Great home theater doesn't have to break the bank. Onkyo's TX-SR507 proves the point. This 5.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding for audio that sounds more like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ dynamically adjusts the EQ settings as the volume is changed so dialogue will always be clear.
The receiver holds a new universal port makes it easy to incorporate an optional Onkyo Dock for the iPod or Onkyo HD Radio tuner into your system. The receiver has four high-impact Game Modes and it’s able to send different audio to two rooms simultaneously. Enjoy huge amount of entertainment potential at your fingertips with the TX-SR507.
Onkyo's CinemaFILTER technology adjusts the tonal balance of the soundtrack to take room size into account. This way the soundtrack will sound like it is supposed to be and not like it’s been forced into a room. Thanks to the Wide Range Amplifier Technology, you get a true to life sound free of amplifier noise.

Pros: I like the front mp3 player jack. Setup was easy with the included microphone. You will need a camera tripod or something similar to mount the microphone on.
Cons: No cons.
Other Thoughts: Upgraded from a Sony STR-DG520 to get Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, Dolby Digital Plus, etc. When I got it hooked up to my Sony BD player, it wouldn't show the new modes when playing a blueray disk. After poring over the manual and the FAQs on the website, I found a suggestion that the player might need an upgrade. Sure enough, it did, and the receiver is performing flawlessly now. This is my first Onkyo purchase and I'm very pleased so far.

Amazing quality for price

Pros: This player accepts all current blu-ray decoders (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus) as well as the older decoders (Dolby Digital, DTS, Pro Logic II, etc.)
Has four HDMI 1.3 inputs that accept HDMI bitstream decoding for best quality, but also includes composite and component connectors (not S-video for some reason). The sound quality is amazing, with about 80W per channel depending on your speakers.
It also has a lot of digital sound processing options, as well as the ability to adjust common audio preferences.
Cons: The manual is hard to follow in some spots, and could be much more detailing. For an example, some settings are set to "Auto," but the manual fails to specify what "Auto" exactly means.
Other Thoughts: Make sure to couple good speakers with this player. It's a waste to have a high quality receiver with low-end budget speakers. I paired this with Klipsch speakers and it sounds great.
Also, make sure to measure your cabinet space before purchasing. This receiver is huge, but worth it.

Just my opinion - but IMO it is great!

Pros: * 90percent of the functionality for 20percent of the price of the expensive stuff.
* Accepts old tech inputs (composite, component..) and upconverts the sound and video quality.
* Replaces the pile of wires my old receiver used with just a few HDMI cables
* CEC (intelligent communication between components: power, volume etc).
* Listening Modes - These are easy and great: each mode provides a big difference in sound quality. It's not always the mode I expect that sounds the best, but one mode always does.
Cons: * No network connectivity - no native streaming or network abilities. I have attached a computer (DVI-to-HDMI with red-white audio plugs). Nice picture.
* Audissey 2EQ speaker setup procedure - really unimpressive. I think all it does it to detect the speakers attached and choose their volume relative to the other speakers. It does not do a good job of balancing the tones. Do this manually (Audio button)
* The TX-SR507 is revealing the weakness of my old equipment. I'm forced to buy all new speakers (but I'm loving the improved sound).
Other Thoughts: It's so hard to make audio purchases blindly - people have such different standards for rating. I'm convinced that a tin can and a string would get 5 stars from at least one person - if it were nicely painted.
I don't figure I've got better hearing than other people, but I've always been dissatisfied with some of the cheap equipment I bought despite seeing some rave reviews for it. I always bought equipment that was a "good deal" (but had good reviews) - I paid less than $250 for my whole setup and it was over 10 years old. I could never figure out why I couldn't eliminate the "muddy" sound. Bass sounded like it was from the next room, treble was either hidden or hissing in my face.
Earlier this year I got some Infinity P362 floor speakers and they popped the wax out of my ears. I couldn't believe the sonic difference 200 bucks could make! Now I paid almost double that for this receiver, but it's so worth the investment!

Pros: Easy setup, great domestic customer support with a live American operator. Clean sound, 4 HDMI connections, remote integrates all my TV related devices, has a plethora of signal processing options supported, and a zone 2 to support listening in another room. The unit has a quality feel of materials and is quite heavy. Unbelievable price for the standard features and functionality.
Cons: None !
Other Thoughts: Arrived quickly from Newegg, Thanks!
