5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price!!
Features - You cant get better features under $300.00
Wi-Fi - Pandora easily connected. Adapter purchased separately.
Nice On-Screen Display - GUI not outdated
Good remote if just a little light and slick. Controls everything, SAT, BluRay, TV. One Remote.

Cons: Delay in switching source to actually viewing it. For example loading a bluray. It will take 30 sec or so to get the receiver to output the signal from the bluray through the receiver, to the tv. Kind of annoying but minor.

Other Thoughts: Pondered a Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, Sony, even a Marantz. None could beat this receiver for features vs price. Yamaha would have been my second choice. Their on-screen display was a little 90's for my taste.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome

Pros: Works much better than expected. Replaces my PC and/or video converter box. Aux HDMI input in front is also a nice feature. Good GUI

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The only thing that would make this a PERFECT system would me a HDTV tuner built in.

2 out of 5 eggsBad ethernet

Pros: Lots of features. Would be perfect if it worked properly.

Cons: Ethernet plug failed to work on my unit.

Other Thoughts: Read through some other reviews that mentioned quality control issues with these Onkyo receivers, but i fell for the features and tried anyways. Lesson learned.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Receiver

Pros: Easy setup, I like the on-screen guide and controls. Loud clear output.

Cons: My only real gripe with this receiver is that takes too long to switch modes. When I'm using my HTPC, I only hear about 1/2 of the startup sound and the first few seconds of audio are missing from everything while I listen to the receiver make its loud audio source switch clicking noises.

Spotify setup was a bit of a pain, need to go to their website to get your ID (facebook login not allowed).

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Great sound, powered zone 2 (though I haven't used it yet), and internet radio services (with wifi adapter).

Cons: The three point sound calibrator is a joke, just use the single (better yet, do it manually). And the HD component video inputs only let through 480 or 720... one of those. Moral of the story is, you can't hook up an Xbox or Blue ray to the component video unless you downgrade its video output. Doesn't bother me so it still gets 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sound quality is excellent with all kinds of listening modes and adjustments, plus it connects to the internet for Exm radio and Pandora! Plus U get soft ware upgrades!

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this product for a excellent midgrade system, it really performs well!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: Very clear sound. Easy to use interface put on TV screen for even better use. Sounds great. HDMI all work well and are labeled and passive pass-through for when TV speaker will do. Plenty of digital collectors for my use and internet radio makes for even more nice sounding music. Power enough to push my 4 8-inch floor speakers and 12 inch sub-woofer to window rattling but crystal clear sound.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWorth It

Pros: Easy to setup, Smart phone app lets me control music from anywhere in the house (including when the roommates have it too loud when I'm sleeping), compatibility with Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify etc. Intuitive on-screen menus.

Cons: Either I haven't figured it out yet or it's not possible but I would like and option for TV pass thru while listening to music. I have very limited knowledge on this subject so I'll keep working on it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as somewhat of an entry level setup for myself with Polk speakers and it's great. Had to do some tweaking to get the sound right for music/tv/movies and all that but the outcome is great for a basic home theater effect. Prove yourselves.

4 out of 5 eggsVery flexible, pretty easy to use

Pros: - easy to hook up
- Audessey makes speaker set up very easy
- found network attached drive containing my MP3 collection with no prompting and allows me to play music off the drive.
- great free Android app allows me to control the receivers over the home network, and to play music stored on my Android device to the receiver.
- In general, the network services work great.
- Various audio settings produce decent sound stages
- much lighter than my old analogue Onkyo (but less powerful, I think)
- good support via on-line forums
- easy to set up control of my other (non-Onkyo) remotes

Cons: - somewhat underpowered, but Onkyo sells more powerful models.
- Can only play analogue inputs through Zone 2.
- Don't appear to be able to play 'NET' sourced music to Zone 2.
- Front panel controls virtually invisible, so you are totally reliant on remote.
- Zone 2 controls confusing.

Other Thoughts: bought two, one was open box, set them up upstairs and down. Family appreciates having a single receiver model on both systems, finds this one much easier to use than the ones that I replaced.
Love having HDMI inputs/outputs (standard on current receivers, but not on the older ones I replaced); vastly reduced wire clutter.
I actually found a lower price on this from the online giant, but I like to support NewEgg, I've been able to find interesting products here.
