Pros: Seems to be doing a good job burning some of the programs I've recorded on my DVR. The menu is a little involved, but take your time & read it over a few times and you will learn its functions. Very few products come with good clear instructions! (The Record Mode button that you press repeatedly to change recording qualities is located right next to the Record Mode and there instructions are confusing on that point) I like the feature that lets you put a Title to each segment you burn or record, plus many other bells & whistles. I had a Panasonic, but it was a piece of junk, it only lasted for about 50 recording then it completely died. I used to be a great fan of Panasonic products but lately I have had very poor results with them!
Cons: Everytime I burn a DVD from a recording the Player/Recorder has a very warm or almost overheating aroma coming from it....I hope that it is just because it is new....time will tell!

Pros: Digital reception is clear and locks in quickly. Manual is easy to read. All functions are easy to locate. Editing recorded material is a plus (think "commercial removal").
Cons: Nine times out of ten, when I set the unit to record a program using the timer, the unit will not record. Fresh media installed every time, program double-checked. gives error message of "program overlap" even if there is only one program. Unable to resolve problem.
Other Thoughts: I bought this unit because I was so pleased with the Toshiba HD-DVD player I bought a couple of years ago. I am very disappointed. Although the reception of the digital channels is clear and it plays DivX-encoded .avi files, I bought it to replace my aged VCR/DVD-R combo unit. I record shows when I'm not home to watch them, and this unit almost ALWAYS does not record. For me, the "cons" outweigh the "pros."
