2 out of 5 eggsPrivacy Issue...

Pros: We used to like the T*shiba interface, quite a bit... They have excellent search functions.

Cons: The latest player update contains a EULA, which plainly states that T*shiba and its affiliates will regularly invade the user's privacy, upon acceptance (I read the fine print.). They also make it difficult to refuse, because the acceptance and/or failed network banners reset, each time the machine is power cycled. Power cycling is necessary when you use online providers like Netfl*x or H*lu Plus, as these boxes do occasionally lock up, like most any.

Other Thoughts: This was our second 2400, as I wanted both of ours to match, so the wife wouldn't have to continue to struggle with two different interfaces and remotes. The 3400 is the identical box, with wifi added.

1 out of 5 eggsLocking Up During Streaming...

Pros: At first, GUI and menus are great for those without a lot of thechnical knowledge.

Cons: The machine is often choppy when watching any streaming videos; it becomes completely useless quickly, and we all run into my bedroom to try ti catch the rest on our excellent Sony BDP-BX58 Blu-Ray, DVD, CD, and streaming video player. The Sony is amazing.

1 out of 5 eggsComme ci, comme ca...

Pros: Plays Blu-Ray and usual DVDs, flawlessly. Lots of features. Non-tech type friends and family apprecited the many GUI features. At first, it seemed to be more accessible to people with fewer computer skills, but with the constant lock-up during streaming.

Cons: We bought this to replace our Toshiba BDX2150, which was having major problems streaming. It has many of the same problems.

Other Thoughts: Swapping the Toshiba BDX2400KU for the Toshiba BDX2150, didn't help at all

1 out of 5 eggsno wi fi

Pros: will access hulu plus and vudu

Cons: nowhere is it mentioned that this player does not have a built in wifi that it requires an additional wifi adapter. pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and over an hour later i finally discovered that the option i had purchased will only support an ethernet connection, so i pulled out the long cable and ran it to my router, and low and behold, it won't connect that way either. so i no connectivity through either cable or wifi. apparently someone decided that since you had to buy a wifi adapter that they would knock that cost off of the blu ray player, but wouldn't tell anyone that they needed it.
