5 out of 5 eggsSolid Sub

Pros: This Sub has a good mix of Music & Movie bass reproduction. This sub can hit a low note like a pro at this price point.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am using this in a 5.2 setup. With my Celestion S-20 powered down the Pioneer sounds accurate & deep. With Both working the room shakes. If you need a good sub on a budget get this one.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: adds a nice, subtle fullness of sound to my speaker system. I don't crank my stereo up, but do have a couple of acceptable floor speakers and do watch a lot of dvd/blu-ray movies. I have the subwoofer set to provide the low-range in addition to my floor speakers--not instead of my floor speakers. I'm getting a very nice sound, and a good presence, or weight, of lower end sound. I purposefully did not set up the woofer to sound like a separate speaker: in fact, i when I run a Test tone, I have to get my ear pretty close to the woofer to hear it. Set up this way, the subwoofer has made a very noticeable, yet subtle, improvement in the purity and presence of the low tones. Mostly I watch movies, but this sub really makes me enjoy the radio a lot, really giving great music support.

Cons: Well, I always thought subwoofers are overpriced, so i waited until I got a newegg email promo-code special on top of a sale price to buy. So this two-hundred dollar item cost me a more fair seventy-five dollars. That said, I was impressed with the cabinetry, the connectors and dials on the back, the weight, and the sound.

This sub doesn't go that low in the mhz, be aware. For my uses it goes just fine, though, very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: Well, I goog-led to figure out how to best set up my Infinity towers and yamaha receiver in relation to this subwoofer. i highly recommend you do that if you're low tech with music equipment. My research told me how to get the subwoofer working, what range i should set it at, etc. Well worth the thirty minutes spent.

4 out of 5 eggsGood sounding sub

Pros: Good sounding, clean, deep bass, no humming sound, easy set up, very good sub for the price.

Cons: Needs more powerful amp, not for medium to big rooms. I have this in a medium size living room as a 2nd sub and as i mentioned it sounds really good, it's just not very loud. Maybe need to play around with placement in the room? My first sw8 sub was completely dead upon arrival, becareful with open box purchases from Newegg-cleary this thing was not tested to see if it worked.

Other Thoughts: If you want a sub to rattle the windows, this is not the one for you, but if you want clean bass played at reasonable levels this won't disappoint.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad For A Little Guy

Pros: Dont expect to blow out any windows. This will definately give you the lows you crave, but not the lows your neighbor will hate. It fills in quite nicely with the Pioneer tower speakers. My son wanted my\ore pounding bass so we add a 12 sub as well. Now the neighbors feel the boom. It fills his room nicely, but it wont fill a house. for $79 bucks it also wont break the bank.

Cons: we have a few boston acoustic pc sets with an 8 inch sub that really booms...this is more for filler

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than I thought it'd be

Pros: This sub woofer is great knowing what I paid for it
It definitely fits perfect with my mid size bedroom
It's a down firing sub woofer (The type I prefer)

Cons: Port Chuffing noise at high volumes

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a hard hitting sub woofer, this isn't the one for you. It has deep base but you miss out on a lot of audio experience when watching movies with this sub.

Also the back plate for the built in amp gets very hot at times.

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING!!!!!

Pros: First off, let me just say that I am an audiophile. I've designed and built alot of systems and speaker boxes, and listened to alot of systems as well........so I know what I'm talking about and what to listen for......and you definitely do not have to pay $300 or more for a good sub either.

To say that I am pleased with this subwoofer is a gross understatement.....I AM SIMPLY BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!!

To have only paid $69 for this kind of accuracy and sound of bass is phenominal.....really it is.

I've ran it through my tests that I normally do when I evaluate a speaker or system, and this system greatly exceeded my expections for only $69 bucks!!!!!

Most people don't understand what it takes to get good bass out of speakers. There are several key elements that you must have.....it's actually a science behind getting good sound out of speakers, especially bass.

Bottomline:

This system is extremely accurate when it's hitting bass notes, especially the low end notes.

If your looking for something that is going to be super loud and rattle your knick-knacks off your living room shelves (I have my cerwin vega sub to do that....LOL!), this isn't it.

This subwoofer is designed to give you good, clean bass, and it does it very, very, very well indeed.

Cons: NONE!!!!!..........GO OUT AND BUY IT!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: FINAL THOUGHTS:

I had a chance to get the Polk Audio 10 inch sub for the same price, but after looking at the specs and how the box was built, I decide the pioneer was a better fit and I'm glad I made the right decision in purchasing this litte wonder.

I cannot say enough about the quality of bass and the sound it produces for only $69. Whomever designed this system and put it together should get a subtantial raise!! LOL!!!! It's really that good.

....and no, I do not work for pioneer either and no one paid me to write this.

I think this is the best speaker purchase I've ever made considering that I only paid $69 for audiophile quality!!!!

Good Job Pioneer!!!!! (clapping hands)

5 out of 5 eggsSecond time sround

Pros: Can't be beat for the price. Period!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I just added a second sub to my HT,and what a difference. I am running Def Tech BP8B's up front, and Def Tech 350's in the back, with 2 of the Pioneer subs.I feel for the price, you can't get much better sound. Once again I highly recommend!

5 out of 5 eggsVery good little sub for the price

Pros: Cheap, can get pretty low for its size, nice discreet LED on front to show that it is on (some may prefer it on the rear, I like it though). Clean punchy bass, not too boomy.

Cons: Not as loud as some other comparable subs.

Other Thoughts: I was concerned this sub wouldn't be loud enough for my 14x12 family room which opens up into a nook/kitchen area, effectively doubling the area of the room). I first put it on the hardwood floors and it didn't sound very loud, I had to turn up the gain to 3/4 max to get it anywhere loud enough. I decided to try putting it on the brick fireplace in the corner instead, and wow, what a difference. My worries about not being able to fill the room were quelled. Granted it is still not super loud, but I don't blast my music and movies like I used to when I was younger and kid-less, so it works for me. They pair pretty well with my Energy Take Classic 5.0 set. For the price I think it's a very good buy. I used to own a Polk PSW10, and while that got louder and was boomier, it wasn't quite as accurate as this smaller sub. I have no regrets purchasing this sub for the budget price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat BOOM!

Pros: Pioneer quality to a tee. Great, crisp sound for my 400sq/ft living room. The 80-160hz range sounds great on movies and music alike. Auto ON/OFF is a great feature for forgetful people like my wife and I.

Cons: Minor Con only - Only has stereo RCA input. My receiver outputs a single sub-woofer signal. This is easily solved with a RCA y-connector

Other Thoughts: I don't suggest this for apartments or dorms, having lived in each myself I can say that you're neighbors will probably complain. The deep tones carry alot even in my well insulated house. Remember when buying stereo components that total power is a small talking point compared to quality and durability. A $300 150W sub can blow just as easily as a $50 50W if the quaility is low.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat purchase

Pros: It is powerful hits and loud sound, nice rumbling lows accompanied by a wide range of low sounds. It has volume, a low pass filter control, and a phase switch.
Great deal with promo code

Cons: It was a little larger than I expected but I could have paid better attention to the specifications.

Other Thoughts: I paired this with Bose Companion 2 Series I speakers, and I have to say they match up pretty perfectly. After setting the low pass filter they overlap just slightly and they mesh beautifully. I was thinking of going for a logitech 5.1 audio system but this beats anything they have by far! especially if you did a quality:price ratio!
