YAMAHA RX-V371 3D 5.1-Channel AV Receiver

Pros: This is a good receiver for the price. It pushes 100w per channel and has 4 HDMI inputs, both good features to have and rare at this price point. I'm pleased with the sound quality, and have had no trouble with the HDMI switching or decoding. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it also does support CEC, which helps to reduce the remote juggling that otherwise often occurs -- turn a device on, and the receiver will automatically switch the input for you. Hit the volume button on your TV remote, and it adjusts the receiver volume. Turn off the TV, the receiver turns off with it. It's very handy.

Cons: No on-screen display, though the fron LCD display is easy to work with. More troubling is that sometimes I lose sound output for no apparent reason. Turning the receiver off and then on again resolves the problem, but I'm concerned that this could be a sign that the receiver is faulty. A phono input would be nice, but it's not a big challenge to run my receiver through a pre-amp, and phono inputs do seem to be a rare commodity these days.

Other Thoughts: I bought a refurb with full foreknowledge that it may not be 100%. This is ultimately just intended to keep me going for a year or so, at which point I'll upgrade to a more recent model. I'm overall happy with the receiver and will likely purchase another Yamaha when the time comes.

Pros: sounds better than my logitech z5500 in term of movies and music output. hdmi out work unlike other complaint.

Cons: i use hdmi gtx 670 to my receiver, so whenever i turn on my receiver, the monitor will flicker off on twice. since it is my first receiver i don't know how good it is against other receiver. but i am upgrading to 7.2 onkyo already and waiting to receive this one.

Other Thoughts: overall i think it is a good for first timer. i do a lot of research to find a good receiver. i like to watch bluray movie and listen to music. so it is 60% music and 40% movie. i hope the onkyo provide adequate.

Pros: HDMI switching for 4 inputs, adequate power for medium size room, tuner works well

Cons: No phono level input for turntable

Other Thoughts: No problems with refurbished unit. Unit appeared like new with accessories. Solved my HDMI switching needs for new HDTV with only 2 inputs.

Pros: I've only had this for a few days and let me tell this is thing is loader with many feature but if you are familiar with A/V receiver then you would that the best setting is "straight" with not no audio processing after the DTS/DD is decoded.

Also speaker config and level and sub are easy to adjust but it will take about a day or two set everything just right.

Movies sound very nice on this system set to "straight"

Cons: Music didn't sound very tight, I think I just have to make more adjustments to bass and front channels for music but otherwise if you are willing to put it the time to make sure everything is set correctly it will sound amazing. I only use it for movies so I haven't played around with music so much.

Other Thoughts: Get some good speakers, I got the Pinnacle MB8000 (Subcompact 8 sub) whole thing is about $900 and this thing yamaha makes those speakers do wonders!

Pros: Nice product with very good price. Everything work as expected, easy to install.

I didn't experience the "HDMI switch doesn't work" problem as other reviewers had suffered in the reviews. might be lucky? ha

Cons: I still think $150 was a little pricey though since there's a refurbished SONY 7.1 receiver with 5 speaker system sold for only $200.

Other Thoughts: powers my polk monitor 50's awesomely :) enough to keep up with a 300w subwoofer

soon to also be powering some polk r150's for the rear channel

Pros: Nice features at this price and had all the HDMI ports that I needed. Sounds great.

Cons: Overheated and constantly activated the protection circuit and shut off until I set it to 6 ohms impedance. Paired this with the definitive tech procinema60. Customer service for yamaha told me to return it when it was a simple setting issue. Barely warm to the touch now. Writing this review so anyone else with this problem doesn't have to spend the time I did to figure it out.

Pros: Great inputs and outputs

Cons: Only one speaker out worked, the rest did not.

Other Thoughts: Even at a ridiculously low price you'd think refurbished still meant 'worked.'

Pros: 4 HDMI in and 1 out. Supports ARC & 3D. Relatively easy set-up and great sound. Unbeatable value at this price ($156 all in).

Cons: Working as expected so none so far.

Other Thoughts: Unit appeared to be new, but remote did have a set of batteries in it already (new set also included).

Pros: For this price the features are unmatched. I will use it to replace a 17 year old Yamaha that still works well but doesn't have HDMI of course. I have only done a quick check on this refurbished unit but all looks well.

Cons: None yet. Worried about others' warranty experience... hope I don't have to use it and they would warranty (within reason) it if needed!

Other Thoughts: I'd buy a bunch of these and stockpile/flip them if I could afford it!
