Out-of-the-box bad
- Pros: N/a, see cons below.
- Cons: The digital tuner was inop right out of the box and I had to send it back. Of all the products I've bought from Newegg this is my first return. Although this defective product was a problem with the manufacturer and not Newegg's faulty, Newegg went out of their way to made RMA'ing it back as painless as possible.
A digital tuner and DVD recorder for my Toshiba 32" monitor at last!
- Pros: Now my Toshiba 32" 32HLC56 has a analog and digital tuner.Oh yeah,it plays and records standard definition DVDs too.As a DVD recorder,it does exactly what it's supposed to do,nothing more or less.
- Cons: The remote.
One word comes to mind:Yuck!
Why didn't they backlight this thing?
- Other Thoughts: Although Toshiba is known for it's uh...not so good DVD units ,(excellent TVs though) the digital tuner creates a great picture.I am taking one egg away because of the remote, (that's where a Logitech Harmony universal remote comes in) but otherwise,this thing is a great alternative those DVR contraptions.In essence this is VCR with a DVD instead of VHS tape.
Toshiba D-R560
- Pros: Does everything expected right from the start. Excellent picture quality. Easy to program. Easy to hook up (with HDMI). Excellent quality when recording over the air digital broadcasts. Newegg's shipping amazingly fast.
- Cons: Printed instruction somewhat confusing but plentiful.
- Other Thoughts: Media choices somewhat confusing but works well with RW disks (both + and -).

Just connect it to your cable or satellite box, insert a disc and you are ready to go. The Regza Link lets you use the control from your Regza TV to start recording remotely.
The built in tuners free you from satellite or cable TV for digital TV reception. The ATSC tuner will pull the signals from the air. There is also a QAM tuner for watching in the clear digital cable channels.
