1 out of 5 eggscompletely unreliable, take II

Pros: none

Cons: got a replacement of my original nonfunctional unit. Replacement had the same problem as the original; transmitter and receiver refuse to sync reliably. With numerous resets, my REPLACEMENT receiver and ORIGINAL will sometimes show a temperature. Until turned off. Then start over. The ORIGINAL receiver never shows a temperature, although it beeps when the transmitter is turned on/off, indicating it is receiving the signal.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT buy this unit.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat idea but disappointing execution

Pros: I haven't actually used it yet to cook anything but I tested it out and it seems to work well.

Cons: You cannot manually select a specific temperature. You may only use the programmed ones which are all much too high.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Time Saver

Pros: Accurate readout, Presets for most applications, great range, and an alarm to let you know when the temp is right. Perfect for its intended use.

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: For those who read the negative remark about it not reading over 199 degrees, if you let the food get that hot it is way overcooked. this is not a candy or grease thermometer.

5 out of 5 eggsFun to watch

Pros: Give an accurate temperature readout. Good range also. Easy to set up and operate.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: I am not a skilled cook so I need all the help I can get. Trial and error can lead to some expensive dog food.
No way to estimate how durable it may be but it works from the start.
