2 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: looks nice, plays bluray discs

Cons: Audio cuts out often. While watching a 30 minute show, the volume cuts out about 3 times on average. Will need to buy a different theater setup to correct this.

1 out of 5 eggsREMOTE DEAD

Pros: Sound quality is good for the price, but that's it.

Cons: Where do I begin... it was working fine for the first week, then the remote crapped out and now I'm stuck, I've only had it for 5 weeks.

Other Thoughts: RCA get your stuff together, you should offer REPLACEMENT remotes to everyone that has purchased these, very disappointed and hope to hear from a rep soon.

4 out of 5 eggsgood value speakers and player

Pros: This is not a premium home theater speaker. But it does work and provide enough quality for a value oriented user. Also the player itself is good, and works properly. It has some good functions, which is probably available in most blu-ray players now. But the main thing is all the functions work properly.

Cons: Some distortion via speakers observed if you leave the speakers/player on for too long. All is good back on a reboot.

Other Thoughts: May not be worth the original ticket price. But a good value for the newegg deal price.

4 out of 5 eggsFor $30 AR you really can't complain

Pros: Cheap! And considering the price, lots of features, especially network streaming apps! Optical and analog audio inputs. Decent sound for the price. Bluray video quality is also more than decent.

Cons: Again, for the price, you really can't complain, but if I had to say anything, it would be the perceived lag of remote button presses. I personally believe it's just a poorly designed remote which only responds to really hard button presses, and it's not the player itself. But since I didn't break the remote open to debug, take what I say with a grain of salt.
Without the remote, the unit would be more or less non-functional as most of the controls are only accessible via remote.
The Netflix app does not support subtitles :(
One of the speakers had wires that were obviously cut short. No big deal, because I could have easily spliced in more wire if needed. Plus, this was a refurb.

Other Thoughts: All I really wanted was a cheap receiver with speakers so I could use my iPhone/iPod to play music. So for the price for a cheapo clock radio that would have done this task, I got a cheapo bluray player, receiver, and network streaming box.. with 5.1 surround to boot. But for the third time, you really can't complain about the quality.
So as a receiver to play music, it's fine. Quality is about on par with a nice boombox (ghetto blaster) from the 80s. And the reason it's fine, is because that's all I expected. Please note, I have only connected the left and right speakers as well as the subwoofer, so I'm only running it in 2.1 stereo mode, but I'm sure 5.1 will work just fine. I connected a Bluetooth A2DP receiver via the analog aux input to wirelessly stream music. And the cool thing is the USB port on this thing powers the Bluetooth receiver so the A2DP receiver turns on and off with the unit. I'm sure the optical audio input would sound even better.
As for the Bluray player, it seems decent. I haven't gotten any of the tray open issues or sound issues mentioned in other reviews, but then again, I haven't switched between AUX and Bluray modes without powering down the system first. Video quality is absolutely fine (I use it as 1080i, but it supports 1080p, even 1080p24), but I do notice the colors are a bit more washed out compared to PS3. But that's not really a fair comparison anyway. Loading the disc contents doesn't take an abnormally long time either.
Finally the online apps. I've only used Netflix, but it seems to work pretty well and was easy to setup. As mentioned earlier, no subtitle support though. A small part of my hopes a firmware update will give me the subtitle feature, but I highly doubt we'll see any firmware updates for it.
Overall, this thing rocks for $30 AR (plus tax if applicable). For the price of a dinner for 2, I got exactly what I wanted, only because my expectations were aligned with the price. I just hope it lasts at least a few years because the build quality does worry me a little bit.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: sound and video are okay

Cons: At first i gave it a chance and gave it two stars because i thought the remote was broken. All unversal remote won't work and you need the remote to do anything. Netflix, vudu anything. Can't change setting or anything. Asking for a refund tomorrow that i have to call for. I thought i would get a working product that didn't have the best sound or anything but i got a 1/4 of working product. For me the brand rca is done. Also on line support is really bad. just spend a little bit more money and get something better.

2 out of 5 eggsremote and cheap

Pros: blue ray player and Netflix/streaming

Cons: You get what you pay for. Everything looks and feels cheap. It a slower system. Also right out of the box the remote didn't work. You also need the remote to do any stream app or anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Home Theater System for the Price

Pros: Surround sound 5.1, The price made me give it 5 stars because I only paid $45.

Cons: Sound quality is average

Other Thoughts: Cannot be compared to more "premium" sound systems costing +$300, so don't expect the sounds coming from these speakers change your life but it is noticeably better than the 2.1 sound from my FHD LG tv

4 out of 5 eggsFairly slow, obvious refurb, but works fine

Pros: Great deal for the $ spent
Compact design good for a smaller living room (the speakers are small enough to stick to the wall with some 2-sided tape)
Pretty good surround sound system, sounds great with my 360.
Plays Blu-Rays
Easy setup - took me about an hour including time I spent moving furniture to put wires out of sight

Cons: Sluggish response time when trying to change between programs (ie: switching from blue ray player to netflix takes several seconds)
Speaking of netflix, this system is not wireless..
Player doesn't work if your TV isn't set to the proper output..you need to force it off and restart, which is annoying
Surround sound scares my dog sometimes (lol)
Have been waiting over a month for my rebate card
The RCA symbol on the bass is chipped, this system did NOT look very nice coming out of the box
If you want to use this system for gaming you'll need to buy some extra cords (I needed another HDMI and a Toslink cable).

Other Thoughts: A lot of people here are complaining the disk drive doesn't work. For my system this is true, but only when the TV isn't set to the right input (ie: I have it set to Video 1 after playing some Smash Bros N64, then turn on the Blu-Ray player, which doesn't work because it needs the TV to be on HDMI 1...switch to HDMI 1 and everything runs properly).

The wires for the L and R speakers are not very long, you may need to splice some extra wire into those speaker lines if you're thinking of using this system in a bigger room.

I wish I bought a second one of these systems when it was on sale for my parents' gaming center in their basement.

3 out of 5 eggsRCA 5.1 Blue Ray DVD / Speaker System

Pros: Inexpensive, fair sound quality.

Cons: Noise introduced by improperly installed drive unit ( only 2 of 4 screws were installed ). Guess they wanted to save a few pennies, or maybe it was time for a coffee break, lol... Small exhaust fan induces noise as well. Controls are sluggish, and at times don't work at all without a reboot.

Other Thoughts: This is my second review, I stand corrected on the exhaust fan, my unit has one. It is very small, and makes a lot of noise. i am just going to pull it out and void my warranty, lol....

3 out of 5 eggsRCA 5.1 Blue Ray System

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Irritating hum from DVD drive. Induces noise. Sound fuzzy. Not high quality, but for the price really should not expect it to be.

Other Thoughts: Another reviewer indicated the noise was coming from a fan. I popped the hood, and found the noise comes from the drive that always runs, regardless of whether it is in use or not. Poor design. There is no fan inside my unit, just heat sinks, and those puppies get really hot! Wouldn't recommend covering the top air vents on this unit, it will most certainly fry if you do.
