5 out of 5 eggsDiscontinued?!?!? KAAAAAAHHHHNNN!

Pros: How sad. Discontinued. These speakers on sale lately have been the deal of the decade so far. Outstanding full sound. Great when paired up with a cheap Chinese amp (Lepai2020+) or an old receiver to create an Ipad/Android/Iphone etc. music listening station.

Cons: They are big considering the size of the woofer is only 4" but they will still fit on a bookshelf.

Other Thoughts: I got these on Black Friday for $40 shipped. I was so impressed I ended up buying 5 more pairs for friends for the holidays to help them create makeshift music stations. Great deal. A+ job by Pioneer.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Expected!

Pros: Non-Distorted Highs, Great Mids, and more bass than I was expecting! I want a pair for myself, but I live in an apartment and don't want to irritate my neighbors. They would make excellent Rear or Front speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. The staging is near perfect at about 6-10 feet away at an elevation of 3-5 feet. These pump out serious air, I'd recommend leaving room behind these if near a wall to allow full resonance.

Cons: I suppose there could be a little more bass, but that's my personal taste in music (Drum and Bass). His music hits all over the place so not a con for most. I still don't have a pair myself? They're too inexpensive and can be easily overlooked. Won't overthrow speakers that cost 5x as much, maybe a lower goal, like 2-3x as much is more achievable.

Other Thoughts: Hooked these up to my father in law's aging system (old speakers caught on fire due to old age and dust). A 50wX2 Ch. receiver pushes these. They sound perfect and he loves music and is an avid listener and found zero faults. Be careful, it's easy to overload these speakers at only 6 Ohms. His receiver is around 8 yrs old and still puts out plenty of power, and is hitting near the 80w max of these speakers and they don't complain a bit.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little set of bookshelf speakers

Pros: Great speakers for the front of a smaller room or the rear of a 5.1 or 7.1 set up. Very solid build and great look. Came free with receiver purchase!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had these plugged into my 5.1 receiver in a stereo set up and since then I added a center channel speaker which now drowns out the little bookshelf speakers. I don't consider this a con, however, because I will eventually replace them with floorstanding speakers and move them to the back!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent speaker for price.

Pros: Sound quality and price

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I purchased one pair of these speakers and liked them so much I purchased a second pair for a different room. One pair is used for music with my old two channel Harman Kardon hk550. The other pair is used for music and TV with my Pioneer Elite VSX 51. Can't beat the quality of sounds for that price.

5 out of 5 eggsGood even without a sub

Pros: * These speakers sound excellent, even without the help of a subwoofer. A subwoofer is needed for truly deep bass, but as many others mentioned, that is true of any bookshelf speaker.
* Plenty of power-handling to get uncomfortably loud in my admittedly-small living room.
* Good midrange performance too, detail did not seem lost in my use cases.

Cons: * Difficult to wall-mount or ceiling-mount. These really are bookshelf-only speakers. I had to create harnesses out of nylon straps to hang them from my ceiling. Otherwise I would have had to drill into the cabinets to wall-mount them, probably ruining their sound.
* LARGE. Definitely far too large for a good wife-approval-factor.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: Sturdy Cabinets
Sturdy Metal Grilles
Great sound
Low price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: These speakers are fantastic at any price. Even at $200/pair they would receive my recommendation. The bass response is great for a 4" woofer. The tweeter is smooth and detailed. The off-axis response for this combo is well above average. Seriously, in a blind test these would compare with $400-500 bookshelf speakers. Yes, you will need a sub for the deepest bass. This is true of any bookshelf speaker.

The cabinets are attractive and sturdy, with a functional and pleasing curved design. They also include quality 5-way binding posts, not cheap spring clips.

Overall, a worthwhile purchase. Nothing else compares in this price range.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Within Class

Pros: cnet.com/reviews explains all & I agree.

Cons: cnet.com/reviews explains all & I agree.

Other Thoughts: I acquired all the speakers to complete the Pioneer Andrew Jones (2011) SP-PK21BS 5.1 PACKAGE. It ended with this man a very satisfied buyer. It is paired with a Marantz nr1402 ( 50watts RMS per 5 channels ) AV Receiver.

My experience with the AVR & 5.1 speaker set-up proved to be marriage from heaven.

Highly recommended with reputable AVR.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought as an upgrade for home theatre system. Hooked into an older Onkyo TX-SR304B receiver along with a Polk sub-woofer, center speaker and satellites in a 5.1 setup. They can handle all the volume I can in a clear, undistorted way.
