The YAMAHA AVENTAGE line of high-performance AV receivers represents a dramatic, inspired leap forward in audio/video component design. AVENTAGE brings studio grade sound and sophisticated video enhancements to your home with unparalleled attention to detail in design, engineering, and fabrication. Every electrical path, every part, every piece, is rethought and redesigned if necessary to achieve total performance excellence. Materials are tested thoroughly, and the finest are selected to maximize performance. Details that at first glance would not seem to affect the quality of sight, sound and control, are brought together in AVENTAGE components, and in the end produced a work of visual and acoustic art.

The RX-A810 AVENTAGE A/V Receiver features 8-HDMI inputs (one on front panel) and 2-HDMI simultaneous outputs with 3D and Audio Return Channel. Networking capabilities, DLNA 1.5 and Windows 7 certification for countless hours of music streaming enjoyment, iPhone App compatibility, HD Audio decoding with Cinema DSP 3D surround with or without Front Presence Speakers, front panel USB direct digital connection for iPhone/iPod, on-screen GUI, Multi-point YPAO, SCENE buttons, Zone B HDMI and RS-232C interface for custom installation.

  • newegg Network Functions This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. You can connect the receiver to a PC to enjoy Internet Radio, Pandora, Rhapsody, Sirius XM and Napster, and use a Web Browser Control. The AV Controller app lets you control various functions from your iPhone or iPad, etc.
  • newegg AV Controller App for Easy, Convenient Operation The AVENTAGE AV Receivers let you use the Yamaha AV Controller app, a free download from the iTunes App Store to control power on/off and volume, select input and DSP modes and operate other functions from an iPhone, iPad and other devices. An Android app will also be available for maximum compatibility.
  • newegg YPAO Sound Optimization with Multi-Point Measurement YPAO analyzes the room acoustics and adjusts various audio parameters for optimum sound from your listening position, and lets you set up to eight positions. It’s like having a professional installer calibrate your system.
  • newegg SCENE for One-Touch Start The Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for BD/DVD Viewing, CD Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button will automatically launch a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, SiriusXM Listening [model dependent], TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by changing Input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed also.
  • newegg HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D and Virtual Presence Speaker CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers. The actually measured sound field data contain the information of the height of the sound images. CINEMA DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of the sound images so that it creates the accurate and intensive stereoscopic sound fields in a listening room.
  • newegg Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Adaptive DRC automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume level. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels. There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen; everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials, and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you do not want to disturb others.

5 out of 5 eggsOptions Options

Pros: Many many options.
This is a jack of all systems.
Handles it all from Gaming, Classical, Heavy Metal, to Star Wars: New Hope on a soft note.
If you want to get the maximum for the minimum dollar this is the best.
See cons.

Cons: If you are a die hard audiophile you will like this but if you really need serious power I would recommend the next level up. System has a nice smooth system for those that enjoy the quality but if you want some serious SPL or harder bass I would not recommend this one.
If you do not like having to do some internal changes and reading manuals, you will not get the maximum this has to offer. There are plenty of options and tweaks in here.

Other Thoughts: read manual, much to this system than meets the eyes but not for the weak hearted in reading manuals

5 out of 5 eggsTruly Wonderful!

Pros: Every time you buy something new, there are "surprises?" Well, no exception here - except that all of the surprises have been good news! I love the connectivity to both the internet and my own music/video/picture libs on my PCs. Pandora has been particularly sweet. I replaced a 16 year old Yamaha rcvr that was still operating flawlessly. The A810 has been nothing but flawless right out of the box.

We have historically used our receiver to drive speakers throughout the house. But if you wanted to watch TV while someone elsewhere wanted music, the TV had to be watched without surround sound. The Zone 2 system lets you do both at once.

Sound quality is great. The ability to set levels for all of my speakers has really helped balance out the surround. Having initial volumes for Zone 2 has allowed me to set them high and then use my in-wall volume controls to set each room where it is desired. I could not do this with the prior receiver because the master volume controlled everything

Cons: Might be an issue for some - no wi-fi. But my house is completely wired and I prefer the performance of hard-wired anyway.

The on-screen navigation when connected to a PC in your home network is a little clumsy through the remote. A little k/b would have been a wonderful addition. Still, I'm hoping a future firmware upgrade might make navigation a little more intuitive.

Other Thoughts: I was a little concerned that firmware updates might slow me down when turning the unit on (as in my LG BluRay player) but so far it has not been an issue at all.

I understood I had to choose between using the internal 6th & 7th amps for Zone 2 speakers or for my rear center surround speaker. What I did not realize is that the A810 would make the choice for me! Turn on only the main zone and I get a full 6.1 surround (6.2 if I had a 2nd sub). Turn on Zone 2 and the main zone automatically switches to 5.1! One of those pleasant surprises.

On-screen set-up and display is great!

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Awesome

Pros: Incredible amount of options. This is my first own receiver, although I have helped setup a few different ones for various friends and family. I have to say the build quality and the capabilities of this receiver easily warrants its price. I'm very big on connectivity and this receiver delivers, I can control it using my PC or my Android phone.

I currently have my main PC running through this receiver using HDMI connection and digital Optical out(for when I just want audio), the receiver then is ouputs to an Epson Projector and a 7.1 sound system.

I mostly use it to either play music(via pc or netradio) or I use it to watch movies or watch TV all through my PC.

Cons: Could use individual channel inputs?(but this is not usually found in this price range so not really a con)

5 out of 5 eggsWish I could give it 6 stars!

Pros: Best sounding receiver I've ever heard. No doubt much more expensive receivers will sound better, but this is great, and sound quality is what I was most interested in. It seems to do a good job with video as well, but that's less important to me. It has built-in ability to run Rhapsody so I no longer need to stream it by HDMI from my laptop. And the striking thing is how GOOD Rhapsody sounds using this inherent module. I have good equipment throughout my system and know what good sound is, and some of the music I play back from Rhapsody through this module is competitive with SACD or DVD-A through my Oppo player or with my audiophile vinyl. And the Pure Direct mode makes an audible difference, too.

Cons: none come to mind.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent receiver

Pros: Huge improvement compared to my old Phillips surround sound in a box set-up. Haven’t gotten my new speakers yet and wasn’t expecting much difference. I was blown away by how much different the old speakers sound with the new receiver.

Cons: Complicated device to setup and the instructions are lacking on explanations for some of the features. Just makes me wonder what I’m missing out on!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this unit to anyone.

An owner on here was concerned with the background picture if your video source is not on or you are listening to a non-video source. You can change the picture to a grey background in one of the menus.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased so far

Pros: Great sound. This is my first HT system and this receiver is being used to drive Polk speakers in a 5.1 setup. I have the RTi A3 bookshelf speakers with CSi A4 center, FXi A4 surrounds, and the DSWPRO 550wi sub. Since it's my first HT, I don't have much to compare to, but it does a great job to my ears. Surround for movies, sports, TV shows is excellent. Surround sound for Xbox 360 games is unreal. The Pandora integration is also very nice. The on-screen menus and controls look nice and are intuitive.

The web interface is a little clunky, but everything you need to control or read is there and is functional. We use this feature frequently to like/dislike songs on pandora, change volume, stations, etc. without having to be near the TV or even have it on.

All in all, we are very happy with this purchase.

Cons: Tiny gripe that may even have a work around. The receiver throws up a stock screen of a piano when the source selected is not driving the input actively. So for instance, if you have selected your BluRay player but haven't turned it on yet, the receiver shows this stock image of a piano. It would be nice to not display anything at all for those of us who are driving a plasma and want to avoid image retention if possible.

Other Thoughts: I think the web interface would be especially useful for using Zone 2 from another room without immediate access to the receiver. The remote has a switch on it to allow you to control the receiver on Zone 2 through RF I believe, but the web GUI shows you what's playing, volume, etc.

This unit is rather large, especially the depth. It may be difficult to fit it in some cabinets with bulky HDMI cables coming out of the back.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Reciever

Pros: Wow, this unit looks to be well built and heavy. So many options, it's a bit of an overkill for what I need. Using this to power a sub and rears and klipsh speakers. The sound is amazing. Tons of HDMI inputs for all your devices. I have everything hooked to this receiver. Other cool features: Iphone app is ok. Wish there's a real Ipad app as the Iphone app on the ipad is just not the same. DLNA works great as I can stream music from my NAS drive. Pandora is also a cool feature on the unit. Had to update firmware to 1.13 when I got it but the process was easy over the network.

3D bluray looks amazing (make sure to use a good HDMI v1.4 cable).

Cons: None thus far.
