Pros: Great price for 7.1 system, balanced sound, sufficient sound for medium sized apartment, great video upscaling despite negative reviews on cnet. After getting better wires that the dental floss included, after mounting on sanus stands, couldn't be better. Initially was about to get Pioneer VSX1019 and Energy speakers for 5.1 sound but at a 950+ price tag, but newegg put this on sale. Awesome speedy shipping by the way, bought on Saturday, wasn't processed until Tuesday but arrived Wednesday! from NJ to MD. Great tweaking capabilities. Tears noted to Band of Brothers blu ray and Sookie looks hotter on True Blood blu ray. Hooked to PS3 via HDMI, Wii via component, cable box via HDMI, iPhone 3g via Uport and karaoke via RCA to Pioneer Elite. Audessey gives good balance. Love the tallboys.
Cons: You might prefer some tweaking after audessey calibration though, center speakers/movie dialogue a little weak after calibration. Hard to find suitable speaker stands for the satellites as the keyhole inserts are high up on the box. Ended up with Sanus stands and velcro and doing well, even if hung vertically from angled Sanus stands.
Other Thoughts: Great value for the price. Audio purists usually thumb down HTIBs, but for the price and for my purposes in a 20x14x11ft ceiling apartment, great enough. Awesome shipping again!

Pros: One of few HTiB (maybe the first, do not quote me on that) to have Dolby Prologic IIz, which upconverts even a dolby stereo into 9.1 output. Facilitates two front top speakers, making it virtually 9.2 system(two extra front top speakers needs to be bought separtely to enjoy the sound in 3D) Option for a second subwoofer Upconverts any video source to 1080P while HTS-7100 upconverted to 1080i
Cons: Reiterating, front HDMI port would have been awesome!
Other Thoughts: There are serious significant enhancements from HTS-7100 to HTS-7200. I was wrong in my previous review. Even if its $100-$200 extra money for this system conpared to HTS-7100, I would buy 7200 instead of 7100. Its worth every dollar.

Pros: This home theater system seems to have it all! The sound quality is great. Great mids, highs, and lows all around. Audyssey speaker calibration is pretty cool, it definitely helps when you have an odd shaped room or seating arrangements that don't perfectly fit the Setup Diagrams. The HDMI ports work great, and produce a really nice picture, while also passing the digital audio (a lot less cables!) The remote is pretty bulky, but this receiver has a lot of features, so it's necessary. Front-aux ports are a nice feature as well. Comes with an Ipod dock that charges and allows it to play songs from your Ipod. Works great with my Harmony 550. Sometimes it works better than the factory remote! The tall front speakers are really awesome for my setup too. I haven't gotten to use the Zoning features (for speakers in another room) but I'm looking forward to testing this out. It seems like it's going to be very useful. Finally, I'd like to mention that this receiver should have plenty of ports.
Cons: The speaker wire that comes with this is pretty sad. I'd definitely recommend buying 16 or 14 gauge. Another thing I didn't like is that the Ipod dock doesn't show on-screen menus for your playlists and albums. I would also suggest buying another subwoofer cable because the one that comes with it is basically a 12-foot piece of floss. An HDMI port on the front would have been pretty cool too. These cons definitely don't make-or-break this though, because they aren't major and most of them can easily be fixed.
Other Thoughts: A few things I had to research that weren't very easy to find:
The HDMI passes digital audio through, allowing 1 cable from each HDMI source.
This unit does upscale with composite (up to 1080i) and onto the TV with just 1 HDMI output
The Ipod dock does not display your playlists and menus on the TV.
The Ipod dock does work with Video Ipods/Iphones
The digital audio inputs can be set to specific (and multiple) video inputs. This comes in handy when you have a device that doesn't pass digital audio through HDMI. My computer has DVI out, so this came in handy for me.
Measuring would be a really good idea. Some of these speakers are huge, especially the center and subwoofer.. Not to mention the receiver itself.
The receiver is the HT-RC160. I'd recommend downloading the User's manual before purchasing to answer any questions- which can be found on the onkyo website.

Pros: Great quality, easy setup. Packaged receiver HT-RC160 is a great value for the money. 1080i upconversion of non-HDMI sources, choice of audio output options, plenty of HDMI ports. Speakers are compact. System produces great sound. iPod deck is a great plus - plays videos upconverting them to 1080i. Overall system look is great and it fits my living room. Wood finish (vs plastic in 7100) is an important thing for me. I was afraid that because of the room size and TV position I wouldn't be able to achieve great quality - but with Audyssey mic (included) I run internal setup that produced very decent configuration for all three places where people can sit. Remote control works with my Sony TV, Comcast/Motorola DVR box and other components executing most used functions.
Cons: Disclaimer: Those I are not cons for the price, but things what would be great to have for me. 1. iPod integration doesn't show information on the screen, so while it is possible to operate iPod with a remote it's hard to do for music, only rewinding videos. 2. Receiver is rather warm - which is not a problem for my setup, but can be considered by people putting it into a cabinet. 3. Remote control executes most of the function, but things I miss are being able to control my PS3, page up/down in comcast TV guide, macro function - turn on tv, dvr, amplifier with one click. 4. 1080p up-conversion would be great, if it would be possible to up-convert HDMI sources it would be nice too. It passes them through. 5. Wires are a bit thin and weren't long enough for back and surround speakers for me. I bought 3 100ft packages at local store for $6 each to take care of this. Also I got sticky raceways to hide the cabling and route it around the doors - highly recommend those.
Other Thoughts: newegg delivery is just great. 100+ pounds package was delivered to me in 2 days (probably will take more time for people outside cali). Receiving big 100+lb box at the door and do not care about delivery was great plus.
Giving this system 5 golden eggs because of delivering above expectations. Do not compare it against $1k+ receivers with $2k+ speaker packages. But against rivals it will definitely stand out.
