5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: This thing has surprised me a lot I purchased an onkyo 7.1 system prior to this and it really upset me that at high volume it would all of the sudden drop the sound level by half I think it was over heating. This unit being refurbished I was skeptical as I have never purchased a used electronic yet along online where return would be a pain but so far I cant foresee any issues it has worked perfect right out of the box I love this thing!

Cons: if I had to list a con I would say the online control of some of the features could be a little better as you cant enter a new Pandora station on your phone only select the listed ones on your account. however that being said it works on my computer it works on my phone and it works consistently that's all I could want

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Amazing!

Pros: Easy to Install; easy to calibrate; Airplay a breeze! DSP's are simply fantastic. Terrific value on Newegg! Hearing music/effects in blu-rays that I never knew were there!

Cons: Setting favorites on net radio is a bit tedious (need to log into the net radio server over PC and add from there; no ability to do this through the receiver OSD or app)

Other Thoughts: You won't be disappointed with this receiver; it has enough features for a die-hard techie, and is simple enough to set up for a first-time user.

5 out of 5 eggsAstounding

Pros: Easy setup
Excellent connector layout
Massive number of real and virtual inputs covers pretty much anything you could throw at this thing
Fast media switching
Plenty of power per channel
Very helpful auto-speaker calibration, troubleshooting
Excellent upscaling results

This truly is an amazing device and we are incredibly happy with it. I have been in the market for one of these in the Yamaha series for a few years now, and would have made the jump sooner if my LG TV from a few years back and not been such a good stand in.

Cons: Too many inputs. There are so many input options that Yamaha could not put them all on the remote. To make matters worse, they chose to group all of the streaming inputs under the "NET" umbrella. You have to mash the single button over and over to cycle through them to you find the one you want. To add insult to injury, there is do direct remote command available. This makes your Logitech Harmony rather useless if you stream anything directly from the receiver.

You can route amplifier channels dynamically to another room, but you can't allocate one to an unpowered subwoofer.

Does not support video playback from network sources. (DLNA)

Airplay is audio only.

Other Thoughts: All of the features of this unit are very usable, and well thought out. For example, airplay can be made available, even when the unit is off. Activating Airplay will turn the receiver on. Its just unfortunate that Yamaha didn't implement the video streaming portion of the protocol.

The on screen display has been much talked about, but I found it to be just passable. It falls very short in this area, and shows just how far the old guard companies such as Yamaha have to go to catch up with the new kids on the block. At least its quick and well laid out.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent A/V Receiver

Pros: I purchased this receiver after my 10+ yr old Pioneer bit the dust. I've always purchased Pioneer equipment, but after days of research of competing brands, I chose the Yamaha and can not be happier. This unit has it all, and I must say that the DLNA, Airplay, and Net Radio are excellent features. While the remote is not the greatest (very small print), I doubt that I will ever use it given the well designed iPad/iPhone app along with compatibility with my Logitech Harmony One. I also really like the auto speaker setup as I found myself spending hours trying to tweak my old system for sound balance. I would recommend this receiver to all of my friends except for now I want them to be jealous of me!

Cons: None that I can see - perfect set of features for the price/value point.

5 out of 5 eggsRX-V673BL Refurbished

Pros: Easy to set up and operate. OSD is awesome! AirPlay works great. YPOA makes speaker configuration/adjustment simple. Remote is intuitive and almost every function can be access via OSD or remote easily. ARC works perfectly with HDMI on Panasonic P60UT50. Arrived in factory sealed box with all accessories. Cannot imagine a better deal for under $300 including rebate.

Cons: Some of the lettering on remote buttons is hard to read. Firmware update via network can/will result in "ROM error" and USB update must be performed before unit can then be operated.

Other Thoughts: Don't try and perform firmware update via the network! I have a very fast, stable network connection and it failed anyhow resulting in ROM error. Go to Yamaha site and download the firmware update, extracting it to a USB key. Bought for great Yamaha quality and sound and because it was time to step up to HDMI with my new 60" Panny Plasma.
