5 out of 5 eggsLove Pioneer

Pros: Joystick control makes navigating features a breeze. I like the improvements over former Pioneer unit with small buttons. I got this for my IPod/ITouch. I am able to scan the best signals for radio stations with level 1 through 4 channel feature which is Pioneer's version of search/scan radio button.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I like the LCD display over the former OEL display I had. Newegg shipped this out on Monday, arrived on Tuesday, I installed it on Wednesday.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Receiver

Pros: Versatile and accurate unit. The USB feature is indispensable. Two aux input capability. Remote makes adjusting while driving safer. Four-channel pre-outs for external power. Excellent frequency response.

Cons: No separate sub pre-out (combined with rear) so this unit would be excellent for applications that use two channels plus sub - i.e. pick-ups. The MFC is a bit sensitive, so the remote comes in handy for troglodytes like myself with mitts the size of waffle irons.

Other Thoughts: I used the DEH-P3100UB's pre-outs to supply signal to a four-channel amp for front and rear, and daisy-chained a separate low-pass filtered signal to a mono-output amp from the four-channel's pass-through line-out for sub amplification. This setup works great for me and offsets the negative aspects of not having separate sub pre-outs in addition to front and rear. Some reviewers have bad-mouthed this unit for reasons I have not experienced. Feel safe in purchasing a solid Pioneer receiver in the lower-middle price point. It's worth the money.

1 out of 5 eggsDreadful Receiver

Pros: Easily installed.

Cons: Many negatives: Somewhat flimsy construction, counter-intuitive operation (Radio presets seem to be a subset of the standard radio bands), radio band function is wholly separate from function selector, and, to sum up, just not a good radio to use while driving. Additionally, it just does not sound even as good as the stock, 2000 Honda radio it was replacing, let alone the Aiwa that had recently failed and replaced the original Honda Radio for the last nine years. To sum up, beyond the mediocre sound, this receiver just seems like it was designed for the convenience of either the Pioneer engineering team or for people who just never got used to using most of the functions of a car radio with the need to refer to an instruction book (!). (Instruction books are good, of course, but even after understanding it, it feels like I am going through a maze just to get to another FM preset or to listen to my iPOD.)

Other Thoughts: Perhaps designing a receiver with all of these functions but with such poorly laid out controls would be appropriate in a boom box or compact system (The concept is all right, especially the idea of playing music stored on USB storage devices), but this is not something to use in a moving vehicle. Did I mention that it sounds like @#$%?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unit

Pros: I got this unit when my other one started eating CD's. I wanted one that was simple, yet had many features, and after looking for ages, this was the obvious choice. After looking at hundreds of units that had insane displays, the oldschool LED white-on-black readout on this won me over in an instant. Now I won't burn a hole in the lower right corner of my eyes when I drive at night. Also, there aren't too many buttons, which at first was fairly confusing, but once I got the hang of it, controlling the stereo was VERY natural (and I drive stick, so that's important). I love this thing.

Cons: Like I mentioned before, it is confusing to control to start off with, but you'll get over it. The only other gripe I have with it is that when you have it set to "Random" and you hit "Next," it goes to the next track in sequence instead of going to a random track.

Other Thoughts: I produce music, and even though I don't have the kind of sound system in my car that I would rely on for accurate sound to master from, I do like to preview new tracks in my car because it gives me a more detached and objective perspective on the music. Before getting this, I've wasted dozens of CD-R's burning new tracks to listen to, but now that I have a USB port, it's as simple as copy and pasting them on my PC to my Thumb drive, and going for a ride.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: easy to install, amazing sound, awesome ipod USB interface

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was shocked how much better this sounded than my previous pioneer, i wasn't expecting the jump in quality because they are both 50X4 ...I dont understand to much about what that means, but since it was the same on both i figured the sound would be the same...i was way off....this stereo with 4 4-way pioneer speakers, 1 amp and 2 10inch subs sounds amazing...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good sound and radio pickup.

Cons: Very hard to see display in daylight as it is LCD gray on a black background and the polarization is not exactly matched to polarized sunglasses, which makes the display even darker.
Controls are not completely intuitive. Difficult to set up and the book is in correct English but not easy idiomatic English.
No timed scan on FM, you have to keep pushing the jog control.

Other Thoughts: No FLAC playback (but no one else has it either).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Excellent bought it to replace my factory stereo on my Nissan which was outdated, so far works better than expected.

Cons: A little too high tech for me but manageable.

Other Thoughts: Read the users manual carefully before messing with the equalizer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound

Pros: I was using the factory stereo system on my Acura 98 TL and the CD player started malfunctioning so I upgraded to this stereo. Overall, I like the customizable equalizer (along with some nice presets), the green lcd buttons and display thats easy on your eyes (as opposed to the bright and fancy blue ones others have), great sound, and the extra bass it now gives to my factory 6x9's in the back seat. I never knew my 6x9 could pump out so much solid bass until I got this stereo.

Cons: When I have my USB device connected, if I'm playing a song in a folder and I want to navigate around other songs in the same folder, I have to start navigating from the root folder every time of my device and go back to the same folder again to look for other songs.

Other Thoughts: Just a note about the multi-control knob, which is like your joystick for navigating around the menus and such -- I find it hard to control the volume with ease compared to my old stereo which had the smooth knob (it didn't click around while turning it), so now its hard to raise/lower the volume in one swift turn like before. Not really a con I suppose, since it does a whole lot more than just controlling the volume.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Kinda works. I ordered a Pioneer DEH-P6900UB in 2007 for my car. I got this radio for the usb. I got an external WD 150GB passport and has been working perfect sence.

Cons: So I got this radio for my wife's car because newegg discontinued the DEH-P6900UB. Before I ordered this radio I check the specs and the booklet to make sure it could handle an external drive. The users manual says it can handle an external drive up to 250GB. I got everything installed and guess what, I CONNECT THE EXTERNAL DRIVE WITH MUSIC ON IT TO THE USB AND THE RADIO SAYS NO DEVICE.

Other Thoughts: If you want this radio for an external hard drive, DO NOT BUY THIS. If you want to us an external drive, do a search for a Pioneer DEH-6900UB. You will be very satisfied with this radio. It’s a shame newegg no longer sells this radio
