Four HDMI inputs on allow seamless integration of high-definition devices such as Blu-ray players, cable/satellite tuners, and gaming consoles. HDMI implementation on this receiver also supports an Audio Return Channel, allowing TV audio to be sent upstream to the A/V receiver. That means you can enjoy television programs in magnificent Onkyo sound. HDMI also supports 3D video and other popular high-resolution formats.

The front-panel USB port lets you play MP3 and AAC stored in an iPod/iPhone, and MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device, and you can use the system's own remote for track selection and playback. Your music will sound much cleaner and clearer, as the audio signal is transported in digital rather than analog form through the direct digital connection.

Amazing AmplifierONKYO's WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) Delivers Higher Fidelity

WRAT is a suite of innovative technologies developed to improve signal-to-noise ratios, and to enhance the fidelity of amplified audio. The technologies work to reduce noise across the frequency range, guaranteeing a well-balanced performance even with the most dynamic soundtracks. It achieves this by employing a low negative-feedback amplifier design; using “closed” ground-loop circuitry to cancel noise from individual circuits; and by ensuring high instantaneous-current capability to cancel reflex energy and impedance fluctuations from the speakers. The WRAT design has made Onkyo AVRs the firm favorite among discerning audio enthusiasts.

3 out of 5 eggsSeemed fine but suddenly stopped working after warranty expired

Pros: -sound is great. great features. Works well when its not defective

Cons: Common issue with all similar Onkyo units (due to shoddy HDMI chip apparently) is that sound will suddenly stop working after 6 months to 4 years. Randomly Mine took 4 years (happened intermittently before then) so now its out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: Great as long as you get it for $300 or less and realize that you will be replacing the entire unit within 2 to 4 years,

5 out of 5 eggsGreat System for Price

Pros: The system is pretty easy to setup and configure. The on screen settings helps a lot. The sound is actually pretty good for the price on the system. I have a larger living room and the sound fills the room pretty good.
I am very happy about this system especially for the price.

Cons: Could be louder
Sub is not powered on its own

Other Thoughts: I had some issues at first with the shipping it was shipped damaged but Newegg fixed the issue with out any question.
IF you are looking to get a surround sound and dont want to spend thousands of dollars this is a great system to start off with.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality For The Price

Pros: Have only had this system for three days, but I have put it thru its paces. This Onkyo (HT-S3500) preforms like a high dollar unit. Has all the bells and whistles you would want and expect in a high end unit. You can not get more bang for your buck! The sound quality is superb and the bass is thunderous. Have not had a single issue, all features worked great. Works great in any normal size room. I would recommend this system to anyone.

Cons: Speaker wire not the best, but does the job...

Cons: The features are not explained very well in the owners manual.

3 out of 5 eggsOne speaker stopped working within 9 months of buying

Pros: The receiver seems nice. No problems with that so far.

Cons: I have used this set of speakers and receiver for the past 8 months and recently I started to hear this chirping noise out of one of the speakers. A little frustrated about that.

2 out of 5 eggsPower issues

Pros: Easy setup and the speakers are good. On screen menu is good and allows for quick customization.

Cons: I have had issues with the receiver randomly powering itself off since I got it and now I have to push the power button 3-4 times to get it to stay on.

Other Thoughts: I have called Onkyo tech support several times requesting assistance and while the reps are very courteous, all they ever say is that I can send it into one of their authorized repair centers, which means I wouldn't have the receiver for a month or two. I have bought another receiver (different brand) and will give sending the unit for repair (so I can hopefully sell it)

2 out of 5 eggsGood until the sound stopped working

Pros: Easy to set up and sound was decent.. used a digital optical cable to hook up from my computer to receiver to make my computer my home entertainment system..

Cons: About six months in after using everyday the sound just stopped working... The receiver still works.. Everything seams to work like it used to but just no sound.. Used their website to troubleshoot and used all the tips but nothing worked... I have sent them two emails over the last two weeks and have not received a reply.. Makes me worried about them.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome sound for great price

Pros: Price
Sound quality

Cons: Subwoofer
Input selection

Other Thoughts: I am completely satisfied with this system, however, there are a few things I would change if I could. The first being the subwoofer. It is not a powered subwoofer, which tends to be very distorted when it comes to explosions in video games and movies, however, for music, it works great. The other thing I have noticed is that when I turn my xbox on first, then the unit, it does not automatically select Pro-logic II (surround sound), it starts up in stereo mode. In order for the proper sound selection to register, I have to turn the unit of first, then the xbox, then it will automatically load into Game mode Dolby Digital Pro-Logic II or PLII. I then will be able to play my game in surround sound. It did take me a few months to realize why my sound wasnt always "surround", full and crisp, then I realized this and now I am satisfied everytime I game.
