2 out of 5 eggsIt is ok

Pros: It served it's purpose at the time and I knew I wasn't getting a top of the line Blue Ray player...

Cons: It is noisy when first loading a Blue-Ray movie. Wireless capabilities are alright.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money now if you are thinking about getting a Blue-Ray player. Find a much better one for same price or save up and get a better one.

1 out of 5 eggsToo bad there isn't an option for zero eggs

Pros: low cost

Cons: Horrible, right out of the box. Couldn't play movies. Garbage. Toshiba's support said they don't handle BD players anymore, so I'm on my own.

Newegg took it from there and set it right.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Yugo of Blu-Ray players

Pros: Makes a decent coaster or cutting board

Cons: This player is clunky, sluggish and unresponsive. The controls are clumsy and hard to use. Yeah, I know, how hard can a blu-ray remote be to use? Annoyingly hard, actually. It sounds like there is a punch card computer fighting with R2D2 inside of it. I had to have it replaced once, and it stopped working again today, so that's twice since Thanksgiving 2011. It has to be unplugged to reset it sometimes, and often it refuses to turn off, or do anything at all. It will find any weakness in your WIFI and exploit it, so that it doesn't work. I hate this player.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works

Pros: When it works it does what it's supposed to do and that's great. wireless setup is a snap as are most of the other operations.

Cons: This unit has issues. Sometimes it will cut off and won't come back on until being unplugged for 5-10 seconds. Sometimes it will randomly freeze and/or reboot. All of these symptoms have gotten worse over time. The newest is that netflix will lock up randomly now.

Other Thoughts: I like the unit when it works, but the longer I have it the fewer times there are when it works. This will be replaced with a competitor's brand.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wireless and easy to setup.

Cons: So disappointed in this product. I'm a PC/Laptop Repair Specialist and Toshiba usually puts out a very decent product. Just had so many different problem with this product I'll have to chalk it up as a defective unit. Slow to boot/load and I could barely navigate the menus. Picture quality would change while viewing. Returned as Defective.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a bargain player

Pros: It plays discs adequately when it does play. You get what you pay for.

-Built-in wi-fi is terrible, no range and needs to be constantly reconfigured
-When it overheat, it freezes, and then restarts

Other Thoughts: I bought this last year with gift cards and money owed from other people. Toshiba has had a good name with me in other products, so I figured the BD player can't be all that bad. For one, the built-in wi-fi needs to be reconfigured every time it is turned on. Another is that the unit constantly overheats itself, and as noted, it will freeze and restart itself very slowly. I wouldn't recommend this unit, I wish I got a PS3 for just movie watching instead.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: It's light and has a pretty blue BlueRay logo

Cons: Wireless setup was a nightmare. I had to advertise my SSID in order to get the device to "see" my network. I could kind of live with that.... Then it wouldn't accept the DHCP address offered to it by my router. I statically configured the IP address and then it wouldn't resolve DNS (no NetFlix for you!) even though the DNS server addresses were active and up as verified from 2 other systems (1 wireless the other wired).

Looked up the problem and it seems that Toshiba support is telling folks they need a wireless LAN adapter if they want the BR to connect through a router. One of the reasons I bought this device was so I DIDN'T have to buy a network adapter. I cannot confirm what I read but I can verify this device did not play nicely on my network (D-Link DIR-655 wireless router)

RMA'd what I consider a piece of junk.

1 out of 5 eggsFlawed design/manufacturing

Pros: If it worked like it was supposed to, it'd be a good value.
BUT it doesn't, so don't waste your money and time on such a cxxp-shoot!

Cons: First one worked fine until it completely DIED on the 125th day, when I discovered the darn thing doesn't have a usual 1-year warranty... !!!????!!! I was left with a worthless piece of junk, un-repairable and un-returnable.
I stupidly thought, well a SECOND unit will likely last, though... WRONG ! On the fifth time of use, IT started blanking a mostly white screen, and then just stayed that way. Total poor quality, flawed execution, and a waste of time/money...

Other Thoughts: No WONDER this is being highly discounted, the market is being flooded with REFURBED units... so many are returned, they must do something with all the excess failed units.
Caveat Emptor
