5 out of 5 eggsGreat sounding and looking

Pros: These speakers sound way better (obviously) than the cheap wally world bought stereo-set bookshelf speakers that I was using before. They are incredibly crisp and the bottom speaker provide wonderful lows. I have this running with a Sony subwoofer, and as unfortunate as it is that I live in an apartment, I cannot use this setup as loud as I want to, but sounds excellent at lower volumes.

Price. Bought for $79.99 on a shell shocker. This is a no-brainer. I would probably even spend up to $100 on these based on the insane reviews for this.

Read any review on here or on the site that names itself after a river in South America, and unending praise will be evident. If you are looking for higher quality speakers and don't want to give up your first born for studio quality, these are what you want.

The flawless finish of the way mine were pulled out of the box makes my desk look amazing.

Cons: None. I do not have a professional ear when it comes to sound, but I do hear enough to know these speakers do not disappoint.

Other Thoughts: My PC runs an optical cord out to a receiver which uses 4 feet of 18 gauge wire to connect to these speakers.

Listen to some Dream Theater on these and you will hear more than you have before.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for smaller room

Pros: Clear mids and surprising bass, seem to be well made, easy to listen to (not fatiguing). Good bookshelves for smaller room, may not need sub if you can place them optimally. Very nice speakers for the price.

Cons: Highs (bells, cymbals) are clear, but don't 'shine'. Placement may be an issue for best bass response (see owners manual). Owners manual has conflicting info on impedance (says 8 ohms one place and 6 ohms another). Also, can't set on their side unless you use foam pads (mopads).

Other Thoughts: I am used to 90's JBLs with titanium tweeters. Yes JBLs can be fatiguing after a while because the highs are so shrill, and sibilance (S's sounding scratchy) can be an issue. Played through Marantz CD 5004 player and Yamaha RX-V867 (95 WPC) in a 16 x 30' room with a Polk PSW505 sub taking everything below 100Hz.. These Pioneers take quite a bit more power (85dB versus 91 dB sensitivity), and don't fill the room like 3-way floor standers. I set the Yamaha to 6 ohm minimum just in case. I wasn't expecting to replace my JBLs but I wanted to see what the little Pioneers would do!

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the Price, Awesome for Sonos

Pros: Fantastic frequency response out of the box. It's like they were made for my ears. Sound even better with a sub but I think they are still decent by themselves. I haven't tried them with movies, but sound wonderful for a wide range of music.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I added Sonos to my house but I'm not a fan of their speakers. So I bought my own speakers and connected them to my Sonos. Half of my 6 setups use these Pioneer speakers and I am incredibly happy with them. I would not hesitate to buy again if I needed to add more later.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat quality speakers

Pros: good range of frequencies, decent price,

Cons: none about the product itself

Other Thoughts: when i ordered, it mentioned there was a mail in rebate offer. However, specifics on how were never mentioned either through new egg or the packaging.

5 out of 5 eggsOtherworldly

Pros: I am a professional musician and recording engineer.
I bought the Pioneer BS41's on the advice of an article in Stereophile. I had intended to use them during studio mixdowns just to get a different perspective from my pro JBL & ADAM studio monitors -hi-end expensive stuff.

These speakers are almost too good to use when making critical mixing assessments. They make my worst. most careless mix sound good and the stuff I really labor over comes out other-worldly awesome. $80/pr. Unbelievable. Get them, Pair them with a decent sub in a larger room and lookout. Makes music the good kind of scary again,

Cons: There is no competition at this or several multiples of this price range.
Thats a con for the overall market.

5 out of 5 eggsa lot of speaker for the money

Pros: very impressive soundstage right out of the box; not even broke in but fired them up last night and WOw! loud and clear with plenty of low end as others have noted.

Sound like Towers not bookshelfs. For 80 bucks these are an absolute steal.. moved my DM601 B&W's in another room and have used these with the matching center for the family room.

Cons: no biwire/biamp option

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Bookshelf Loudspeaker!!

Pros: As a loyal subscriber to Stereophile Magazine I have read more than a few articles about this Andrew Jones designed loudspeaker line.; Having already owned their 'little brother' the SP-BS21 and the matching center I saw these on super sale for 80 bucks with free shipping had to pull the trigger. I agree with another reviewer who replaced their B&W bookshelfs with these; I have now done the same. I have my DM601's setup in another room which are incredible speakers for jazz and classical but even just listening to these on my Marantz SR5003 AVR the soundstage these deliver is superb. They sound like towers!! Buy them!!

Cons: not bi-ampable

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible sound & value

Pros: Buy them. Without a doubt. If you are reading this, you should already know about these little gems. I have a to pretend I spent way more on them than I really did. Sold my B&W's and haven't looked back. Power'em and off you go! The better the source, the better they sound. Not harsh or forward at all. Pioneer and Andrew Jones have the best value around by far!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: The matching center and sub are a very nice also. If you have a larger room or need a little more bass, HSU or SVS subs are also great choices

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Do not own yet, but I do own the SP-BS21-LR, and I can tell you that my experience is that they need some time to "break in". My 21's sounded very boring, almost like a AM radio at first, then I played them for 80 hours or so, then gave them another critical listen, and they sounded very nice!

Cons: Have to break in.

5 out of 5 eggsI see why these have 5 eggs

Pros: I own the SP-BS21-LR series also, the little brothers. Figured I would get these for my garage with the $70 sale and all. They are pulling duty in another room with a vintage Pioneer receiver at the moment. These have the incredible clarity and separation plus reach lower frequencies thanks to the larger woofer and the rear port design. Movie goers might want the sub to fill in the bottom end a bit but these get almost all of the low end done. They would make a killer 2.1 setup. The 21's could use more bottom end, but for me, the 41's just get it done. I'm rethinking about putting these in the garage, they are that nice. Maybe I'll just get another set!

Cons: Pretty good sized for book shelves. If you want to wall mount, might have to get creative.

Other Thoughts: More than happy with these.
