5 out of 5 eggsYamaha rocks!

Pros: Typical Yamaha performance so no surprise there. This one being a "B" stock item / factory refurb made it a great buy. No issues out of the box and not a mark or blem the unit or remote. Unit works as new without any problems.

Cons: Has problems registering it on Yamaha'a web side. The model may have been discontinued and it would not accept my model number and it did not appear in the drop down menu.

Other Thoughts: Awesome receiver for a great price. I was hesitant to buy a factory refurb item but it was the last one and the unit I wanted so I gave it a shot. It looks new and has a warranty and so glad I took the chance. Glad I got it.

4 out of 5 eggswell...

Pros: Looks good, sounds good, plenty of connections

Cons: turns itself off occasionally

Other Thoughts: I'd say it was pretty much perfect for my light needs, except it will shut itself off in the middle of a movie, which powers down most everything else through the smart power strip.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value & performance

Pros: Took a chance and bought this refurbished, so far it's performed flawlessly. It showed no indication of wear and tear out of the box; looked brand new. Paid $219 on a shell shocker deal.

Pros: airplay and connected features work flawlessly, as does the iPhone app. I have it connected via Ethernet and it never drops or flakes out on me. Power is adequate for my purposes. Plenty of inputs (HDMI, optical, coax). The screen isn't overly bright or obnoxious. Sound is excellent. I really, really like the iPhone remote control app... it's very powerful and convenient to have (works over WiFi obviously). I hardly touch the actual remote.

Cons: I have no complaints. Be advised this does not have a WiFi adapter, only ethernet. So if you intend to use the connected features make sure you've got a long enough cable or are near a router.

Other Thoughts: I'm extremely pleased with this receiver. It's a tremedous value for what its capabilities are. If you're concerned about buying a refurb, don't be. It's working like a champ going on 3 months now.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied with HTR-4065

Pros: Great sound, great features, easy setup, and a great price. The price on this refurbished product was excellent. The product worked right out of the box. At first I did not setup any video connections. I was able to configure the audio components using just the front panel display, the remote and the manual. Later I connected my flat screen TV to the HDMI output port and used the digital optical link for the sound. Because I connected the TV to the HDMI port and configured both devices for CEC the 4065 turns on/off and the volume changes through the TV functions of the remote.

I have setup FM Radio using auto station discovery which worked well (one or two discovered stations are too weak to hear). I like the flexibility of the configurations of the speakers and the ports. The included manual is excellent except as described in the Cons below. Connecting to the network was as simple as turning on DHCP and plugging in an Ethernet cable. I was able to update the firmware without a problem. This did take about 10 minutes as described in the document at Yamaha's web site.

I setup NET radio and I like have the option of listening to radio stations world-wide and many genres of music. Once I learned how to setup bookmarks (see Cons), this becomes an even more usable capability.

Cons: The web (NET) interface is not as well documented and the web page is too simple and may not be secure. There is no included documentation on how to setup NET radio bookmarks or about the built-in web server.

To setup NET radio Bookmarks a web search sent me to the vTuner web site and I was able to search, listen to, and select web radio stations to bookmark. When I selected a radio station it was immediately available on the bookmark menu. I liked the vTuner web site except that I could not sort on the various columns such as genre, location, etc.

Because the NET radio bookmark process is tied to the vTuner website, it will not work should vTuner go out of business. Of course Yamaha could provide an alternative. There is a warning in the manual that the NET radio function could be unsupported in the future. That would be a real shame.

After turning on the 4065 and entering the 4065's IP address in a web browser a web page appeared. The web page hosted by a web server built-into the 4065 device. From this web page you can change the device name, the IP settings, and load new firmware. No password is needed to access this page or make changes. There should be a password for the page or at least some soothing words about how items on the page are secure from hacking/changing.

Because a web server is included in the firmware it seems to me that Yamaha could have included configuration and setup via the browser interface.

Other Thoughts: Other than some quibbles about the web interface the HTR-4065 has exceeded my expectations. It appears that the information about the RX-473 applies also to the HTR-4065.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: For $230, this unit is the same as the RX 475 (@$400). The amp is as good as anything in low priced receivers, and better than some higher priced ones.
Read the review on by high end equipment reviewer, Chris Heinonen. You'll see what I mean.

Cons: Won't do up video scaling - you'll have to have a blu-ray to do it or spend $400-$500 on a receiver that will.

Other Thoughts: Can't touch it for this money

5 out of 5 eggsLove This!

Pros: Had good luck with Newegg's refurbished products in the past so . . . got this Yamaha to upgrade my theater system. Couldn't be more pleased. Set up was a breeze and it just blows the old Sony away. The On Screen Display is a great improvement. The sound is simply great!

Cons: None, so far.
