Pioneer VSX-1022-K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver

Pros: Not many to state here. If it worked at all, it was okay.

Cons: Where do I start? Unit was slow on giving the signal to the TV, was often out of sync on audio and video, and stopped working altogether within 30 days of receiving it.

Then, we tried to contact newegg for a return, and were told that since we didn't have the retail box anymore, they would not accept our return.

Tried to contact Pioneer, and they referred us to an authorized repair shop In another city a few hours away as the "closest" one available. So not only did I have to shell out $300 for the unit initially, I have now paid $100 more to ship it to and back from the repair place.

Very unhappy with this entire purchase and situation. This is the first time I've been upset with newegg, and now I am very disappointed in them. Usually their return service is great. My purchase was only a few weeks old and they still wouldn't return it.

I won't be going with pioneer again either. Bad service all around as far as I'm concerned.

Pros: Great price. Excellent features. Nice looking. Versatile. Good tech support from Pioneer.

Other Thoughts: Really like the receiver now that it is set up. Needed tech support to get Pandora to work. The sound is excellent and it works seamlessly with the DVD and TV.

Pros: Lots of inputs, HDMI switching, non-HDMI to HDMI conversion.

Cons: Bad IPOD interface and remote control app. Bad Pandora app

Other Thoughts: I got this unit to replace one over 10 years old and beginning to die. This one was nice in that it has HDMI in and out as well as taking all other sources and putting them to HDMI out. The unit seems to function well and my only real complaint is the power on time, a little lag there. The in unit apps however are a complete joke. I find the IPOD interface and the pandora app to be a complete waste of effort. I don’t know what 1st year student they got to do them but you couldn’t build a more ridiculous, slow, pointless hard to use interface. If you plan on using an IPOD source with this, just use the audio in port and skip the USB connection. Don’t buy this if those features are big on your must have list, fortunately for me they are not.

Pros: Firmware updates. Great video and sound. Up scaling works good too.

Cons: Very Big! A lot bigger than I anticipated. I couldn't get my Google TV (via Sony box) to work, kept flickering. Once I removed the box everything was good. No way to hide inputs that will never be used. Also when I turn off my TV the receiver shuts off then turns back on.

Other Thoughts: I streamed a few internet podcasts (MP3s) from my PC and it worked ok.

Pros: Sound is solid. Connectivity options are more than adequate. Easy setup with auto MCAAC. Works well in a medium sized room with 5.1 setup. Works well with Harmony remote.

Cons: After working intermittently (very frustrating) for a couple months, AirPlay and all other network functionality ceased entirely last week. Just sits there now saying "PLS WAIT"; appears to be a bad network card. Also does not connect to iPhone via the front USB port. One more nitpick, the OSD menus are depressingly retro in this day and age.

Other Thoughts: Main frustration here is the failure in such a short period of time, just outside the return window. Pioneer customer service is responsive, but wants me to ship unit for repair on my own dime, or drive to nearest authorized center 50 miles away - only open weekdays 9 - 6. I like the basic performance of the unit, but the added features that sold me on it are now making it a liability. I've read MANY similar complaints about the network connectivity - and no, I'm not just talking about the whole Pandora firmware update. If Pioneer can't offer a quality product with these features at this price, they shouldn't offer it at all.

Pros: price and WHEN it works it sounded good

Cons: The first receiver failed within the first 30 days and newegg was great with the return. I thought it was possibly a lemon....well the replacement failed same problem the rear channels failed. Now I have to work through Pioneer and will be without a receiver. I usually purchase Yamaha and after this experience I will not purchase another Pioneer product

Pros: Sound is good. Video is good. Lots of connections available this model. Man reason I purchased was for Airplay and dlna.

Cons: This device is not full dlna. You can stream audio files only which was a huge disappointment. Setting up Pandora is a joke if you don't get the account you want correct the first time. Tried changing it to my wife's pandora account and it won't let me delete my username and constantly says invalid username/password because my wife's username isn't as long as mine and it keeps the extra empty spaces. Takes forever to enter the information using their interface.

Airplay cuts in and out once in a while and is not always available after the first few times I used it. This requires me to change the input to ipod/iphone and then try and connect to airplay again and again until it is found on my network. Again Airplay on this device is only audio!

Other Thoughts: Huge disappointment if you are going for dlna or airplay. You are better off purchasing an appleTV or other media box and only getting this for connecting up your entertainment equipment to your surround sound.

Pros: I have an older model that I bought several years ago. Love the Internet radio feature. I envy AirPlay feature of this later model.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I would not be disappointed if my current receiver broke so I could buy this upgrade.

Pros: Price, new egg RMA process.

Pros: This is a decent receiver with nice options. I have had issues with the sound not working over HDMI. I've had to turn off and unplug the unit to get it reset and working again. It's nice there is an iPod/iPad app but sadly it has few options for controlling the unit.

Cons: Sound over HDMI will sometimes not work requiring the unit be unplugged to restore the sound. Very annoying. It seems to me that they have some sort of an issue with the unit and sound over HDMI. Hopefully they can release a firmware update that will resolve the issue permanently.
