5 out of 5 eggsBang for the buck! Lasts forever.

Pros: It powers most speakers under the sun just fine. At one point in time, I used it in an emergency to power 2 18" DJ speakers for 4 hours straight. I was very impressed at its ability to project so much power though those giant speakers in that gymnasium. No, I'm not a professional but I can tell you that this is very reliable. Me and my friends have had TONS and TONS of luck with Pioneer. Especially this item in particular.

Cons: The main speaker connectors are annoying and cause the wires to get in the way of other things... Just seems like a stupid design. However its behind the stereo so I realllllly don't care.

Other Thoughts: I bought this at a garage sale 4 years ago for $40. Best purchase ever.

1 out of 5 eggsdead

Pros: Worked great. Sounded great. HDMI worked well.

Cons: Power supply died at exactly 1 year.

Other Thoughts: Didn't bother to repair it. Trying not to think about my loss. Makes me angry. Last Pioneer I will buy. Bought it at a big blue and yellow box store, not New Egg.

2 out of 5 eggsIt lasted two years

Pros: I got this receiver at the same time as my speakers and it made them sound perfect. I am not an audiophile but this receiver combined with my energy speakers produced the best sound I've ever heard out of a home theater system.

Cons: Reliability. This unit was a 5 star for me until it died. I believe the power supply failed. Now I am very disappointed with it as it caused me an unexpected expense.

I guess "you get what you pay for" applies well in this case. I don't know if my unit is a lemon or you can expect the same thing to happen to you in 2 years with this receiver.

Other Thoughts: I am going to spend more money on a receiver this time around as I do not want to replace another. Receivers at this price must be skimping on something. This thing was too good to be true, unfortunately.

1 out of 5 eggsthe price and description sounded good....but

Pros: Looked good coming out of the box

power came on

Cons: **CAUTION TO EVERYONE**... This receiver can NOT handle the signal tranfer via HDMI cable from the receiver to the speakers and tv. Customer service said i have a "weak signal strength". Uh, coming directly from a cable high def receiver/dvr???? I don't think so.
After me and my friend (who is a genius at home theater setup) tooled with this item for 3 hours, we could not get barely an audio signal going from the HDMI to my $1000 polk audio speakers, and the signal transfer from HDMI to the $2000 52" Samsung 1080p LCD TV kept flickering and cutting out.
In my opinion........this receiver can not handle what it claims it can. Just be very leary with this product. I see several reviewers claiming that theirs works just fine. Maybe....but, there are always lemons in every batch, AND, at Best Buy, there were about 10 of these returned for the same reason when i was shoping around for a replacement.

4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done!

Pros: The sound is great from all my audio sources. Have my HD CableTV hooked into this rcvr via HDMI and out to my TV via HDMI. The image quality is still excellent on my HDTV and the sound is great from this rcvr.

Cons: I had wired my house with in-wall banana plug connectors. Wish it had all speaker channels on banana plugs, but only the front speakers are. Only 2 HDMI inputs, but i knew this going in. Didn't realize how much i would be using HDMI. Should have moved up in model to get more inputs. Really my faults and not the recievers fault.

Other Thoughts: -Desktop computer using SPDIF
-HD CableTV on HDMI
-PS3 on HDMI with switch box
-XBox on HDMI with switch box
(PS3 and XBox hooked into a cheap HDMI switch for one HDMI cable into the reciever. A nice cheap alternative than upgrading to a higher model, but not as clean looking.)
-WII using component cables

All hooked up with no problems. The HDMI switch was a nice add-on.

5 out of 5 eggsbest value 4 the $

Pros: Nice price and it even came with 2 HDMI cables. This rcvr is just what you'd expect from Pioneer. It has everything that you want for small theater setup. HDMI audio decoding is available as well and fairly easy to manuever.

Cons: none so far

5 out of 5 eggsGreat entry level HT receiver

Pros: Great price for value for an entry-level HT receiver.

HDMI X 2 in/1out works for me, great to dispense with superfluous cabling.

Movies on D* now come over in 5.1 DD glory, a revelation to me. (easy to make it pass-through if you want just TV sound) Audio seems clear, clean and muscular.

Lots of options. Display not overbearing. Remote is useful--a keeper--although for the most basic unified HT functions we use our Harmony, which this unit plays with very nicely.

Has a 2nd zone capability, stereo only, maybe good for a patio set in the future?

Price alert kicked in for me just in time for BF, free shipping and the Egg threw in a couple of HDMI cables.

Beat the **** outta any other retailers out there.

Cons: Most complicated setup I've encountered so far, but now at least I've got all my cable ends labeled for the next time!

The manual was labyrinthine. Normally I wouldn't notice, but had to read this one to complete the installation correctly.
(The English was perfect though!)

Other Thoughts: On my way to becoming the Noah of newegg---gotta have one (preferably TWO!) of everything before the flood.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great "basic" unit. I've got a PS3, Wii, HD-DVD Player, and HD-DVR wired through this unit. The sound is very clear. Set up is easy using the manual. If you need a basic but great sounding receiver, this is a great choice!

Cons: Would love to have a 3rd HDMI port, but I can't knock lower the rating because it only has 2 since the product description clearly states 2 HDMI ports. Would like even more sound/EQ tweakability.

5 out of 5 eggsAs expected

Pros: As expected, this thing has some power and it sounds great. Looks good, no problem with overheating yet and does everything I need. For the price, you can't find better.
Ordered one night, came here second day after, fast shipping.
Package was perfect.

Cons: None yet. I havent experienced any overheating but I have a lot of room above it.

Other Thoughts: Setup is as any other 5.1 receiver.
The remote control does look a little weird at first, but you get used quick.
