3 out of 5 eggsGood Value - Adequate Sound

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: These delivered accurate sound reproduction for a very reasonable price ($100 at the time of purchase) and paired nicely with my vintage tube receiver. Punchy bass, good midrange but sometimes scratchy or poppy highs. Unsure if this is the speaker or my own setup, though. However, If these get above $200/pair, I'd recommend looking at BIC or Polk (next-tier, worth the increase in price).

Cons: Occasionally scratchy/poppy highs, but unsure if this is the speaker or my nontraditional HTPC (Mac) setup. I've tried DACs and TOSlinks to to remedy the problem and have experienced some relief from the occasional peaky scratchiness.

Other Thoughts: Good value at $100/pair, but if they rise above $200/pair I'd look toward BIC or Polk for better value, as these simply aren't worth that much.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: Have had these Speakers since last Christmas time and very pleased with them. Have two of these as my Main and two for my Rear with two of the 21's for Surrounds and a Pioneer Center. For the price I got these for I couldn't be happier they sound really good with anything I've played on them from Blu-Ray to Pandora they have been great. Great high's and mid's and the Subwoofer picks up on the down low's. Great Speakers in my opinion at any price.

Cons: Don't have anything negative to say about these speakers.

Other Thoughts: Got these Speakers at a great price last Christmas time and now notice they are considerably more pricey, not saying they aren't worth this price just not sure why the big price increase.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Sound

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: Great sound and bass.
Love watching movies
Voices sound great as well.

Cons: When they arrived a couple of the mesh fronts for the speakers had come dislodged. i had snap them back. No other damage from that, but no cons for the function

Other Thoughts: Good deal for a movie or music setup. Everyday TV is great as well. They look nice and sleek.

5 out of 5 eggsLike the speakers

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: The speakers came in 3 days (I selected 4-7 day)
The construction is very nice. (Sturdy)
I like how the banana plugs have the whole through the middle to ensure secure connection.

Now on to the sound:
Lets start with the highs. The highs are there I did hear a little bit of static, but I am not sure if it the speakers or my computer making feedback?
The mids are great. When the music is quite or loud you can clearing here it.
The bass is awesome. It hits real hard. You can feel it through the floor as if you had a sub. (Okay not quite, but close.)

Overall I like the speakers. They are good deal for cheaper floor standing speakers. Picked them up at $150

My receiver: Ken-wood KR- 7040
Yes it is an older receiver but I like it because it doesn't have a sub port so it channels the bass through the woofers on the speakers. That might help a little with the amount of bass I feel?

Cons: None really.
The speakers might take a little adjusting in the EQ to get the right sound though.

Other Thoughts: These work great. I would recommend getting some 12-14 AWG speaker wire to bring these a live just a little bit more.

Specs for speakers:
6 ohms
130 MAX ( I feel that it is more than that by how loud they can get and by the amount of bass they put out.
87db
45 Hz-20 kHz

5 out of 5 eggsStylish, Great Sound, Great Value

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: Attractive design
Good tonal range
Great bass

Cons: Need a good amplifier

Other Thoughts: I'm getting more and more into home audio, and these speakers (along with the rest of the set) make for great sounding audio. I play a lot of video games and watch a lot of movies, and these speakers do everything very well for how little they cost. It would take some time and tweaking on my old B&Ws to work out some thorough differences in sound quality. These speakers have great power handling and great tone shaping capabilities if you've got the right amp. I've got my system wired through a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH and I couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Tower Speakers

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: These are great speakers for the average person who can't afford Klipsh or some other high end over priced speaker. I have 4 of these connected to a Pioneer 7.1 surround sound reciever with a S-DW1-K subwoofer and a S-DC1-K center and they sound great. I have a pair as the Front speakers, on opposite sides of the LED and another pair as surround back, in the middle of the room, along with another pair of Pioneer speakers, (can't remember model) as surround high hanging in the corners of the back of the room. (no exposed wires) When watching the right movie, these speakers come alive very nicely. For instance when a play flies by from the back, behind the camera, in a movie the sound of the plane starts in the back high speakers and passes through the middle in to the front and it sounds as if the plane literally flew by. Gun shot richochets sound great bouncing around For the price, you can't beat these speakers. I was lucky enough to catch them at a lower price from NE.

Cons: Could have a bigger bottom plate to stand on and be a little taller. Non-removable dust covers.

Other Thoughts: They don't take up a lot of space and are priced right for anyone with a moderate income.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers for a great price.

This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair

Pros: Extremely affordable
Very stylish
Clear sound
Good bass

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I have the SP set hooked into a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH and I can't think of a better match. These speakers aren't incredibly powerful, and don't quite stand up to B&W speakers of the same dimension in terms of overall sound quality, but they're more than 80% of the way there in my book. For less than $200 for the pair, I can't think of any home stereo floorstanding speakers that I would rather have.
