Pros: Affordable, great sound, everything you need in the box. Really nice having video pass through which isn't found on some cheaper receivers. It is very nice to sit down with just the receiver remote and flip between Cable, Xbox360 and Wii instead of having to sync up the TV's video with the receivers audio. The sound itself is great, way more than you'd expect at this price level

Pros: It sounds AMAZING. Very easy to set up, all color coded for the less tec savy individual.
I cannot stress this enough... I'm a huge technology guy.. computers, sounds, etc... and it sounds great. I own a logitech z5500 for my computer set up, great set up... but this onkyo sounds BETTER for movies.

Deep bass down firing vibrates the floor, it sounds better then movie theater.

Cons: - None... optional IPOD dock that i thought came with it, too bad.

Other Thoughts: HIGHLY recommend. very cheap for its performance.

Pros: Ok. Reading the reviews, I wasn't sure if this surround was going to have great bass or not. Boy does it though. I set the dB settings for the sub to 10 (goes much higher though) and the bass in my room is already shaking things. The whole system sounds amazing to. Great, clear audio. And the piano black finish is nice on the speakers. It looks a lot better in person than in the pictures. Oh and the subwoofer is hugeeeee.

Cons: I couldn't find my wire stripper....so I was using scissors for a little to cut speaker wire. Well the actual real con would be the speaker wire that comes with it. Its garbage. I bought some other speaker wire.

Other Thoughts: This is great for the price. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice 5.1 setup, or people who are just starting in home theater.

Pros: I had been browsing Newegg to see what kind of audio systems they had available. I, originally planned on buying my components separately thinking I could get better stuff that way.

I came across this system and read the rave reviews. Since it was fairly cheap I decided to go for it. I have not been disappointed.

There are a ton of inputs on the receiver. Onkyo is a good brand. The speaker are all heavy and feel well built. The gloss finish on the speakers is a nice touch. The cloth over the fronts is nice as well.

The pictures here don't do the system justice as they look and feel much better in person then they do in the pictures.

The sound is great as well. I read some complaints about the high gauge speaker wire that come included but I have had no problems there. If you do find it to be a problem though, you can replace it with your own lower gauge wire easily.

I was pleased that all of the included wire was sufficiently long to reach the rear channels.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: There is no HDMI passthrough. I, however, decided I'd rather let my Receiver deal with audio and my TV deal with Video since that is their respective purposes.

Pros: This unit is awesome. It delivers way more than I expected. I actually had to turn down the subwoofer settings--and I am a 100% bass head, so that was awesome.

Cons: absolutely none

Other Thoughts: If you have a low budget, don't waste money on other systems. I have a high $$ system too, and this one will hold its own against it.

Pros: nice powerful system for people on a tight budget, great surround sound and large speakers for amazing sound, got it connected through optical cable directly to my 40 inch lcd, alot of inputs to connect all your devices, the speaker wire included is long enough for a huge room.

Cons: a little on the heavy side but its expected in a system like this? no hdmi but doesnt bother me.

Other Thoughts: i just have the optical cable connected from the system to my lcd, i dont use the other inputs on the receiver i just got it for the features and 700 watts of power!!

Pros: Great sound quality, a huge selection of ways to hook your items up to the system, a must buy for the price.

Cons: I'm just nitpicking at this point, but the AM antenna that comes with it could definitely stand to have a longer feed line.

Pros: I brought this system and I absolutely love it. It has a ton of connections, everything but hdmi. I knew that going in as I didn't need them. The sound is crystal clear and the speakers are huge. The sub woofer has a really nice piano black finish. I needed the 2 optical digital audio connections this unit had. I wish it had one more coaxial connection on it, but that's ok. My dad has a onkyo system like this from 2 years ago and everything still works great. Highly recommend this system for a great starter home theater system.

Other Thoughts: Price was awesome for this wonderful starter system. I can't really play it as loud as I would like cause of neighbors below me, so I really can't comment on overall power. It works wonderfully for me though. Newegg.com rocks, shipping was extremely fast got here in 2 days.

Pros: Sounds just crystal clear, no amp hiss at high volumes even. Huge impressive system, not a discrete way to go, but I kinda like the big box bling. It's cheap for DTS 5.1 with this much power. Price is perfect. Well written manual and install guide.

Cons: Lacking any HDMI in/out or through. Slightly uncomfortable remote. Two optical ins and one coax digital audio ports, should be two coax and one optical in my thinking. Fairly cheap speaker wire, but using the stock ones I get great sound. User interface of the front panel is a bit confusing.

Pros: Great system for an out of the box surround sound, easy setup as long as you can understand a diagram.

Cons: none, you get what you pay for
