3D Video and Audio Return Channel via HDMI
Four HDMI inputs on the TX-SR313 allow seamless integration of high-definition devices such as Blu-ray players, cable/satellite tuners, and gaming consoles. HDMI implementation on this receiver also supports an Audio Return Channel, allowing TV audio to be sent upstream to the A/V receiver. That means you can enjoy television programs in magnificent Onkyo sound. HDMI also supports 3D video and other popular high-resolution formats.

Direct Digital Connection: The Cleanest Your iPod Can Sound
The front-panel USB port lets you play MP3 and AAC stored in an iPod/iPhone, and MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device, and you can use the system's own remote for track selection and playback. Your music will sound much cleaner and clearer, as the audio signal is transported in digital rather than analog form through the direct digital connection.

Have an Apple TV? The Onkyo remote is preset to control Apple TV.
Use it with your Onkyo A/V Receiver. It's all integrated, and it all works together beautifully.

ONKYO's Proprietary WRAT Technology
WRAT improves the fidelity of amplified audio and reduces noise across the frequency range, guaranteeing a well-balanced performance even with the most dynamic soundtracks. It achieves this by employing a low negative-feedback amplifier design; using "closed" ground-loop circuitry to cancel noise from individual circuits; and by ensuring high instantaneous-current capability. Also Onkyo uses discrete transistors, which help guarantee a consistent, stable supply of current to the speaker system for an open and assured performance.

Easy Access For Settings Changes
The TX-SR313's overlaid On-Screen Display (OSD) feature makes changing the settings on your A/V receiver quick and easy. On-screen set-up menus appear over the video image you're watching so you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to stop the program and switch to a different screen to access menus.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MP3 USB Playback

Pros: Plays MP3s from my micro SD USB adapter, can navigate MP3 folders on receiver's display panel with remote without a TV hooked up, has a setting for enhanced MP3 playback, Subwoofer output for my Sony 15", tons of connections, sounds great, price.

Cons: Manual does not explain MP3 folder navigation except for OSD on TV.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfactory

Pros: Great sound, great features, easy to use and set up, solid, hasn't broken yet. Has a plethora of settings to tweak, which I appreciate. Plays from Android phones via USB fine. Very basic navigation. Has many different preset options to switch through for TV, digital video, music and gaming.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I bought this (because it was dirt cheap - thanks Newegg) because my aging HT in a box needed to be replaced. I also wanted it to simplify all of the device connections, so having 4 HDMI units going in and 1 HDMI out to TV is incredibly helpful. Yes component isn't upscaled to HDMI, but it's not a big deal. I also bought this over the network versions because of all of the bad press regarding Onkyo's firmware issues. I decided a simple machine that doesn't need firmware upgrades is good enough. Streaming can be done through a Roku or something anyway. So with that said - it's simple (with the ability to get complicated if you need it to), and it works, and it produces a fine amount of sound for my medium sized TV room.

1 out of 5 eggsMine was sent back RMA

Pros: Should have been good?? NOT Newegg's fault.

Cons: My receiver was non-functional in the respect that it was programmed as a wrong model (presumably from the factory). Made it impossible to set up as the unit could not complete (missing components required for THAT model). QOA must have been severely lacking!

Other Thoughts: My opinion of Onkyo has been down-graded due to my experience. Onkyo support was unhelpful, and they were as shocked as I was about the situation. Newegg was not at fault.

5 out of 5 eggsA lot of amplifier for the $$$$

Pros: Works perfect, great sound.

Cons: Complex to set up and configure. Too many menus and options.

Other Thoughts: I you are looking for a simple stereo home amplifier, this is not it. If you want an entry level 5.1 home amplifier, this is it.

2 out of 5 eggsIn the shop after 1 & 1/2 months

Pros: Cheap. All the features that I need. Easy on-screen setup.

Cons: After about a month and a half, one of the 5 HDMI inputs stopped working. The unit is in the shop now for about 2 weeks, they're waiting for a part from the manufacturer. I bought this receiver based on the assumption that Onkyo was a reliable brand, this is my first Onkyo product; I may have to change my assumption.

4 out of 5 eggsTotally Boombastic

Pros: I bought this for my kids game room for the media pc, xbok 360, uverse hd tv, etc to upgrade an old HDMI-less Yamaha RXV-361 receiver. Item performs well. Only rated at 65wpc but its enough to power my Polk Monitor 50, 30, CS1, PSW10 system. Sound was actually surprisingly good! Low THD, decent SNR, good components (burrbrown DACs). Besides all those specs the sound was impressive for my setup and the kids definitely enjoy it. Good quality, feature rich at affordable price.

Cons: Will not do HDMI upconvert. I have a Wii using HD Components to the Onkyo receiver. The receiver will not pass it through HDMI, I have to connect another pair of components cables from the receiver to the TV. There is no option for the HDMI upconvert.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: HDMI control - compatible TV will control the receiver's volume using the TV or TV remote's volume +/- buttons. On screen display of menus and volume adjustments. Assignable input for each channel (HDMI/Optical/Coax/analog).

Able tune to AM/FM radio while still watching TV (useful if watching a sports event and you prefer the radio announcer over the TV announcer).

Cons: Requires a powered sub. I guess that's pretty common for current receivers, but I was not able to re-use my dad's subwoofer from his 5.1 channel DVD player.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for my dad who just moved into a new house. I have a Pioneer receiver that is 2 years old in the same price range and this receiver blows that one out of the water feature-wise. I guess that is just the progression of technology at work.

This receiver is connected to a 4 year old Toshiba LCD TV and the HDMI controls work great for the volume and power controls, which save a lot of reprogramming of universal remotes.
