2 out of 5 eggs7 Months of life

Pros: For the first 6 Months it seemed to work fine:

A little slow to load, but it's a BlueRay so that is expected
Picture quality was great, and sound was crystal clear

Cons: The biggest con...7 Months from purchase it died for all intents and purposes. It will still play DVD's, and some BlueRay depending on how it was encoded and formatted.
Ran the most recent firmware update to no avail, and of course being a refurb to start it had no warranty.
It will still play some DVD's so I suppose I can move it to the basement and call it a fancy slow DVD player, but cannot depend on it to play anything we rent to watch since it only understands limited BlueRay functions.

Other Thoughts: I buy a lot of Factory refurb, I trust most of the good companies to fix and resell their own products and am very rarely disappointed, but this player having worked for months and then dying screams of poor design or quality control.

1 out of 5 eggsBought a return shipping charge

Pros: none

Cons: Started failing on 2nd disk

Other Thoughts: Started failing on the 1st day: Played 1st movie w/ no prob; started freezing w/ 2nd movie. Next day will not recognize any of 4 blu-ray disks, including two it previously played. Newegg does not pay for return shipping, so I’m returning for a refund. All I got is a shipping bill, thanks Newegg! Hope this was just a one-in-a thousand problem because selling shipping charges can’t be good business

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Play first Blu-Ray disk so far so good, pair with a ZuniConnect wirelessly stream Netflix with no problem, how reliable only time will tell.

Cons: took a long time to load a blu ray disk, can only browse and play netflix instant queue, no firware update yet for this model HP-24U(A).

1 out of 5 eggsSlow and poorly supported.

Pros: Relatively cheap.

Cons: The player recognizes Blu-ray discs extremely slowly.
Sharp is also very slow to release updates for this and other players, so if you do get a movie title that the player won't recognize you may have to wait for quite some time before an update is released.
Also the model is several years old, so if you want updated streaming functions beyong Netflix you are out of luck.
Finally, no built in Wifi!

3 out of 5 eggscutting corners

Pros: works great for my am2 server. All I needed was any psu and this was on sale. I'm also not afraid this will blow up like other cheap companies

Cons: Who doesn't include a power cord? Oh wait companies that call themselves Eco. Seriously , you need a power cord to use it so why not include one? a cardboard box and recycled cards to make the psu is fine but I need a power cord to use it...

Other Thoughts: I had to give it some stars for not being a junk psu but it did lose my respect and recommendation because lacking a cord that is needed to use the product. Mines not defected you all have the same thing.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Great Value.... I bought one of these last May. It works fine for DVDs and I had no trouble activating it for my Netflix account.

Cons: I'll agree with John's review that it sometimes takes multiple tries to read a BluRay.

Other Thoughts: Why not buy refurbished to save a few bucks? This stuff goes obsolete after a few years anyway

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Seems to play DVDs without problems.

Cons: Slow recognizing Blu-rays. Sometimes had to eject disc and reload several times before it would play. While playing a Blu-ray in good condition, player would drop sound for several seconds and at other times pixalate the picture.

Owners manual has an insert sheet that states warranty is 30 days parts and labor.

Other Thoughts: Didn't attempt to use Netflix feature. Am returning player and getting something that works.
