My favorite feature is its passthrough ability. I have my TV hooked up via HDMI. Any device that is also hooked up via HDMI to the receiver can be passed through to the TV even when the receiver is off. This input can even be selected with remote, again when the receiver is off. If turned on, the receiver automatically cuts the sound to your tv and then sends it to you speakers. Genius for watching tv in the morning b4 work.

Setup is a breeze with the onscreen menu. It might be a bit tough for someone new, but the instructions that you can find online are very helpful, the ones in the box... not so much.

Cons: Wiring it is kind of a pain, get banana clips or whatever they are called and it will be easier to install your speakers. Trust me, its 5$ I wish I had spent.
I also wish this unit had another optical audio in, but HDMI covers pretty much everything anyway.
Lastly I wish it had a USB slot like my old JVC, which I could plug into my laptop which would then recognize it as a sound card.

Other Thoughts: Also really like the mic and the setup up process, no mor listening myself to adjust the channels individually. The receiver listens to setup tones and does the rest. This is an all around smart hassel free receiver. I got mine refurbed for under 250$. It was seemed like new and I have had no problems thus far what so ever.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but not perfect

Pros: Very easy to set up and use. The YPAO is quite good. I just love having everything go through HDMI. I like the on screen set up controls but you can just hook it up and start using it. It has more inputs than I will ever use. Also, Newegg prices and shipping are incredible!

Cons: The video up-conversion from my DVD analog video connection to HDMI output was awful. In fact, the manual says it just passes it through. I didn't spend much time trying to figure out if the output settings could help. I switched to my BD player and all is well. The sound quality is very good but not great, the main reason I deducted and egg. Then again for under $250 the sound is wonderful!

Other Thoughts: I'm starting to really like Yamaha. They have very high quality and wonderful tech support. I have an old Yamaha M65 stereo amp driving 250 watt speakers and the sound is unbelievably clear. Enough to make an audiophile weep. Not surprisingly this receiver's 90 watts couldn't drive these speakers and in the end the sound isn't quite as clear. However, the sound is very good and I love 7.1 surround. I looked around and even receivers for thousands of dollars more didn't do much better. So I'm very happy with the results for the cost.

4 out of 5 eggsWelcome to the HDMI Age

Pros: Inexpensive. Easy to set up. YPAO with the supplied mic.

Cons: a bit on the thin sounding side. bit more flimsy than the 10 year old RX-V595.

Other Thoughts: I have a really old Yamaha RX-V595 receiver that's over 10 years old. I bought it back then because it had 5.1. 10 years later I need to have HDMI so for the price I thought I'd grab this one. It's so easy to set up especially with the supplied mic and YPAO. The only drawback is that both of these receivers are rated at 90W but the sound quality of the old receiver is much better than this new one. But I'm not using this for music, just movies and sports.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Investment

Pros: Great sound.... was able to hook it up in no time at all. I have it in a 19' x 15' room and there's more than enough sound. Love all the features although I've not yet been able to really look into them all. I think the remote is fairly simple to operate.

Cons: I don't have it hooked up to an HD Television so I am unable to see the menu on the screen. I do realize though, that this receiver is designed for higher end products and I can't wait to upgrade from my older Mitsubishi TV.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I think "Recertified" is a great way to go. I still have the warranty, tech support, etc... and only paid half the price. The way I see it is refurbished items have had more special attention than new and should work well. On a side note, NEWEGG shipped fast, and I'm impressed with them as an online store.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: refurbished isn't a con, it's just like factory fresh.

wasn't difficult to work the menus to get it all set up how I like and sounds great with my polk 5 speaker setup and klipsch 350.

My computer's sound card is an old (but rock solid) m-audio audiophile 2496 and thus doesn't have 7.1, but 5.1 is great and i have the ability with this to go for 7.1 later all on the cheap while still having high quality audio.

Cons: can't sleep with it?

well the manual on disk and you have to register to yamaha's clunky website system which still won't let me login to get to the firmware updates and manuals in pdf, but nothing against the actual product.

4 out of 5 eggsYAMAHA HTR-5063

Pros: Almost the same as the RX-V567,
Looks like a good deal...haven't got it yet.

Cons: Re #3 reviewer comment:

"BTW the HTR-5063 and the VX567 are the same unit."

Specs for power say 90 watts but does not give full FTC rating as the RX-V567..which might mean power is a little lower..not a big deal.
Also doesn't have the latest Dolby and DTS decoders as the RX-V567 does....again not a big deal but would be nice if it did. I missed the $299 sale on the RX-V567.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent receiver for small/mid living rooms

Pros: Definitely worth the money. No non professionally noticeable sound distortions even when using smaller speakers (Polk RM75). Has a great set of built in features. I use it mainly to watch movies from my computer and I'm very satisfied with the output. YPAO is also a very nice feature where you use a supplied mic to adjust the sound levels of the speakers.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This product could have some optional overlay menus, so that I can see some of the input video/TV in the background while changing the settings on the receiver.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat - Love It.

Pros: Sounds Great. Fairly easy to set up and use. I bought this to replace a 15 year old Sony receiver. Wow was I every missing something. This receiver is so much better.

Cons: Owners Manual Only on CD and hard to understand. On screen set up not intuitive for non-audio guy. Still don't know how to re-program scenes but I have not tried too hard.

Other Thoughts: I also purchased an inexpensive set of 5.1 speakers with this ( YAMAHA NS-SP1800 5.1CH Entry Class Speaker System). They sound so much better than what I had it is amazing. I only kept my original front speakers with 12" woofers and used the Yamahaz for everything else.
