5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: Great to get on sale. Clean and clear picture and discs run suprising quiet.

Cons: Larger than I would have anticipated.

Other Thoughts: If you can catch it on sale, it's totally worth it.

1 out of 5 eggs**** DONT BUY THIS *****

Pros: No comments

Cons: No Comments

Other Thoughts: I had bought this and sent it to my sister. The very first time they started watching the photos from their Memory Card, they saw a photo and then put that on StandBy. After a while smoke started coming out of the player. The return policy says that I need to return that in 30 days and I might not be able to return that.
Dont take a risk in buying this product. This would be waste of money

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Picture and sound are blu-ray quality

Cons: Slow
No Firmware available, will not play current discs
Slow
Does not play current discs?

What is the point of owning a blu-ray player that has been our for months and is still on the terrible original firmware that doesn't work?

SLOW

Doesn't play new discs.

Smell what I'm standing in?

Other Thoughts: There is no way to update the firmware though the internet, only via disc. The wonderful Toshiba firmware section only has updates for televisions. Wonderful.

Terrible.

5 out of 5 eggsNice player

Pros: I've only owned this box for a week, but so far it's been great, we watched Avatar on it, and everyone loved it. The box upscales quite good with regular DVD's as well, especially when you consider the price, it's worth it to buy this box even if you are just playing DVD's and you need an HDMI output. For the money you can't go wrong.

Cons: The only thing I noticed was long loading times of blu ray disc's, but I know this may be common for most blu ray players, other than that, it works fine.

Other Thoughts: I'm a happy camper, and NE shipped it super fast.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Inexpensive but quality player. Paired with a Toshiba REGZA television and HDMI connection, you can control many common functions of the player via REGZA-LINK. This isn't an exclusive feature for Toshiba devices as REGZA-LINK is just HDMI-CEC, so feel free to mix and match products.

The remote control is intuitive enough and feels sturdy. You wont have to worry about small falls (about 1 meter) to the floor.

Supports profile 2.0 out of the box.

Cons: The upconversion features of regular DVDs are wasted on most newer televisions as they tend to have their own upconversion methods. You're paying for a feature you likely wont use. (Not that you're paying very much at all.)

The menu system took some practice and fiddling to understand. I admit I went to the manual a couple times before I had it all figured out.

Other Thoughts: I've not used some of the extra functions like the ethernet connection, sd card, pictures, etc. My review only covers playback and manipulation of blu-ray and DVD video.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: Excellent Blu-ray player. I have not updated the firmware but feel that there is no reason to do now since everything is working like it should. I love the 1080p and how it looks on my Toshiba 40". Load times are pretty good for the price I paid for this with free shipping. As of now, I could not be more pleased.

Cons: I have had one lockup so far but simply shut it off and powered backed on. Other than the lockup, nothing minor or major has happened, but I cannot take off an egg for something like that. For as much as I know, it could have been the disc was scratched.

Other Thoughts: I brought it home to show my parents what Blu-ray can do and how it looks on their HDTV. Watched Avatar and my Mom commented that it looked really crisp and clear. At first my Dad did not want anything to do with Blu-ray but now he wants to know how much it will cost for me to leave it here with them. Maybe the key to sales is home product demonstrations and someone who can be trusted?

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Garbage

Pros: Regz-Link

Cons: Watched 5 Movies on it , now the hdmi port doesn't work, Toshiba TV says "Invalid HDMI format". I have replaced all the HDMI Cables to verify it' snot the cables. The Composite port still works, but is usesless for HDMI.

Other Thoughts: I love Toshiba, but this product has really make me cautious about buying anymore items... It's not even really a toshiba design, they just stamped their name on some other companies garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsPass on this one

Pros: Upscales dvds ok, havent compaird to other ones though. Have had play back speed problems once in while though.

Cons: Just got done have-way through watching my very first blu-ray movie and the speed is to fast for regular play. Nothing can be done except letting it cool down, i think the CPU is being taxed to much is my guess. Pass on this one, its not worht it. My Toshiba dvd recorder does the same thing, this is my last purchase of Toshiba products.

Other Thoughts: NO more Toshiba, was hoping for a comback agaisnt the giant Sony, but their products have failed mah.
