Pros: First off, I have 7.1 in both my bedroom and living room. Polk audio setups, real nice stuff. Big speakers that need lots of power and a well designed receiver to work and sound excellent.
First thing i noticed about the onkyo is the design. It has all the newest formats, and is THX certified, which with other vendors, makes the price skyrocket. Its more of a perk, but i love having it be thx certified.
It has tons of hdmi inputs, so thats great for a guy like me that has a ps3, xbox360, hdtv, htpc, hdmi cable box, etc.
The remote is much better than onkyos previous remotes. It features an "all off" button that shuts everything down, and quickly recognized my comcast cable box and my plasma.
The upconverter is great, as is the blue touch around the volume knob. One of the best things about this product is the fact it has a great GUI for when your setting it up. That coupled with the auto setup mic makes this easily the best receiver in its price range, and its been on sal
Cons: The first one i got from newegg for like 300 bucks off, this one i got for like 250 bucks off.
But, the thing was so great, i replaced both my receivers in the house with this model.
Its just that good.
The only con is really the receiver is heavy, and long. Make sure you have a good place to put it. Onkyos do get hot, but this one really hasnt heated up to where I notice it. It doesnt feel hotter than the pioneer it replaced.
The only true con is that it was so good i bought 2, doubling the damage ( but heck it was HALF PRICE of the msrp listed on onkyo.com ).
And of course, hooking 7 speakers up, a sub, all my hdmis, that was the worst.
But worth it.
Other Thoughts: With the sale newegg keeps having on these, soon everyone will have them. Its better than the 607, has the 1080P upconversion that the 607 doesnt ( it has 1080i ) and of course, its THX certified which is just icing on this wonderful cake.
What are you waiting for... this is easily the best receiver right now in its class, and for the money, click BUY BUY BUY!!!

Long time looking

Pros: Sounds Great
Cons: A little exspensive but New Egg has the best prices I have found.
Other Thoughts: I wanted to build the best home theater that I could for my price range. I lessoned to Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo, Integra, Sony and pioneer, You have to ask yourself what am I going to use this receiver for home Theater or music? I was impressed with Yamaha‘s upper end receivers and Onkyo’s Denon has a fuller sound but Yamaha has a cleaner sound. If you want to hear crisp sound affects you want Yamaha but you give up some mid range if you want a fuller theater sound Denon but you give up some clarity .Onkyo Is a good balance of Yamaha and Denon , It has Good highs and Low and good Mid range. It has the best of both worlds. Remember get some good Hdmi Cables or Interconnects they do make a big difference. Bottom line you should lesson for yourself to see what you like but it is hard to hear receivers you like side by side hooked up to the same speakers for a fair comparison.. I am very happy with my Onkyo TX- SR 707.

Pros: one of the first receivers where I found the on screen display to be very good and easy to set it up which is usually a real pain. The sound quality is just amazing!!! I mean amazing, even in stereo mode with 2 speakers for music it made my speakers come alive!!! And with a powered sub its just of the highest quality. reminds me of my $2000 carver setup years ago. its on that caliber no joke.highly recommendedq
Cons: it does get hot and the remote is not backlit but its nice just the same.
Other Thoughts: this is a high end receiver sound quality wise and dont let alll the features scare you it is easy to setup with the on screen display which you can access anytime via remote. Its been a long time since I heard a really high quality recevier in this price range. made me listen to my cd collection again.

Pros: Easy setup. If you're familiar with Onkyo receivers, this should be easy. Plenty of connectivity. Plus, it sounds great and has the power you need.
Cons: Not really a con. I own a TX-SR-805, which has 130 watts a channel. There's a noticeable difference between the two. Would have liked to had 7.1 audio inputs like the 805. The newer receivers are all moving away from that now.
Other Thoughts: Powers my 7.1 system just fine, but lacks the ommpf of the 805 I also have. An execellent receiver that I got at Newegg with a great price, no taxes and free shipping.
