5 out of 5 eggsGreat quality

Pros: Glad that I did not wait till Jan '13 expecting it to get cheaper. I've other costly floor standing pair with 5.1 making them a 7.1. That system was paired with a TX NR5010 before I purchased this set for almost 1-sixth of the price ($179). I have to say, if I knew before I would have never spent that kind of money on individual speakers. Excellent sound quality once positioned properly. Works great with my Blu-Ray, Xbox, Wii even PC. Simply mind blowing!

Cons: None I could think of

5 out of 5 eggs Awesome for the price

Pros: Absolutely amazing speakers for such a low price.
I really couldn't be any happier for how much this set cost.

Cons: - The only mounting option built in is to hang them from screws on the wall. I ended up getting some universal Omnimount hanging mounts that had brackets that attached to the back with screws. The fairly large surround speakers don't look great hanging down from the ceiling, but everything sounds so good my wife got over the appearance.
- The surround speaker faces can't be removed.

Other Thoughts: I was originally going to only give 4 stars, but that would be unfair due to how well these perform at this price level. I ended up getting a new Onkyo TX-NR616'7.1 receiver to take full advantage of them. Now my family is going back through a lot of old movies because of how much more fun they are to watch with such a good sound system.
I would recommend getting stands for the front left & right speakers.

5 out of 5 eggs'Big' Bang for your Buck

Pros: - Each speaker has at least 1 woofer and 1 tweeter
- Incredible sound once set up and tuned
- If bass on receiver and on sub are set up appropriately, will pack a nice floor rumbling
- Great way to expand your sound from a started all-in-one-kit
- Produces sounds rarely heard on out-of-the-box setups (Optimus Primes teeth "chatter" while speaking in Transformers)
- Sounds great not only on movies, but games as well! (PS3, Wii, X-Box)

Cons: -HUGE SPEAKERS! Be ready for the size of these things. The front 3 alone take up most of my home theatre center. They are big, but worth it. Even the side and rear speakers have some size to it.
- The package is at least 70 lbs, be warned! Take caution when moving this thing.
- Standby mode on sub can be a bit finicky, but only noticed during gaming with low bass (Skyrim, for example). It would kick in at times, but wasn't constantly active. More tweaking should keep it on. Also, I've got two subs set up currently (one active, the Onkyo one passive) so it evens out.
- Wire is cheap, but works until you get better for hookup.
- Just on my setup, but if the speakers are "wobbly" on your table or surface, you will get vibrational "slop". I took some of the anti-slip rubber matting for cabinets and place it underneath as a mini vibrational isolator. Works good thus far.

Other Thoughts: Incredible for the cost. Bought these on sale and it is completely worth the money. I'm paired up with a Sony 7.1 HDMI receiver and have dualed the subs (the Onkyo with a 10" Sony) and the two of them rattle my house! I don't doubt that the Onkyo would by itself. I mounted these on the wall and they have surprisingly not rattled while mounted. DO NOT forget to do "auto calibration" if your receiver has the option; using auto-cal will definitely help hone these in. My living room is small-mid sized and it produces a nice, clear sound all around. Definitely noticed an improvement from the single-woofer/speaker out of the box 7.1 setup that I had. Huge Improvement, definitely noticeable!!

5 out of 5 eggsI feel sorry for the UPS guy

Pros: They are pretty and they work. They sound good to me - but I am pretty deaf. I have an Onkyo receiver so the match up really well. The subwoofer/receiver connections match. The speakers and wires are all color coded and the speakers are well labeled which is helpful because 4 of them are the same.

Cons: They are big and heavy. The box says they are over 70 lbs and it should take two people to lift it, The UPS driver did it all by himself. I got it in the door and unpacked it right there. The wire is a little light in the gauge. I will probably change it out.

Other Thoughts: Great ROI. They are heavy - so there is some quality there. They don't rattle but the sound does resonate appropriately. My wife's office is downstairs under mine and she says it makes the floor shake - SCORE!

5 out of 5 eggsNice, but Big

Pros: I'm no audiophile, but these speakers have a nice sound to them. They've been running for almost a year now with no issues.

Cons: They are big. The front speakers looked horrible on my TV cabinet (they are way too big), so I ended up using the side speakers for the front channel (I was only planning on doing 5.1 anyways). That makes the size less of an issue.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had a better place to put the FL FR speakers so I could use the bigger speakers.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap at $139 when I bought them. 7.1 channel set. Good quality sound. Comes with all the cables you need (but read below).

Cons: Sub lacks some punch. Speakers are a bit on the large size.

Other Thoughts: I'd been out of the home theater game for some years and decided to jump back in. I was going to go with a Polk set up via the usual sales here on the egg, but went with this Onkyo set instead. For starters the price was hard to beat, and the reviews everywhere were real good. I paired these with an Onkyo RC360 AVR. The sound these speaker pump out is pretty good. For the money, they sound nice. Good crisp sound. The sub does lack some punch imo. It doesn't provide house rattling bass which I like. Of course, it is a $139 set. I'm not at all disappointed in my purchase. For a starter set they're very good. I will be upgrading, starting with the sub.

The set comes with all the cables you need. That's a pro, but every forum I checked out recommends buying higher quality gauge cabling. Look online and buy a 200' roll. You'll need it.
If you're looking for a simple, good quality, decent sounding set of speakers that won't quite rattle the house, these are great.

4 out of 5 eggsInexpensive HT speakers

Pros: Great starter set if you already own or plan to purchase a good set of front towers. Acceptable for small HT rooms.

Cons: Included subwoofer is a bonus but sounds muddy at high volumes.

Other Thoughts: I bought this set on sale for $149 so I can't complain. Sound and quality is very good for the price paid and makes a great starter 7.1 HT system.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Looking and Priced Perfectly!

Pros: These look and sound great! Color coded wiring even a fool can hook up! I got this for $149 but, I would have gladly paid full price for the quality! Compared to all other brands, a 7.1 Ch is very expensive.

Cons: None!
