Adjustable and you can leave as much room under the tv for components like your receiver on the top shelf. I am hanging a Panasonic 58" plasma and I am confident I am not going to come home to find it on the floor. :-) Cons: Annoying to put together. There is a brace under each shelf; while it allows for heavy items to be placed on the shelf, it decreases the height of items that can go on said shelf. For example, I measured from glass to glass for a storage bin to put down there and it wouldn't fit because I forgot about the brace. Other Thoughts: TIP: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS UNTIL YOU PLACE EACH PIECE. There I saved you 45 minutes of frustration. In order to get the last 1-2 screws in, you need to kind of pull on the shelves and leg to get the holes lined up, therefore the screws need to give a few millimeters. If you are worried about not having enough room between the bottom of a large TV and the top of large components on the top shelf, don't panic.
