KHT1505 system features compact center and satellite speakers designed to match popular flat panel TVs, and a powerful subwoofer. With it, you can enjoy an incredible 5.1 performance with immaculate control. No matter whether you are listening to your favorite music, or watching a blockbuster movie, you will find KHT1505 5.1 system ensures uniform, captivating reproduction of sounds ranging from soaring violins, through pop diva solos, to thunderous booms.
Pros: Nice crisp clear, nice looking (but very small satellites) and sub fills a smaller room with ease. Dialogue was also very good. Connected these to a Pioneer VSX-1121 for a friend and they sound very nice. For some reason, I am VERY found of the way KEF speakers sound with scenes that have shattering glass in them. The highs are so crystal clear it's amazing. We put in Avatar once I ran all the wires. And these little speakers sounded fantastic.
Cons: These speakers are very inefficient. So even though they are 8 ohm, you need to crank up the volume to get them to sound loud. Especially during movies. On the vsx-1121 we had the volume at +2.5 at times while watching Avatar. For comparison, I run Emotiva 4ohm book shelf speakers with the exact same receiver and I keep it at -15db on the main volume! Big difference. This may cause some receivers to run warmer than normal because needing the master volume so high. YMMV
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this 5.1 for anyone looking for an entry level setup. BUT, I would explain to them before hand that they need a receiver that would have no issues being at the higher end of master volume than most speakers. Other than that, they actual some fantastic for such a little speaker. Wish I could give 4 1/2 stars instead of 4. But no half stars on newegg :-(
