With all the benefits of the iQ90 in a slimmer enclosure, iQ70 is an assertive full bandwidth two and a half-way bass reflex floorstander that reproduces music and movie soundtracks with equal clarity and flair. With the 165mm (6.5in.) new Uni-Q^® point source array and 19mm (0.75in.) tweeter partnered by a high performance low frequency driver of the same size, it radiates a faultlessly detailed 3D acoustic image evenly throughout the room.

With twin-shrouded terminals for bi-wiring or bi-amplification the iQ70 has impressive power handling, faultless integration, breathtaking vocals and, thanks to the new ‘labyrinth’ internal damping system, heavyweight bass. It has the looks, engineering integrity and acoustic performance to deliver uncompromised listening pleasure with whatever media you choose and is complete with a discreet plinth for greater stability.

Uni-Q KEF’s exclusive Uni-Q driver configuration is what makes the Q Series sound noticeably better than conventional speakers in normal rooms. The new Uni-Q array in the iQ has been further refined, with a sophisticated new 19mm (0.75in.) elliptical dome tweeter, improved acoustic geometry and ‘tangerine’ waveguide for even more realistic vocals and even smoother, louder and clearer high frequency response.
Enclosures Inspired by the Reference Series the fully curved enclosures of the iconic Q Series minimize distortion by eliminating internal standing waves. Laminated MDF construction and internal bracing make the cabinets acoustically inert and reduce cabinet colouration. A new internal labyrinth damping system in the floorstanding models eliminate colouration effects from vertical standing waves.
LF Drivers The new Q Series feature the latest lightweight dual composite LF cones with tall profile rubber surrounds for longer cone throw resulting in increased LF extension and greater power handling. Rigid die-cast aluminium chassis house ultra-low distortion motors incorporating Faraday rings to iron out harmonic distortion.

David 1/21/2013 11:02:16 PM Tech Level: 3/5 Ownership: 4/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 4/5Great Mid Level Speakers Pros: I purchased 2 of these on sale ($199 ea) and have been very pleased so far with the quality of sound produced by the IQ70s both for movies and most music. Great vocal and mid to high range output. Dialogue in movies and song lyrics are clear and crisp. I am currently running them in a 2.0 stereo setup through a Denon AVR 1712. The speakers have a Sleek design (black oak finish) which will look very nice in most rooms. Overall i'm very happy with my purchase and am excited to add a center speaker as well as a sub and rear speakers in the future. Cons: The speakers by themselves are a bit lacking in bass when used in a 2.0 stereo setup, but that is understandable based on their specs. If used in a 5.1 setup they would work wonderfully. The center channel (Kef IQ60c) is fairly hard to find in retail stores and websites so if you are looking for a perfect center speaker to match the fronts you might have a difficult time getting one. Other Thoughts: If you have done a fair amount of research on how these Kef IQ70 speakers sound and are interested in purchasing them, the sale price of ($199 ea) is a great deal when the speakers do go on sale every once in a while. Outstanding neutrality with all sources tested (ps3, hd cable, blue ray, music ect. IMO The UNI-Q has incredible off axis performance. Flawless for any seating postion. Music, especially horns, and metal, sound full rich and not zingy or sharp, a very detailed sound stage for movies and classical as well. For rap Bass is very good, smooth and deep. I am so glad I got these instead of the Klipsch, or the polk rti 8, or the tek, MA or B&W ect. I was torn at first but in the end, for me, there really was no comparison. Superior sound, excellent finish, brilliant design, and no I don't work for KEF, if only. ;-) Cons: Needs more color choices, I love the black but some more wood grains would be nice... Other Thoughts: Using ax1000 Aventage by yamaha, bi-amped and using HDMI as my primary source, for Home Theatre the IQ-60 is a killer center design the best toppled MTM style because of the UNI-Q that thing is awesome!
