5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Hi-Fi System

Pros: It's a Pioneer ELITE! Excellent quality sound from the speakers (designed by British high-end speaker manufacturer KEF). Receiver supports MP3 music from either USB input (You can play music right from a USB flash drive!!!), CD or AUX. Includes iPod cable that works flawlessy with my iPod Touch 2nd Gen., Super Audio CD support!!!!, Pioneer's Sound Retriever technology really does improve the sound quality for MP3 & the radio. Ability to stream digital audio from your PC.

Internet Radio support with the ability to access 100's of stations, very nice feature & it really expands the amount of music, news etc available to you right from your stereo (without turning on your PC), very convenient.

Absolutely beautiful black glossy design (both the speakers & receiver front) with some brushed metal on the top of the receiver unit itself. This balance exudes quality & sophistication for the entire system.

Cons: Speakers are HEAVY! Granted, it is no surprise considering the quality and craftsmanship taken when designing them. Only a pain when moving the system or during initial setup.

iPod cable while effective in delivering good quality audio to the amplifier unit it does NOT charge the music player while connected. This is only a minor annoyance since I am using this in my bedroom and already have a charger nearby.

No WiFi built-in. While this supports ethernet, there is no wireless so it does limit where you setup your system if you are looking to stream music from your PC.

No HD Radio capability. I knew this when I purchased it and support for it is mediocre; however, those searching for this capability will have to search elsewhere.

Regular price is a bit high; however, you are paying for a high-end system and with this one you get what you pay for (If you can afford it).

Other Thoughts: I purchased this system to replace an aging Sony mini stereo system (wanted something with MP3 & Super Audio support since I have a large collection of both formats). In addition, I wanted a system that allowed for a clean & easy attachment of my iPod. Finally, I was desperately searching for a true Hi-Fi system without spending thousands for the components. This Elite system was on sale for $479.99 (regular price is $1799.99). I jumped it ASAP and I am not disappointed in the slightest!!!

This system will replace the vast majority of stereo systems out there and provide you with a sophisticated, high-quality & absolutely stunning listening experience. You have not heard music until you have listened to SACD, even "up-converted" MP3 & FM radio sounds pretty darn good now.

This is a great system and at the prices that Newegg is asking for (free shipping just sweetens the deal even more) it is a no-brainer. Other than the few minor quibbles I mentioned, this Pioneer is perfect A+++

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect Compact System

Pros: -Extremely versatile with new features hard to find in other systems..
-Great sound approaching much larger units.
-Lots of tweaks to improve sound from various sources.
-Very efficient -- runs VERY cool! No heat even on hot days.
-Price is great (when on sale)

Cons: An optical port would have been nice.
Pioneer must have had a lot of these units left over as the manufacturing date was Sept. 2007 -- not a huge issue considering price paid though (compared to retail).

Other Thoughts: Great little unit with truly excellent sound... but not out of the box. The speakers require some time to bring out their best sound -- this is expected with good quality speakers, and they surely are.
The sound (full range) is amazing for the size and the bass response reaches very low considering there is no sub-woofer. No lack of volume unless you like to hurt your ears. Easy to run it louder than you realized as there is no distortion...

Small point, but considering what this unit was designed to sell for Pioneer should have used a nice raised gold "Elite" badge on the front of the receiver. It would have complimented the beautiful piano finish.

5 out of 5 eggsGot to write a review! Eggcellent buy!

Pros: Beautiful glossy finish, awesome sound, good bass
Great and reduced price
Plays SACD greatly
Tons of Internet Radios (thru lan connection) I mean tons!
Stream music from your PC (I personally use Tversity for that purpose)
Full control of your ipod, sirius satellite or xm with remote
Connected 3.5" 120GB external HDD (formatted in fat32 - wont read NTFS) and my library got even better!
Plays FLAC files from USB
Eggcellent Customer Service - Read Other Thoughts
This Pioneer Elite product family!

Cons: No HD radio tuner
Display LCD is a little weird (but you can turn it off with remote)
Does not play .ogg files
Sometimes Internet Radio connection drops (would say 5%)
Not enough power from USB to feed 2"5 external HDD, this unit provides enough juice for Flash drives (5V - 500mA) or you'll need external Power supply for external HDDs
No optical in

Other Thoughts: Newegg customer service is above rating: I've seen this item about 2-3 weeks ago on Newegg.ca (yes Canada) at 499 and was at 699 on Newegg.com (yes here in US) I chatted with a Customer Service about that and.... next day item showed at 499! I went straight ahead and bought it. I then received the July newsletter and noticed that you could get the item 100 cheaper by entering "the magic code" I chatted once more with a Customer Sce Rep and got my request 50% honored! EGGCELLENT Cust SCE!

This item is really awesome and plays it all and I'm very satisfied with it. Pioneer gave us an excellent product right there and I think it's a steal at this price!
The finish is really beautiful and sound is definitely at my expectations

I'm a big fan of internet radios and got amazed by the larger of choice with this system

There are free software out there to convert big HDD into fat32

Find that promo code :P and get another 100 off

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: All in one convenience, sound quality, full range speakers, connectivity, ability to be used with external hard drives, audiophile sound.

Cons: May lack power for large rooms, but definitely powerful enough for bedrooms and offices.

Other Thoughts: I consolidated from a HiFi bookshelf system that cost over $3500 for speakers, receiver and CD player, and I am not disappointed. The shelf space required for the head unit is minimal, and the speakers are truly full range. They are able to handle the lowest frequencies that most music will put out, which is rare for bookshelf speakers that actually produce audiophile grade sound. The soundstage and clarity are excellent. This unit has everything you need for a HiFi bookshelf system, and for the price it is hard to pass up. You can use this for Internet radio, iPod playability, CD's, records, digital media via USB, another analog input of your choice, and an alarm clock. Unless you MUST have the esoteric sound offered by systems at ten times the price of this unit, you will definitely be pleased with this unit's performance, functionality, and small shelf space.
