1 out of 5 eggsBroke after a year and a half

Pros: It worked some of the time but it was cheap so you get what you pay for I guess.

Cons: Overheated when action scenes began nearly evertime.

Other Thoughts: No

1 out of 5 eggsOversized Paperweight

Pros: -Nice design
-That's it..

Cons: -The menu only comes up through the RCA
-HDMI never worked
-Dolby is weird - only sends chimes to the rear channel
-Send lower frequencies only to the sub, therefor if you have tower speakers hooked up in the front channels all you get is tweeter and med
-Died after six months of occasional use (Once a week for a movie night or so)

Other Thoughts: The customer support of Pioneer is weird - first of all navigation on their page is absolute mystery to me, no links to warranty service, returns or repairs, all there is are FAQs and that's about it. I had to send them an email, as I felt like that is the only way to get in touch with somebody, a week later still no answer. I am very disappointed as I have multiple Pioneer speakers and all of them are top notch so I expected the receiver to be a good pair up for them, I was wrong, seems like I blew money out the window.

1 out of 5 eggsburned out in 13 months

Pros: I never really used enough to review much beyond it sounded good with the CD and MP3 and Blue ray.

Cons: was a pain to get it to set up to stop scrolling all the features I didn't care about across the display. now barely over a year so the warranty is out the audio has started cutting out regardless of the input type or channel. ie hdmi, blue ray, rca game, or rca CD player.. I used to love PIONEER but not anymore. I basically rented a unit for 13months.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks with difficulty

Pros: It gets the job done and is cheap

Cons: The interface is very difficult to use. VGA cable if you want on screen menu system?! Settings are hard to find and change, such as audio source. Had a few hiccups with it not detecting a video that was fixed after changing source or restarting the system.

Other Thoughts: Once you get it configured it works well, just don't change anything!

1 out of 5 eggsDefective Discontinuted Junk

Pros: While working it was great but...

Cons: just after 2 years the audio cuts out on all my HDMI devices. i checked the troubleshooting, no help, after a quick search of the internet i found people have the same issue. when i went to the pioneer website this model is no longer listed on their site.

2 out of 5 eggsDied twice in a year and a half

Pros: Very cheap, easily customizable settings. Served me for a year and a half.

Cons: on-screen menu can only be viewed via analog signals. Meaning you need an analog output device to adjust some of the settings on the unit. This unit supports HDMI, but can't view their settings through it. What generation are we living in again?

Other Thoughts: Device died on me two times. First time after 10 months; fixed under warranty. I thought it was just a lemon, but 8 months later, it had the SAME EXACT issue and won't even turn on. No, the fuse/breaker in the device didn't trip. The whole circuit board was just dead. Honestly, you get what you pay for. Now, I have to deal with a pile of scrap metal.

3 out of 5 eggsFinally Works

Pros: Cheapest 5.1 I could find with HDMI pass-through.

Cons: The menu doesn't work through HDMI? Bizarre

I had to restart it about 10 times before it would send an HDMI signal to the TV. At first the image was washed out and flickering. Hopefully it doesn't return.

No way to use an Android phone to play music? This is even more ridiculous. I can't use a 2.5 mm jack to play music?

Other Thoughts: Will probably die 3 days outside of warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid A/V Reciever

Pros: -Unit has a pretty good amount of features for the price.
-Good price
-Digital display looks nice and can be dimmed
-Unit stays cool and doesn't seem to need to warm up
-lots of ports and a/v out for the price
-MCACC feature is cool
-Brushed finish looks nice
-Good tier sound quality

Cons: - TOSLINK only seems to work on the SAT/CBL input
-Headphone jack broke (after little use)
-HDMI gets fuzzy and is unbearable at times (defect in unit, seems common though)
-USB input ONLY works with Apple devices, no support for Android(will obviously still supply 5 volts out to charge with)

Other Thoughts: not a bad unit for the price, would likely not buy another one with the same budget though.

3 out of 5 eggsMy unit was open box, but I paid for new!

Pros: Working OK so far, box had been opened, some documentation and batteries for remote were missing. Disappointing since this wasn't shown as an open box unit when ordered.

Cons: None yet.
