Replacement had the same problem as the original; transmitter and receiver refuse to sync reliably. With numerous resets, my REPLACEMENT receiver and ORIGINAL will sometimes show a temperature. Until turned off. Then start over. The ORIGINAL receiver never shows a temperature, although it beeps when the transmitter is turned on/off, indicating it is receiving the signal. Cons: completely unreliable. Never passed initial testing. Transmitter won't reliably turn on, and the LED doesn't indicate what your button-press did. Both units will be turned on, but no temperature is shown. With enough fiddling around, turning on and off, pushing reset buttons, the correct temperature is occasionally shown. If you want to fight with your thermometer while your meat burns, this unit is for you. Other Thoughts: I'm currently getting the runaround from Oregon Scientific. Perfect for its intended use. Cons: None thus far. Other Thoughts: I am not a skilled cook so I need all the help I can get. Trial and error can lead to some expensive dog food.
