5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Sound

Pros: I almost feel badly for purchasing these speakers from New Egg for barely enough to cover shipping costs. The sound is incredible and well balanced and the sound stage more than adequate, especially considering the small price tag. I initially bought the SP-BS21-LR on sale (now my rear channels) and was so impressed I had to have the complete Pioneer/Andrew Jones designed system (Sub, Center, and the 51's for the front). Amazing sound for watching movies and for listening to music (the J. Geils song at the start of Hancock will blow you away, and I don't even like J. Geils).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I listen to cd's using only the two 51's in front and find something new that impresses me about these speakers every time.
I can't see (or hear) any way possible to be disappointed with the purchase of these speakers.

3 out of 5 eggsNeed to be tweaked to sound good.

Pros: Low price for the pair. I actually like the metal grille design.

Cons: 6 Ohm and not very sensitive. Don't sound good without some EQ tweaking. These stand very short.

Other Thoughts: For the price, these are acceptable. I'm not understanding those who claim these are the best speakers you can get under $4-500. That's just ridiculous.

I wouldn't recommend these with an Onkyo receiver for two reasons. These aren't sensitive speakers, plus they are 6 Ohm. This will make an already hot running Onkyo receiver run even hotter. You have to turn the volume up quite a bit higher to achieve the same volume level as most other decent speakers. Second reason to avoid these with an Onkyo receiver is the lack of manual speakers EQ. These speakers sound dull and lifeless unless you make some fairly substantial EQ adjustments. The bass is weak, but can be boosted with EQ adjustment. Same for the dull treble response. If you have a recent Denon or Yamaha receiver, you can get these to sound fairly decent, but certainly not great.

Do note that these are very short, probably the shortest florstanding speakers I've ever seen. This could be good or bad, depending on your situation. Just looks odd to have small towers, yet the matching center channel is rather large in comparison.

Overall, get these if you are on a super tight budget and don't own an Onkyo receiver. These aren't going to WOW you, but you can make the necessary adjustments to make them sound better. Again, if you don't own an Onkyo receiver or even low end Pioneer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat floorstanders! Even better price.

Pros: These speakers are amazing. The sound is clear from lows to highs. The lows were better than I expected. These speakers make a great pair by them selves, in a 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1. I highly recommend them! For an entry level set, you can't go wrong with these.

4 out of 5 eggsNeutral sound, needs a good amplifier

Pros: Nice curved case, highs are right

Cons: mids are little prominent, needs a snippy amplifier, sound is not that detailed at low level

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers for $100

Pros: Not the best speakers iv ever heard but by far the best $100 dollar pair of speakers iv ever heard. Good low end and mid range sound.

Cons: Not much high end sound. I have an old yamaha reciever that only pushes 70 watts per channel so this review goes without pushing these speakers to there full potential.

Other Thoughts: Arrived promptly from newegg (as expected). Like i said, i know im not pushing these speakers to their full potential. I plan on upgrading my reciever in the near future. I caught these on sale for 130 with a 30 dollar rebate. If you have the money, buy better speakers. If you live in the real world and have to do everything with a budget in mind, get these speakers.

3 out of 5 eggs2-way, not 3-way

Pros: price

Cons: front design

Other Thoughts: It has 3 woofers, not 3-ways.
It should have a mid-range.
I made the same mistake with Polk about 10 years ago.
Also, it is 6 ohm, not 8 ohm. So the power rating goes down around 100w.

5 out of 5 eggsThese speakers rock

Pros: I have four of these in a surround sound system powered by an Onkyo receiver. These speakers rock. The only problem is I now have to move from my seniors apartment and into a house. So I can get the full benefit of these Pioneers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing With Bass Turned Up

Pros: Absolutely Amazing Sound Quality (Caveat you have to Turn Up your Bass Settings via EQ Otherwise the Woofers Barely Move)
Great Looking (My Opinion)
Quality Construction For the Price

Cons: These Speakers with a Flat EQ are the worst sounding speakers of the bunch because not enough power / signal makes it to the 2 woofers.

However, once you adjust the bass up via EQ these are the best speakers of the bunch.

Other Thoughts: I own a pair of every Speaker in this Series BS21, BS41, C21, and SW8

Tested them all out on a Yamaha HTR 3064

BS21 - Awesome but must have at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)

BS41 - Better Than the 21's just sound fuller but still need at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)

C21 - You can pick up two of these (open box / sale) for less then the BS41's and use them as bookshelf's and they are everything that is awesome about the 41's but they play louder (I prefer them over the 41's. However still need at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)

SW8 - Great Subs for the money and are necessary to help fill out the sound of the above BS21, BS41, and a pair of C21's. However, it feels almost impossible to find just that perfect setting for the subs to blend (Usually can get it done for a particular song / genre). However, when you switch songs or genre's it all goes to garbage and needs to be adjusted again.

Now the FS51's (Everything that is so awesome about the above 41's and C21's but with secret bass. When you plug them in with a flat EQ they sound terrible, absolutely terrible worst sounding speakers, because there is no bass as they are three way X overed, and the bass needs more signal / power to move those 2 Bass Speakers.

However when you adjust your bass settings up via EQ, Jackpot!!! these are the speakers I have been looking for (I am using them on my desk as bookshelfs (I know that sounds crazy but the way my desk is set up it works. Its in basically a cubby hole against the wall with walls on both sides so it works.

Now I have turned off the subs I have all the bass I want out of the FS51's (I listen to everything (Punk, Rock, Metal, Rap, Bass Songs, 80's) And these speakers are IT (No Subs Needed in a 12' x 15' Room) The Subs actually make it sound worse because of the problem in having to adjust them to try to make the sound, sound connected to the speakers.

Thank you A. Jones, I cannot believe how amazing these speakers sound /quality construction at a buck and half.

Therefore, in my opinion If you have the room the BS51's between a buck and two bucks cannot be beat. They are absolutely amazing. Sound is amazing and there is enough bass to not need a subwoofer unless you are a bass head, but then the problem comes in that the sub gives you more bass which is awesome but the sound quality goes down in that you get a slight disconnected sound between the speakers and sub unless you keep messing with the settings.

Otherwise, any pair of the above BS21's BS41's or C21's with at least 1 SW8 is awesome but you have to keep adjusting the Bass Setting / Sub Setting to keep the sound from sounding slightly disconnected from the speakers when you change songs / ge

1 out of 5 eggsSAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Pros: - Great example of what not to do if you are a Shop Teacher in a high school and need a $150 teaching aid.

Cons: - Zero quality control
- Horrible finish
- Cheap looking, feeling and sounding

Other Thoughts: Right out of the box these things had chips in the veneers that look like they were glued on by a blind person who was paid extra to absolutely not care. I can see raw MDF revealed around the edges so it's a black box with sharp edges and brown cardboard looking lines. In addition to the chips and sharp edges there is glue/epoxy all over the sides of the speakers. Enormous glossy patches randomly scattered over otherwise dull ugly spray painted looking black veneer with chips in it. Fan-friggin-tastic!

I know these are in expensive speakers and I didn't expect them to be as good as my Polk Monitor 70's but they aren't even close. These speakers need to be loud to get any kind of halfway decent sound out of them. A low volumes you get only bass and lose the mids and get only very little highs. This had to be way louder than my other speakers to get any sound that sounded even somewhat acceptable and even then it wasn't particularly good.

In short... ugly, major quality issues and mediocre sound if played loud, terrible sound at lower volumes.

Had purchased an Altec Lansing bluetooth speaker with remote for $30 and it sounded better and was a fraction of the size.
