Not that long ago, all you needed was a stereo receiver/amplifier with enough inputs and you could handle your TV, your stereo, your CD player, your radio, and maybe, some vinyl records. Now we have digital high definition video, various digital sound sources, and still have the “traditional” ones, too. Our options just got a lot more complicated.
Pioneer aims to help simplify things again. Not just a radio receiver with thirty AM/FM presets, not just a stereo amplifier for your CD player, this unit is also a sophisticated switching center for most of your audio and video needs. 3 HDMI 1080p inputs, 2 component video inputs and 3 AV inputs, satellite radio ready, iPod compatible through a USB port, 4 digital audio inputs, and an analog multi-channel input (up to six inputs), and a remote control that can not only control the receiver, but many of the components hooked up to it.

Best Price for DTSHD and DolbyTruHD
- Pros: Hands down the GUI interface and Advanced MCACC set up is my favorite feature. Between the mic and full EQ in manual setup you can get the perfect sound. Although the MCACC does a wonderful job at calibrating. If you have multiple places where you sit and watch a movie (i.e a sofa then your recliner) like I do. You can save, I believe up to 3 or 6 (Can't remember off the top of my head) memorized MCACC positions. Which allows you to have geared listening to wherever you sit. By far my favorite feature.
The I have tested BD's and HDDVD's through HDMI to the Pioneer then passed to my Samsung DLP and the sound is amazing. Uncompressed PCM in the movie "Signs" is astounding. My mother, who isn't an audiophile, even commented on the details. To quote her "It feels like I am outside running through the corn fields too!"
If you switch inputs that are connected through HDMI it auto switches to the correct input.
Remote has everything on it. :)
- Cons: Only con I can think of off the top of my head is the heat this bad boy puts out. I am in the process of figuring, either another place for it, or a small fan modded to my cabinet.
- Other Thoughts: Overall I am highly satisfied with this purchase.
You could get the Denon counterpart to this Receiver but this one is great for the price. You won't be disappointed! I wasn't
Outstanding Sound Quality
- Pros: Outstanding sound quality when compared to other mid-range av receiver competition - onkyo, denon, yamaha, to name a few. Great connectivity. Comes with an ipod/iphone cable. Super easy setup. Clear, easy to understand graphical user interface. Auto speaker calibration. Hi-end design. Lots more features.
- Cons: Confusing manual. Just make sure to read it over.
- Other Thoughts: Some people have complainted about it being tight in the back for speaker wires, I use banana plugs and found it to be very easy setup.

very very good
- Pros: This thing does it all
- Cons: It said it comes with HDMI 1080p Video Repeater which i did not come with & one of my 3 component plugins is bad but who cares all my hdmi's work just fine and that's what counts.
- Other Thoughts: For thoses who are looking for the receiver to say Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio receivers won't say it because it decodes it as direct sound (pcm direct,pure direct or analog direct) use the stream direct option on this receiver. For PS3 users switch your PS3's sound option to "PCM" to get HD audio.
Its so easy
- Pros: Easiest setup ever. Plug the speakers in, plug the mic in, and auto tune.
- Cons: The pioneer HDMI link is not so hot. If the receiver is on, and then the TV is turned on, the receiver will shut off. Same issue with an Xbox360 also causing the receiver to shut off.
Even better is watching cable with TV and receiver on (obviously), then turning on the Xbox which shuts down the receiver, which in turn turns off the TV.
The only work around I have found is to make sure the receiver is the last piece to be turned on, or just turn off KURO link. Nice idea, but for the extra hassle it causes it earns a meh.
- Other Thoughts: Item is used with a Toshiba 46 Regza and Xbox360. Take 5 energy speakers.
Weight does not equal high quality electronic components.
It does not mean the unit has a good power supply.
Just because your caps are big, does not mean they are necessary. And if they are necessary, you have a poor power supply.
Please quite using weight as a measure of quality people. Just because it is heavy does not mean it is durable. It just means it hits the ground with more force then something lighter.

- Pros: After making all connections to the Klipsch Quintet sound is excellent. autocalibration helps a lot although it feels low volume on the rear speakers, this can change of course with advanced calibration.
