5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I know HD DVD is now dead but it's still top of the line hardware and as good as Blue-Ray.. Blue-Ray may have won the war but there are still alot of people that will not gave in to there price as it will hold on to now that HD DVD is gone. i have owned my HD-A3 4 months now and have enjoyed every min of it.. i even got all 7 of my free movies but it's now to late for that rebate. it rocks old DVD's and is worth that investment alone as it and Blue-Ray are the best with old DVD's .. i even picked another brand-new in the box HD-A3 for $89.buxs at CC online just to put back or sell to a family member if needed. this is the best time to buy and come out ahead of the game and not lose money. if you buy Blue-Ray well the next good thing will kill your investment in that player ($399) just because HD DVD is dead doesn't mean the player doesn't work lol and the movies are still all over epay for sell.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: HDMI' 7in 1 sound 720p-1080i rock old DVD's..

2 out of 5 eggsGeekman

Pros: None anymore

Cons: DONT BE FOOLED BY PRICE!
TOSHIBA will not be making anymore HD-DVD product like this anymore. BLU-RAY "won" the HD battle.
What this means is that HD-DVDs will probably disappear soon from store shelves. You will have a great player and nothing to play on it apart from current movies out now. HD-DVD format will die soon. BUY AT OWN RISKS!!

Other Thoughts: Finally, this HD battle is over and I can go get myself a PS3 without fear to lose my money. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upconverting DVD Player

Pros: Upconverts DVDs to 720p and 1080i with supurb quality!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this after the format war ended because I've wanted a good up converting DVD player for the "play" room so that DVDs can "look" HD on the 32in 720p Sammy display. I have tried it on 1080i on a 1080p Sammy and DVDs look awesome. HD DVD looks great too but I only own one title.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Dvd Player

Pros: Excellent HD DVD player even if blue ray is going to beat it out. It upconverts old dvds to a lot higher quality, easy setup, easy to set the format and resolution

Cons: Slow to load movies, found it 2 weeks later for $60 dollars cheaper

Other Thoughts: Good player, the price wasn't too awful

4 out of 5 eggsSimilar to the A2

Pros: My understanding is that the A2 is technically similar to, if not nearly identical to, the HD-A2, which I do own. HD-DVD's look great, no complaints there whatsoever. Firmware update via CDROM worked flawlessly, and only took a couple minutes.

Cons: Start-time is slow, though that is to be expected for an HD player. A little frustrating when playing standard def DVDs, as I miss clicking "Eject" and having the tray immediately open up while the player needs all of 5 seconds to start up. Do not expect to use this as an upconverting player via component. The picture ends up looking worse than with a typical player. Non-copy protected DVDs upconvert beautifully, but purchased DVDs are horrible. If that's your purpose for buying, make sure you use HDMI.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat DVD Player

Pros: Great DVD upconverter, my standard DVDs look theater quality. Easy set-up, no firmware upgrade required out of the box. Too bad this format appears to be failing, but for the price, 2 free movies in the box and a rebate for 5 more from Toshiba; it's money well spent.

Cons: Netfix stopped carrying HD DVDs... Hello Blockbuster. Load times are not that bad. No HDMI cable but Newegg has them cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Look And Sound Of Perfect For The Masses

Pros: The picture and sound are first rate, even if the max output resolution is 1080i. Great player for the price. Fully functional HD-DVD format won't be replaced by the same thing in a year like current Blu-ray will be.

Cons: This guy is optical only and doesn't support coaxial digital audio. This in itself is minor, though because small, inexpensive converters exist to create a coax signal from an optical signal.

5 out of 5 eggsJust great!

Pros: Great HD DVD player. It is very easy and simple to use. Great quality, shows perfect.

Cons: I wish they could change the design of the dvd player little bit.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was super fast. I ordered the item and next day I received it. Newegg is amazing!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat player for the money!

Pros: This is an excellent player. Picture quality is amazing. I am viewing with a 1080p DLP 56". 1080i output is just fine for me as my HDTV deinterlaces perfectly to show the 1080p goodness. I have not had one issue since I purchased back in November.

Cons: Slow load times like everyone says. I compensate by turning everything on and then go get the snacks and drinks.

Other Thoughts: If your HDTV deinterlaces well (you can google to find if is it passes tests) then this player will work great for you. YOU DO NOT NEED A 1080P PLAYER to get 1080p picture on your set.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Bang fo the Buck

Pros: 150 Dollars...whats not to like. For those of you that have had your HD tv for like 3 yrs, and will only go up to 1080i then this is for you. No need in going out and buying a 1080p player when your TV can't even hit it. Even if BLU-RAY wins the war, they have cheaper players that can play both formats. So even 3yrs from now you HD-DVDS will not be obsolete. Oh yea...GREAT PICTURE.

Cons: Slow Load Time on Dics
