1 out of 5 eggsLow quality pickup

Pros: Once you get it working it can pick up HD-quality channels consistently if your signal strength is good.

Cons: Very difficult to setup. It took a lot of adjusting and toying.

I live on ground-floor, so maybe this was the problem but at first I could only pick up a few propaganda channels from China and RussiaToday propaganda.

However, after adjusting more and more, I finally had to hang a nail on my wall above my TV and tape it. At that height it starts picking up NBC local channel. That's all I get in metropolitan area.

I had to tape the amplifier to a candle, because there's no other way to get the signal for NBC stable.

It's the only real decent news source I can get.

This is not a replacement for Cable or Fiber optic connection.

This is really just for propaganda channels and local news channel if you can catch the signal.

Other Thoughts: It does its job if you can get a good signal and are not on a ground-floor. It does bring HD quality stably for your local channel if you find it.

Otherwise it is not a replacement for cable.

5 out of 5 eggsRCA ANT1450B Flat Antenna With Amplifier

Pros: Using the CA ANT1450B Flat Antenna With Amplifier with AVerMedia Volar Hybrid Q H837 USB 2.0 Interface, instead of the "rabbit ears" it came with. I re-scanned for TV and FM stations, found several more tv stations, and about a dozen more FM radio stations. Picture quality is terrific! does not need adjusting like the stock rabbit ears that came with the TV tuner card.

Cons: If it is a con, the plug for the antenna booster gets in your way until you get used to it. The antenna wire is a little stiff when positioning the antenna

Other Thoughts: great improvement.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome performance

Pros: Awesome reception. Even though I live pretty far otside any major TV market, and RCA's wizard suggested an outside antenna, the reception is absolutely excellent (see below). Lots of ways to mount it, you can lay it flat, it has a removable stand to make it upright, it has mounting holes for attaching it to the wall, etc.

Cons: Not really a con, but this thing is very very light, the attached cable is heavier, making placement tricky if you don't want the weight of the cable pulling it onto the floor.

Other Thoughts: I don't live in the middle of nowhere, but you can see it from here. According to the FCC's website, the nearest big TV market's major network transmitters range from 45-53 miles to my northEAST. I have this hanging in a window on my WEST side, and I get all the major networks crystal clear. Actually, I got all the major channels, even from that distance, with the antenna lying flat behind the TV against the west wall, without the booster - I only connected the booster and hung it up in the window because the smaller stations, closer but less powerful, to my west weren't coming in. With it hanging in the window, I get over 30 channels (including the sub-channels such as 49.2, 49.3, etc.) without having to reposition it at all - I got MOST (but not all) of those before with my 'rabbit ears' type antenna, but had to move them frequently to get different stations - and that antenna was more expensive! BTW, I also have this connected to a splitter to feed both my TV and the tuner in my mediacenter computer. For the price, you can't beat this little wonder.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Quite Well

Pros: The antenna works quite well. When I programmed the TV with it hooked up it found 18 HD channels, all of the major networks are crystal clear. I had to adjust the position a bit to get all of the channels equally clear.

Cons: Non that I have discovered yet.

Other Thoughts: I have it placed about 7 ft off the ground. Not sure if it really matters if the placement height really matters though.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: I pick up channels. A lot, most of them are lame but you get the HD channels for the main networks. Lots of ways to mount it too.

Cons: Nothing really

Other Thoughts: It's a pretty basic item with a straightforward use. Not much to say

2 out of 5 eggsA disappointment.

Pros: It works. You will receive some channels if you hook it up to your TV or a DTV receiver. More compact than rabbit ears.

Cons: It works no better than my 15 year old rabbit ears from radio shack. I tried 3 different orientations, both passive and amplified. Amplifier doesn't seem to help at all (and frequently makes reception worse). Eventually got the same number of channels as I was getting with my old antenna. Still only get CBS and ABC intermittently. I assumed a newer amplified antenna would provide a stronger signal so I could receive these channels, but no luck. These stations are only about 20 miles away, but that is too far for this little guy.

Other Thoughts: This is an OK antenna if you have no other way to receive over the air signals. Just don't expect it to be any better than a decent set of rabbit ears.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Antenna

Pros: If you are like me and use Hulu and Netflix for TV but need a solution for local news and sports this is the perfect solution. I live in a Philadelphia suburb and this antenna works great. I found about 30 stations half of which were Spanish or religious but the remainders came in very clear. I especially like the clarity of the 4 HD channels I was able to receive. My TV is hung above my fireplace and just laying the antenna on the mantel worked OK except when the kids came between the antenna and the tower. I now have it hung just above eye level behind a curtain and it works great. Didn't even need the power supply connected.

Cons: You have to hang it high (5 feet) or the movement of people could interfere with it. I imagine you would have this with any antenna though.

Other Thoughts: Canceling cable TV is nice but you forget about little things like watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve. You also miss local sports and news. It is for these reasons an antenna It is a must have when cutting cable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat multi purpose antenna

Pros: flexible placement
unobtrusive
great cable TV alternative

Cons: you will have to experiment with placement for awhile before final position.

Other Thoughts: great antenna for HD pickup ... picks up 90% of the stations in the NYC area super crisp and clear.
I also use it via a coax splitter to pickup FM stations for my A/V Receiver. Works great for that as well ... all stations lock in without fade.

3 out of 5 eggsOn the fence with this one.

Pros: Thin, flat, inexpensive, amplified, resonably long wires.

Cons: Reception is at best spotty. I can get in any channel I want but never all at the same time. If I were to point the antenna in a certain direction any ONE station can be picked up... good luck living like that. Amplification does have an effect on how strong an individual channel performs.

Other Thoughts: Unless I can find a spot for the antenna where all channels (or even most) come in well, this is a bust.
