Have you ever imagined five channels surround sound from only two front speakers? If yes, the formidable Fivetwo series MODEL11BL will make your imagination real. With eleven drivers in each speaker together with KEF acclaimed Uni-Q“sit anywhere” driver concept and flat panel technology, the KEF Fivetwo series MODEL11BL delivers amazing 5 channels surround sound for precisely located and real voices. Ambient effects travel through a realistic three-dimensional soundscape as the director intended. Envelop you in the surround sound of a full 5.1 set-up using the MODEL11BL and a subwoofer (you need to purchase separately.). On screen action comes alive for everyone in the room, wherever they sit.

  • newegg Surround yourself with sound, not speakers Unlike conventional 5 channels home theater system which requires five speakers, the MODEL11BL delivers 5 channels surround sound only with 2 front speakers. Hassle and clutter are things of the past.
  • newegg Uni-Q Each speaker has a front-firing array of Uni-Q drivers from the award-winning KHT5000 and KHT6000 Series, providing true dedicated center speakers as well as spreading a highly detailed sound image to your left and right.
  • newegg Flat panel technology In the back, large vertical flat panels act as high performance rear effect speakers, radiating the relevant parts of the signal to the back of the listening area. And all the channels can be separately adjusted from your receiver to achieve a perfect balanced sound.
  • newegg Easy to hook up The speakers can be mounted either on neat adjustable wall brackets or floor stands – and in line with the thinking behind the whole concept, they’re exceptionally simple to set up. All you have to do is connect the cables supplied to your 5.1 home theatre receiver/amp.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre

Pros: The speaker came defective/was blown, but I will comment on them overall.

Their virtual effect was cool, but in the end not really worth it - it requires the luxury of placing your speakers against a wall and a certain distance apart (you'll have to play with it).

I would recommend not getting theses speakers. I know they are discontinued, but in the off chance you find them else where. I purchased 2 BIC DV-64s instead and am incredibly happy.

Cons: First, these speakers are very bright - if you do not have a sub you will not enjoy them. Secondly, don't let the 2k MSRP misguide you - you are ultimately getting what you paid for and I have no idea why these speakers would cost 2k because no one would buy them.

5 out of 5 eggsAudiophile quality at a bargain price.

Pros: They look great, cables make connections a snap, center channel simulation is fantastic, 3" drivers produce pretty accurate sounding bass down to around 100 Hz.

Cons: The rear channel simulation seems to require placement near an adjacent wall or in a corner to produce a realistic surround effect. Mid-wall placement kills the effect.
The cables may be too short for some.

Other Thoughts: These speaker sound simply amazing. At their $2000 MSRP I would only be able to drool over them at my local hifi shop. At the price they closed them out at, I should have bought 3 sets and pretended I was a rich-guy gift giver for one Christmas.

They ALMOST replace a room full of speakers. You still need a subwoofer. I using an M&K V-75 MkII, and it pairs nicely with these towers. The result is full-range, seamless sound.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent speakers. Extremely happy!

Pros: These speakers are awesome. These upgraded my Bose 321 system I used as a home theater before. I complimented these with a Martin Logan 10" subwoofer, and a new Denon receiver. The sound is full, crisp, and amazingly accurate. The simulated surround is good--and a much better option than running wires to rear channels, at least in my setup.

These speakers look great, and were pleasantly approved by my wife, despite my fear she would hate them being some 40" tall.

Cons: The only con is the proprietary speaker wire--the actual wires that connect to the receiver seem a little thin for high-end application. This does not seem to be a problem, at least to me, but in my pre-Bose 321 days, I was used to using 12 gauge copper. I trust the engineers at KEF know better than I do, however.

Other Thoughts: Other than the fact that these have been out for a few years, I have no idea how Newegg has these at this price point. Awesome deal.

I was a little hesitant on these because I couldn't find many reviews before purchase. I can't say why that is...but I can say I think these are a great deal, and I'm happy I got them.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a deal

Pros: Slim and good looking. Reproduce surround sound from two speakers. Very well engineered and well built.

Cons: Expensive at MSRP point.

Other Thoughts: These are very well built speakers, solid and fairly heavy. They eve come packaged complete with protective canvas covers. The sound is well balanced due to properly designed crossovers. They are definitely a true KEF high end audio product.
They reproduce pretty convincing surround sound from the side firing NXT drivers. They rely on bouncing rear channels sound of walls so placement is very important. Not much bass in the 3" drivers, so a subwoofer is mandatory.
Overall these speakers added new life to my TV setup- they replaced 12 year old stereo KEF book shelf speakers . If you don't want to run dedicated rear speaker wires or don't have room for rear speakers, these will give you a good compromise. At sale price point they are a bargain.
