1 out of 5 eggsWorthless clock

Pros: Great feature for a great price

Cons: Stopped working shortly after purchase. I should have realized that the manufacturer didn't even expect it to last, because their warranty was only 30 days! It was factory refurbished, so I did not expect a year, but I have never seen less than 90 before. I have also never before had a clock until years later. This one stopped working in about 90 days (although I bought it a little over a year ago--I was just slow to vent about the horrible quality.

4 out of 5 eggsGood clock

Pros: The clock was at a good price. It has a battery backup so you don't have to worry about power outages.

Cons: The display is rather bright. It has a dimmer switch, which helps somewhat, but still too bright for me. It went in my guest room.

1 out of 5 eggsWasted of money.

Pros: Light and numbers.

Cons: If it wasn't for the rebate. I wouldn't have gotten this... but it has been almost over three month and I have not yet receive my rebate money back. Wasted my money on this useless clock. It came in bad condition. The clock was pretty scratched up, the words were coming off, and came with dying battery.
Refurbish - like new...? What a joke.

Other Thoughts: Forever in the box.

2 out of 5 eggsSmartSet is not what it appears to be

Pros: The battery backup keeps the time set if the power goes out. It comes from the factory with the time pre-set, IF you are buying a new one that has the battery preinstalled.

Cons: The SmartSet feature is laughable (read the patent on it). Its simply that the clock has a battery backup, and comes preset from the factory. Since these don't have a battery installed they have to manually be set, and will only stay with the correct time when power goes out if a battery is installed (or unless the outage is a very short time).

Other Thoughts: Wikipedia even has incorrect info on this, stating that "SmartSet" is set via a radio signal. Its not.

1 out of 5 eggsPure Junk

Pros: Large display, Resets itself after power goes out and automatically adjusts for daylight savings time here in Texas.

Cons: Everything else is junk. The radio, both AM & FM is the poorest I've ever encountered not only signal-wise, but the thumb wheel which reads the frequency on the clock display is so over-sensitive that I have yet to tune in the exact frequency of my local stations.

The blue LED display light is scathingly bright even on the low setting (I have to block it to be able to sleep) and the alarms often come back on after a few minutes after hitting the off button, which doesn't even work most of the time. You have to hit it 3 or 4 times to get the radio or alarms to go off. The button seems to wear out fast and the entire button setup is flimsy and not built to last.

Other Thoughts: The only reason this piece of junk isnt hanging from the tree outside my window is because I havn't replaced it yet. AVOID the aggravation and the return trip to the store or RMA hassles.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: plug it in and it works; when the power shuts off it resets it's self; two levels of brightness high/low: I always rely on this clock having the correct time it is flawless. I ordered two one for the bedroom one for by the computer. this clock/radio is totally awesome. I have had them both a few months not and the clock function is great

Cons: radio could be better but then that is what my Onkyo is for. Alarm could be louder but it works and has two zones.
For a clock it is inert...(it just sits there) that's what clocks do

Other Thoughts: can't believe all the bad reviews. It seemed to not set it's self until I set time zone. Now it is flawless (both of them)

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a piece of junk!

Pros: Came with a free-after-rebate offer.

Cons: I actually am writing one of my first reviews just so others can stay away. This came with a free-after-rebate offer, so my out of pocket is $0 (hopefully the rebate comes).

Let me tell you -- this is a piece of junk. Whenever I see a lot of negative reviews, my alerts go off. I figured, how back could it be for a clock radio?

The reviews are correct. Took it out of the box, plugged it in, blinked 12:00 as usual. Started setting the clock and the display went off. I thought maybe the plug was loose, nope. The unit was dead. I said "This can't be.. seriously?", so I did two things 1) Left it plugged in to see what would happen... that did nothing. 2) Unplugged it for a day or so and then plugged it back in. It's dead.

I honestly was shocked and started laughing and saying "Only me. This stuff only happens to me" (which it does.)

Long story short: STAY AWAY. It's really not worth it. Waiting 8-12 weeks for a $10 rebate and spending 46 cents on a stamp just isn't worth it. I wish I could say I knew how it worked. It lit up for about 30 seconds total before dying and this is a "refurbished - like new" product?
